PG's contract is sick!! He went from under $600k/year to a 5 year deal worth $42.5million with $20million guaranteed and an $11million signing bonus! I am really happy for him - think its great - BUT why did god bless me with massive intellect instead of blazing speed? ;Dhttp://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7682579/2012-nfl-free-agency-pierre-garcon-announces-signing-washington-redskins

It will be interesting to see who makes it back to the playoffs first: Indy or Washington.

The way the teams are now I would think Washington is the safer bet, at least they can play some D.

Plus, you have to remember that the NFC East was won with 9 games this past year.  I think Philly will be better, not sure yet what to expect out of Dallas, and it will be interesting which of last year's Giants teams shows up.  Plus, if you put the two teams on the field against each other next year, I think the Redskins would beat the Colts more often.  All that together makes me think that the skins have a better chance of playing more than 16 games sooner than the Colts.

That is the truth. How did things get so out of hand?

In the early 1930s George Halas (then owner and coach of the Chicago Bears) attempted to induce Mike Michalske (then an all-pro player with the Green Bay Packers and currently a member of the Pro HOF)  to jump from the Packers to the Bears with an offer of $100 per game.

The Colts offered P. Garcon a 5 year deal for $35mill, and the Redskins countered with $42.5 for the same 5 years. Hopefully he can donate some to his alma mater! :)

Yes, how times have changed.  That is interesting Frank. Also, I'm sure you and others recall that Halas also offered First Heisman Trophy winner the late Jay Berwanger of the University of Chicago a contract of about $9,000 to play for the Bears.  Berwanger, of course, declined that, went on to serve in WWII, then founded his own business in the Chicago area and became a millionaire himself with a very successful business.

I'm going to have to figure out how to add B-W into my screen name.  Son #2 decided last week that he will be a Yellow Jacket this fall.

I'm going to need a helicopter.   :-\

Good luck to your son (and you)!  I assume that you are aware that for many posters on this board, B-W is known as 'the flaming pile'! 8-)  Hope you've got a thick skin! ;D
