I know it is a long way down the road, but if Mount would meet WWW there will be sleepless nights figuring out how to contain Coppage..he is amazing
I just wonder if NCAA would ever place Mount and WWW in brackets where they may meet in semis to avoid the "same ole Stagg Bowl" matchup...

Maybe it could happen this year! It will depend on how each top teams in the regions perform this year along with Mount and UWW. My guess is there will again be at least one purple team at the Stagg this year. Maybe it will be the Raider's year, given early signs going into camp! :)

Please explain the sentence in bold type...in your opinion, what early signs (heading into camp) point to this (maybe) being the year of the Raiders? Also, in your opinion, if there turns out to be only one purple team at the Stagg this year, does it have to be the Raiders - just because - or do the defending champs have any shot at defending their title, as the only purple team in the Stagg...in your opinion?  ;)

In total agreement with Sidekick in that the returning defense s/b very strong and the receiving corps is awesome, BUT in my mind the QB is still a tossup and I will be hoping as days go on the someone challenges both running backs, either to replace them or to push them to better performances. The best Mount teams have always had very good running backs

BoBo,

There are some things "different" going into this year vs. prior years that have been pointed out. Why couldn't either the Raiders or Warhawks have another appearance at this year's Stagg, especially if they met in the playoff rounds. While there are no guarantees this year or any year, I just think they (Raiders) are capable of reaching to the finals, which is my projection. :)

There are a couple of other strong teams in the OAC this year, you can't dismiss Baldwin Wallace ane ONU.

sonnyhaz,

Welcome to the OAC boards. Good point, the OAC does have other strong teams. ONU is always strong and B-W
had a great start last year. We'll how it goes for this year! :)

For those who say the QB position at Mount is a toss up, what did Seaman do to lose the #1?  I did not see any reason to doubt he would be the starter from day one this season.  Now, if Pioloto had taken the Raiders to a Stagg victory maybe different, but he did not.  The latter has a bazooka for an arm, but Seaman has made all throws asked of him and presents a Micheli type challenge as a running and option threat, which I think we will see more of this season.

Point well taken.

I was very fortunate to attend Hoover's Father-Son dinner tonight, because one former Hoover and Mount alum John Andrews was the guest speaker.  What a great young man, who represents the best that is North Canton Hoover High School, and even more so the University of Mount Union.  Well spoken, humble, and gave the kids some great advice on how to reach your goals.

BRAVO to you Mr. Andrews!

I will counter by asking what has Seaman done to handed the #1 qb spot?  Open competition is good for all.  I think we would all appreciate the mobile Seaman that we heard about/saw at louisville and frosh yr at Mount

Maybe if he had a credible running attack behind him I'd like any Mount QB better

Welcome to the boards Sonny Hazelwood.

Although, Coach Snell might want you to not post on here until after you complete your 4 years of eligibility at BW.

I don't think he'll be handed the #1 spot, but it's definitely his to lose, I would think.

I thought Seaman had a good year last year before he got hurt. I think there's no doubt the job is his.

02 Warhawk,

Will it be Blanchard for UWW. Almost the same situation, injury, back-up fills in. The difference was UWW's
back-up Qb lead the team for several games! :-\

Yea, it is very similar situations...but It's Blanchard's job, no doubt.
