Wesleydad, we'll still be getting together friday night. The wings and beer are too good to pass up, lol. Need an idea how many will be coming as we'll try to reserve enough space.
Saintsfan, hope to see you there too as Theaprof will have some wings you'll have to try  :P ;)

mtfan, I am not sure who may or may not be coming.  I posted something on the Wesley site and did not get any response, so it may just be me.  I will be there no later than 9, hope that is not to late.  Like wings and beer, not necessarily in that order. :D

Looks like we won't be getting in until late Friday night, so we won't be able to join you. Thanks for the invite though.  Can't wait till game time!

Anyone heard any updates on Matt Piloto availability for Saturday? :-\

Piloto and Seamen both have been taking snaps this week in practice.  We should be in go shape.

Was 2009 the first time that Mount has played Wesley?

SaintsFan,

Yes, Mount won 24-7!

Most of the game was more competitive than the score looks.  We were only down 10-7 until Superman, I mean Cecil Shorts, took over at QB and picked us apart.

I'm not sure anybody has the speed to get 70-yard TDs agaisnt UMU's defense unless UMU's defense makes a mistake...a rare occurance, indeed.

UWW has had a few RB's with the speed to do it.

The question remains does anyone else in DIII have those players. Wesley get's their chance to prove it on Saturday. We'll see in a few days, but UMU has pretty good track record when it comes to matching up with teams athletically (understatement of this century...literally).

I would be surprised if we don't give up 2 defensive TD's and at least a field goal after a blocked punt.

Welp. Can't say you aren't confidant! Go get'm, Wolverines!

You're granting UMU a 17 point head start in a game that you're presumably trusting could still turn in your favor? Wesley will lose a hundred times out of a hundred if they give up 2 defensive TD's and a blocked punt. I'm chuckling as I'm even typing this. That's crazy talk. It's just.... It's crazy.

With Wesley's top defender out due to an injury. Murry should not a have a problem reaching the 150-200 yard mark. It looks like Wesley needs to find a way to control/reduce all the personal fouls.  118/ 1113 this year.

Wesley better hope that Murray re-aggravated his injury in practice, that Piloto ain't playing, and that by some grace of God the Wolverine offense isn't undressed in a very public way. They better score, like, five touchdowns and they better not settle--ever--for a field goal. Also, they better not have any turnovers that flip field position. But all of that seems, just, bonkers.

No one seems to be talking about Wesley's LOSS this season. Isn't that significant? It is. That's significant. Someone not named Mount Union figured out how to beat you already. And now you're playing Mount Union. Don't give them 17 points.

RaiderBacker,

Thanks for the info. I must admit, I am more surprized to hear that N. Seaman is getting reps! :)

Big words from a Wesley defender:

Quote"I think this is going to be the year where the nation realizes that Wesley's a powerhouse, and we're going to take over," said Phil Cooper, a sophomore defensive end for the Wolverines and a Delcastle graduate.

"That might just be me and my Wesley spirit talking, but a lot of people will see Saturday afternoon that it's done with that all-purple Stagg Bowl. It's over. No more purple dominance. We're going to get some navy blue in there."

Good luck on Saturday Purple Raiders!  Do you what y'all do and things will work out fine.  I won't be able to watch on Saturday (got a big hoops game at home agaisnt Wooster), but I'll be checking up with interest on the live stats.

I'm thinking something like 24-10 seems about right for this game.

Nothing like manufactured rah-rah from a sophomore. I wonder which coach's Monday speech he's parroting.

I thought the very same thing.  Yup, that's a sophmore for ya.   ;D  Be confident, Son, but I'd suggest maybe just a little less bravado when speaking on a public forum.   8-)

413,

A public posting and/or interview proclaiming victory and/or replacing the Tier 1 teams by a player has happen to Mount Union before and probably UWW. Confidence is great, but it should be controlled, IMHO! :)

If Neal Seaman is indeed taking snaps in practice then either this is really the season of miracles, or LK is determined not to have the teams fortunes in the hands of a Freshman. Look for Burke to be the disaster QB but still play about 4-6 plays just to keep him ready if needed down the road. Even playing that few snaps will serve him well experience wise.

Note to the Tommies: If you let that Coppage kid break Kmics record this week you have no pride...or defense. Man Up and make tackles!

Think that is what everyone is saying when they take on the purples. What did you expect him to say? "I see a great game, but I dont think we're gonna win this one." Hes not 'proclaiming' victory. He believes he can win. Dont knock the kid for that. I like confidence, only time it should be controlled is if its cocky. Dont really think thats cocky.

PurpleSuit

I'd say that a kid with 15 tackles on the year saying things like, "we're going to take over" and that the "all-purple Stagg Bowl" is "over" and "done" and "no more purple dominance," is pretty cocky and sure sounds like a proclamation of victory.  As the others have said, perhaps a more experienced player would have responded with more tact
