Great effort by both defenses today.   Easily the best defense the Raiders have seen this season.

Offensively?  The Raiders, especially Murray, did just enough in the first half to get a lead and turned it over to the 3rd string QB to not screw it up.  Mathie also had a great game punting and the KO coverage was the best I've seen from Mount all year.  Was afraid of Chamblee and his KO return ability but Mount's coverage unit played very well.

Congrats to Wabash on a good season.  With only a few seniors, I'm sure we'll be seeing you again next year.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

70's:  Why must you be a complete jack-wagon?  Walking by the visiting fans at halftime flipping the bird is a great sportsmanlike gesture.  If you're going to act like that, please leave the #99 Mount jersey at home.

Speaking from personal experience, a hip pointer can be a very significant injury.  Painful and limits range of motion. Depending on how injured he is in that joint with swelling Piloto could be out a couple weeks. Maybe Doc Todd (formerd3db) can weigh in once he gets back home to Michigan??

Was returning the favor to a couple jackasses

If you put it in context, we just scored at the north end and I was walking back to the south end and took a rather verbal barrage

Congrats to Mount Union on the win today.  The "Machine" is as advertised.  Also great hospitality (the pre-game buffet was tremendous), great fans (not too many students at the game though?).

Saw where Wesley had two TD receptions today that went for 50+ yards --- can't imagine that happening against the Purple Raiders D next week.  Hope Piloto is OK.

And here's hoping it won't be 9 years before we meet again!  8-)
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Few thoughts on the game, IMHO. Great to sit with formerd3db, He really knows D3 football:

1. Congrats to the Wabash fans who came to the game, nice group!

2. Wabash has a solid young team and as HScoach mentioned they will be a contender again.

3. Was a little surprized that the Giants did not run more early on.

4. Again, the Raider defense was outstanding! Best Mount has had in a few years!

5. The offense was forced to close the playbook much earlier than planned, when your two QBs are not in
game, but QB Burke maintained his poise.

6. Hopefully M. Piloto will be ready for next week. He looked sharp early, but give credit to the Wabash
    pass rush.

7. Great crowd on an early December Saturday and the weather was one of the best for playoffs.

8. We will see QB McSweeney again and we know how good he is. The Raiders will need the offense
on Saturday to stay with Wesley! :)

Congrats MT. from the Benedictine following to, we r pulling for you guys!

now 70's, why would you think it will be a quiet week chatting with me.  there are even some other posters from wesley now, so we can at least have a larger conversation.  my early thoughts are that if Mount has to use the freshman QB then Wesley has a very good chance of winning the game.  2 years ago the difference was a guy named Shorts and he is no longer at Mount.  It would seem like points will be tough to come by next week.  If Wesley can play a clean game they will have as good a chance as anyone in sometime to beat Mount.  I am trying to decide when I am heading out.  Skunks, will you guys be getting together on Friday evening?  If so I may hit the road at 2 and be there by 8 - 830.  Hopefully some other Wesley folks, the WDEL radio guys maybe, will make the get together.  If not, do you guys still do the Mexican breakfast?  If so I will make sure I get there in time for that.  Semis 5 times in 7 years puts Wesley at the top of the second tier teams in my opinion.

wesleydad,

Congrats on your team reaching the semi's again. There is better than a good chance you will see the "big guy" Matt Piloto on Saturday. In any event it will be a good one. I hope I can make it and catch up with you! :)

Welcome back Wesleydad. I would tend to agree with your assessment that if we have to go with a freshman QB your chances are good, but if Piloto is back and the freshman is back to a situational player, we got a game

I'm sure the plan will be friday night at Rey's again. There was a good turnout last night and the wings are fabulous...well watch out for the voodoo ones! :D :P  The Wabash contingent that made it last night was a terrific group and we had a blast. Hope Saintsfan and a rest of the gang can make it like last year.

Let me see if I have this right.  A supposedly grown man gets yelled at by a bunch of college kids and he's not mature enough to just ignore it?  Nice display.

Here's hoping Piloto can play next week.  If not, LK is looking at what may be the most challenging week in his coaching career.

First, I want to thank Raider68 for being such a great host and showing me his/your alma mater.  I had a great time and it was a fantastic day, wonderful weather and as Raider68 said, it was great to see such a large crowd at this playoff game.  Fans of both sides were enthusiastic in cheering on their teams.  It was exciting to see the game and my return visit to Mount's campus was most enjoyable - I made it back safely after the somewhat long drive, but it wasn't bad at all and went smooth.  Raider68 as a former Mount player, also knows his football very well.  BTW, thank you very much Raider68 for the Mount hat!  It is a great addition to my collection of college football hats, especially from DIII. I was able to briefly chat with a couple of Wabash fans; sorry I and Raider68 missed meeting up with others of you Wabash faithful who were at the game.

I can't add much more to Raider68's comments about the game, other than to say that, I, too, was surprised that Wabash didn't run more early.  Unfortunately, while they have a huge front line, their blocking was not good today and also, I was surprised at the limited pass patterns used i.e. which, IMHO, were too simple and just not enough variety as well as predictable.  Anyway, congrats to Wabash on a fine season.  Also, congrats to Mount's team and staff and all you Mount fans on another playoff win and good luck next week.  I hope the weather will again be nice then as well.

D3 & 68.....

I totally disagree with you concerning Wabash attempting to run the ball more.  When you run into the brick wall over and over and over (something like 14 carries for 11 yards or vica versa), you realize that unless you change up everything you are doing run-wise, you are NOT going to run the ball against that team.

For Wabash to take the next step, they need to find a premier running back, or at least one that is good for close to 100 yards a game.  They have all the other pieces.

Murray is turning into the real deal.  He finished runs, picked his holes, and ran with authority.  I think the freshman can throw much better than we realize, he just wasn't asked to do so, with good reason.  Can he win a semi-final...who knows?

Wesleydad....with Mount's defense, and your head coach's tendancy to get a little "strange" in big games offense play call-wise, I like Mount's chances even with the freshman playing.  If Pilato is able to go and fairly healthy, Mount is definitely the favorite.

Mexican breakfast...it's a 15 year tradition.  We discussed last night about getting together again this coming Friday if Mount happened to win.  We will make that decision within the next few days.  It will be fun to see all the Wesley guys again.
