I like the Friday night kick-off.  I travel down early Friday morning anyway, and now get to drive home Saturday morning instead of late Saturday night.  I think it's great.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

The Stagg was great Saturday because you didn't have to take a day off work or pull your kid out of school to get there. The local attendance will probably drop since it's a lot of youth football kids and dad's. I just don't see a GREAT Friday afternoon tailgate in Salem. I'm sure the community will suffer a lose as people will be coming in for one night instead of two or three, but like pro football, it's all about the tv money.

Gotta disagree with BashDad, it's oblivious to anyone who has made this trip what a bad move it is. Even on the TV front, who's gonna watch the DIII game on Friday night. The people who are going to watch it on tv will do it even if it's on Sunday morning

About the d3 front page poll, it doesn't hold much value since only two teams fans are affected...for the past six years at least.  Every other school's fan should think its great, watching 11am football would suck.  Good luck to those students that have exams scheduled for friday night 6-9:30pm, maybe they'll be able to catch the game on re-play on ESPN Classic.  If Mount makes it there, I guess maybe they'll only need one student bus this year.  There are quite a few profs that will not re-schedule exams for a football game.  If it is MUC-UWW, Mount fans should leave Thursday, does that mean UWW fans would need to leave Wed to drive down?  At least there will be Stone Station.

Yeah, tell that to the Linfield and UHMB fans. Recent history notwithstanding, this weekend isn't programmed around the habits and expectations of a specific fan-base. You know how many other fans at other schools would trade a WEEK of work for a trip to Salem? Cry me a river. You should be so lucky.

Both of whom will be barred from a Friday night game.

Damn right it's about the TV money. What, you DON'T want ESPN to program the game?

Oh, snap, I should of told you-- I've TOTALLY been there a couple times. INSANE.

Right. And I just watched BYU and UCF because I'm a huge fan of mediocre FBS.

The University policy doesn't let us move exams. If Mount makes the Stagg, the change in game time means a lot of us will not be able to go.  I have an exam that is scheduled for Friday from 1:00-4:00. Unless the University changes around the exam schedule there will be no traveling to the game for me this year.

I don't get either point.

So local youth kids and dads, who typically go to or play in Friday night football games will suddenly be unable or unwilling to go to a Friday night Stagg Bowl?? Their seasons will be over by this point. A friday night game shouldn't be any sort of obstacle for them.

It's a primetime slot for the game. I just watched a BYU - Central Florida game last night that I had no vested interest in. It was just a chance to watch football on Friday night. No way I watch either team play on a typical Saturday with other options.

Who has finals scheduled for 6 pm on a Friday night? I've never heard of that before. Do Mount or other schools actually schedule finals that late on a Friday?

I understand that it's less than ideal for some Mount and Whitewater folks. But there are other people and fans out there that it probably does benefit. It's a bummer if some fans of your fans can't make it to see your team play. But while recent history says it's highly likely that it'll be Mount and Whitewater again, why don't we let the season play out before we right your names in with permanent marker  ;)

A student from Mount Union or Whitewater can't leave an exam at 4PM on Friday and get to Salem in time for the game.  Neither for that matter can any student from any school more than 3 hours away. A Friday night game will reduce fan attendance from the participating schools.  It punishes those with the greatest interest in attending, which really doesn't fit with the image of DIII.  But when TV is involved (which I agree is good for DIII exposure) fans don't count for much.  Dollars rule, and the NCAA buckles under to the networks.  Hopefully the locals will turn out for a Friday night game (weather permitting), otherwise Salem Stadium is going to look rather empty on your TV screen. (Not a good thing for the image of DIII).
12-0 = 13

The perfect business model, where your employees work for free and do whatever you tell them-NCAA.

So many of the fans from whatever teams get there might have problems making it in person. They are playing for the loving of the game, so what if the stands are empty.  (Irony Font) God forbid academics stand in the way of an all mighty NCAA Championship game. duh

BCS "Guru" Massey picks Mount to win 47-0 and gives Wilmington a 0% chance of winning, but that's why we play the game????

OK, I feel better

Stagg Bowl at 4:00 PM Friday afternoon is lost for Pacific time zone.  If it's on Satellite radio I might catch it in my afternoon commute.  :-\
