If we can talk about North Canton then we can talk about Combs HS in Arizona...

We don't have much to be excited about so far in an 0-4 season (our opponents have a combined 30-10 overall record on the year) out here in AZ but I was pretty happy that the fake punt I put in this week was good for 6.  Check it out.

Very nice TRICKERATION!

Weekly nagging to get your picks in by noon tomorrow.

[And radierguy, you can still get 3 of 4 points in the WIAC pick-em]

Stagg Bowl on Friday?  ESPN and NCAA are a joke
http://d3football.com/notables/2011/09/stagg-bowl-moves-to-friday-night

I agree, kind of sucks it's on a Friday.

I liked it best in 2007 when it was on Saturday in the late afternoon.

jaypeter

Makes it a lot harder for fans to get to the game.  Now they need to potentially take Thursday and Friday off to be able to travel that far.  Although I guess they could leave Thursday after work/school and drive through the night.  Overall good for the TV ratings and exposure, but harder on the fans who want to be there in person.

PurpleSuit

well TV ratings are what college athletics is all about, right?  So do the student athletes now only have one maybe two days during exam week to complete all their exams?  The only true student athletes (D3) and they have to play during the week.  What a joke

Shoot Doc.....as Coach H has said, the Streaks are as good if not better than the Vikes..it's all about who they played when.  I think Jr. will want to battle and make sure he outgains Blasiole.  That's a battle that I am looking forward to in the coming years.

HSC...even in my best wing eating days I never topped 225.  Currently weighing in at a svelte..ummm.....200?  (Not sure...can't see the scale).   ;D

Good.  You'll have plenty of room for beer and wings come playoff time with SF (and probably his lady) in town..

Sweet.  You're bringing Reality Check with you?

OUCH.  Harsh words.  Considering your domestic partnership with Ric, you sure are spitting venom.  I mean you two were the originally Bert and Ernie and you're throwing stones???  Besides, SF is putting all the closet-talk behind him and pretending to be into girls again.

Again??

Nice comments coming from Peter King, about Cecil Shorts.......

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) at Carolina Panthers (0-2)
For his first NFL start, Blaine Gabbert will have these wideouts to throw to, keeping in mind that all six may not be active: Mike Thomas, Jason Hill, Jarett Dillard, Cecil Shorts, Chastin West, Kassim Osgood. (I really like Shorts' potential, by the way. Fast, shifty, good hands; from being in Jacksonville in August, I know how much the staff and scouts love the fourth-round pick from Mount Union, the latter-day Pierre Garcon.) Other than the underrated Thomas, there's not a lot of sure things for Gabbert to target.

Currently 50% of the front page poll responents say the move is "Great"

What are they thinking???  There is also speculation that it will be on the "U" not even the Deuce.

For someone who doesn't travel to the Stagg every year, I'm having trouble seeing the move as anything but a good thing for fans (both casual and fanatic), ESPN, and DIII football in general. Prime time football has a special kind of excitement built in and I look forward to the last game of our season being in that slot.

I don't buy the one-day-less argument for the teams involved and I imagine it won't much affect the gate (if anything, I'd guess it might create more local interest, it being a friday night option for entertainment and all. Students and parents will still travel; excluding those folks, how many Purple Fans that would travel on a Saturday won't on a Friday? It's not like they're announcing the change in November. My guess is that those usually compelled to travel that long of a distance can and will figure out a way to do it a day early.

The cantankerous response here seems curious to me.

It's not speculation. It's in the story.
