RC's analysis is pretty good.  One minor thing 6'5" for the QB Rankin might have been a typo in RC's program.  Rankin is bet 6'0" and 6'1".

Can anyone offer a Mount Union analysis for Rowan fans?

Been a long time since there was a team in the final four that I had never really heard of before the playoffs like Wesley. Actually I think I'd have to go back to Lycoming. Despite everything I've read, I still don't understand where they came from this year. I've written them off every week which shows how little I know.

70's Raider,,The OC at Wesley is Chip Knapp , former Kent Roosevelt QB,  has been coaching there a few years

It's December and the Profs are playing Mount Union.  IMO, the MU football program is the best in the country.  Head coach is class act.  Fans are also a class act.  I was there when we broke the streak.   The MU fans sitting around me
congradulated me and wished our team well and good luck in the Stagg bowl.

The current head coach at Rowan does not wear sunglasses for night games.  None of the coaches lose control of themselves and are all gentlemen.  Recruiting takes place at high schools and they have changed the focus of the type of student/athlete who is allowed on the team.  The Profs also played a 4 game JV schedule this year.

We no longer refer to the football team as "The Best of the East."

I have been a Prof's fan for 20+ years.  I am really proud that the goal now is to have players for four years and have them all graduate.  Everyone on the team now is from the new head coach's (and staff) blueprint on building a football program with 4 year players, graduating all players and also have a winning program year after year.  I don't think there is another way to dethrone MU as the best program in the country.

Will be driving out with a few other Prof's fans on Friday.  Will tickets for the game be available before Saturday?

For semifinal tickets, parents of Purple Raider players and season ticket holders only may call (330) 821-6759 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, December 5.
The general public should call that same number on Tuesday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you need any handicap arrangements please let them know

You can then pick them up on Friday all day or at the will call window at South gate starting at 10:30 AM Saturday

Rowan Athletics should have a 1000-1500 seat ticket allocation available as well.

I am glad that I didn't embarass myself with my amateur analysis of the Rowan Profs.  I took a lot in for one game.  (I guess that's a good thing when it's my job to talk about them on the webcast.  :))

It happens in every program so don't think I am casting stones but the Profs do have transfers that are serious contributors today.  I believe that Jay Accorsi has the Profs headed in a good direction on and off the field but there are at least three starters that began their college careers at other NCAA institutions (Wheststone, Tolbert and Wright).  I know their reasons and they are totally valid so don't get me wrong.  Like I said, this happens at many schools in Division III.

RC,

I thought it was pretty good, and close to what I would say. I don't get crazy about PP anymore.  What is disclosed here is good for the fans.  I rate it very elementary in analysis.  ie., we don't impact the game scouting wise.   The coaches are working at a much higher level.  I doubt that they are on PP looking for an advantage.

JT

prof_fan,

I still use Beast of the East.  I don't flaunt it, but I feel that it has been earned.  10 times to the semi's is worth a little something.

We still pull out "THE MACHINE" moniker but now realize that machines occaisionally break.

Here's a history question for you guys.  Who started the script as it appears now (ala the old NY Giants) on the helmets first, Rowan or Mt. Union?  Just wondering if anyone knows.

Well I believe Rowan changed its name from Glassboro St. in the early 1990's and Mount had those helmets not long after LK took over so...

JT

Dr. xGSC would be better with the helmets.  I know that they had GSC on the helmets in the last 70's and early 80's.  Late 80's and early 90's (pre-Rowan) under coach Bunting they had just numbers on the side of the helmets like Alabama.

JT

Ric,

If you could, give me a heads up on the tailgating situation at Mount.  Best times to arrive.  Alternative parking for the late comers.  Booze policy etc.  I'll post it on my site.

You can email me or post here.  Also what is the deal with the brunch.  I'll report that too. Since I'm a solo, I'll probably eat at the brunch.

Ric

JT someone else can tackle the tailgating and brunch info since I usually head straight for the pressbox and don't get involved in either.

I can tell you there is a parking lot to the east and to the west of the stadium.  The one to the east is closer to the brunch but you need a media pass to get in there.  The one to the west of the stadium is where you will find the tailgating.

Ric

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the 1993 season the first as "Rowan?"

Also whoever mentioned the Giants logo is right on.  I remember being told LK liked the font and contacted the Giants to get the style.  I'm pretty sure he patterned his helmets after those, Rowan might have done the same thing, since probably the first time they saw Mount's helmets was in preparation for the '93 Stagg.  And since we all remember how cocky the previous coach was about winning that game I doubt he even noticed the helmets much.

And since it was snowing and he was wearing sunglasses that afternoon during the game, someone probably had to point out to him the similarity in the type.  He probably didn't notice.  Unless Ballard came over to show him I wouldn't put that past JB. ;D
