Nice find WarhawkDad...

Raider 68 - In your opinion, was the OAC weaker/stronger this year over last year, if so by how much?

BoBo,

Turnabout is fair play! In the case of WIAC 2010 vs. 2011 (not including UWW) the number of wins in the conference and overall was about the same per D3football summaries. On your question I will reply in another post! +k  :)

2010 vs. 2011 is about the same, so overall there was no change in the OAC. A few inprovements of some teams B-W, Heidelberg, but some decline of others ONU and Otterbein from the prior year.

I think the conference was improved this year.  It was more competitive, and I thought the level of play was better.

Not sure how 70's came up with his screwy numbers - maybe his girlfriend just selected her favorite numbers based on the pretty sound of them - but I'm almost 100% certain UWW was never #1 nationally in total offense last year. This year offense UMU #7, UWW #24; Defense UMU #1 (when have we seen that before?), UWW #18.  But you forgot one important stat for this year - Total Average attendance UWW #1 (8,040/game) UMU #13 (4,043). Also, Mount was probably #1 in defense heading into the Stagg only to come out #4 (if that number is actually correct). Seriously, posting the link where you found last years numbers would be helpful. I simply don't believe your numbers are correct for last year. It would be interesting to see what the numbers were like heading into the playoffs and then after the Stagg Bowl.

What the Heck does Total Average Attendance have to do with this conversation?

How about this random fact:
UWW Undergraduate Enrollment - 11,500
UMU Undergraduate Enrollment - 2,200

Or This:

Percentage of Average Attendance to Undergraduate Enrollment:
UWW:    69.9%
UMU:  183.77%

National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

I would say about the same in the WIAC.  However, other than Stevens Point, who declined significantly (IMO) & Platteville, when healthy, improved significantly, the other schools did show some glimmer of hope that they are improving. May not have shown in their won/loss record (non-conference schedule included top compitition) - but from an eye ball test, they look to be improving as teams, showed a lot more toughness, and had improved individual performances from a lot of younger players. Can they continue upward, and in UWSP's case, rebound from an off year, is the big question mark heading into their off-season.

It was about as irrelevant a "stat" as 70's were wrong!!  ;)   :o  Plus it was the only one I could find where UWW has a clear advantage over UMU!!  ;)

When I was in school, not all the students went to games (being at a commuter school most went home to their cities and towns for the weekend)...when did that change Dad?

I just assumed Bobo was intending the satire font, the absence of which  70's has noted in the past.

Mount's injury substitutions have revealed (again)the depth of the talent pool. Oh my: Alex Nicholls, Shannon Stewart, they just keep on coming.

I too loved the  impact of Coach K pulling the entire O-line in response to yet another careless penalty. Teachable moment. ;D

This year we have seen evidence of improved OAC preparation,  challenging  us on both sides of the ball. I am grateful that QB's and receivers are having experience with better pass defense earlier in the season. I'm glad that our Genius of Adjustment has seen the run stymied in the redzone many too many times already in the race.  I'm glad that BW already tested our ability to recover a lead and to convert the first down when our game depends on it.
I'm also grateful that facing the prospect of a potential loss to BW two weeks ago allowed me to visit that "fear" and to realize how little significance it has in the scheme of things.  The events last weekend, remembering our vets and then praying for WR Clayton #18  kind of underline all that, needless to say.

Lets have a game or five.

LOL, very nice.  I have to admit, I had no idea where Bobo was going with the attendance thing other than being proud or advocating a home field advantage.

UWW is so far behind UMU in EVERY statistical category known to man.  However, the only one they can lay claim to is the highest home attendance average.  Get it now?   ;)

Dammit BoBo!  You with your subtle, sneaky humor...we are just simple Midwest folks here!  We don't have your high fulootin' Far East influences with your Geisha Girls (ok...maybe that's Japan)......sushi (ok..maybe Japan again).....growing economy (does ANYONE have that in the world these days)....and...errr...umm....just plain ole' sophistication of a world traveler.

Here's to both hoping the other loses so we don't have to see each other again in the Stagg, but knowing that it will take one HELL of a game from another team to prevent either Purple Power from reaching the Stagg once again.
