Texas ball can be quite different.  I have a former player that moved from here in AZ to Katy HS in TX.  He's considered one of their stud linemen and he still played below varsity as a junior, getting to dress in some varsity contests.  They don't just have JV level there.  Often big TX high schools have multiple freshmen teams, multiple JV teams and a Junior team as well as the varsity.  It's insane.
Texas LOVES it's FOOTBALL!

I was in a public ESPN fantasy baseball draft Tuesday with a WR from North Central.  He was surprised to learn I knew of NCC and was amazed at how small of a world it is when I told him that his defensive coordinator was one of my coaches at ONU.  Small world.  He seemed like a great kid and represented himself and his school well amongst the idiots in a free fantasy baseball draft.

Re: Namdar - I don't know him and what I've seen of him was that one draw play (I haven't even watched the YouTube vids), I think it may be fair to compare his HS to Mount Union at their respective levels. I'd take the Mount JV QB over the Wilmington QB any day of the week (sorry Quakers).

Given the one play I have seen of his, it probably is a bit misguided to think of him as the potential starter next year, but with Neal's injury history and Piloto's in-game history/playing basketball this winter, it makes me wonder if this was the guy LK was referring to.

Also, for Burke, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets moved to the other side of the ball to play a Nick Driskell / Matt Kostelnik type position where his athleticism leads to big plays.

pradierguy,

IMHO, Coach Kehres wants to have his best options. After the last two years, he just wants
the best at the QB position and will not care what year he is. Prior to 2010, he would stick with an upperclassman, very unlikely in 2012. :)

It really is a small world, because, like yourself, I am always suprised to meet people that are either related to people I work with, coach, or who know members of my family. As a matter of fact, I started a conversation with a guy who had NC football shorts on. Turns out he graduated from NC in '09. Really nice guy, as are most of the kids I've met from NC.

A little love for the UT Rockets - afterall the LK Coaching Tree has branches as well.

A nice shout out to Mount Union - much better than one previously listed (the Browns guy). I still remember Coach Candle showing up after my class to talk about a player who had not attended in 3 weeks. All he said was "I don't care if he has already failed. I don't want special treatment. But he will not miss class again and if he does call me." Then he looked at the kid and said "if you can't show up for class, don't show up to the field".  Good guy and I never had another issue with the kid even being late.

Same subject, different story from footballscoop.com. "D-III lessons applied at the D-I level" is the title.

Kyle Miller signed by the Colts, per the team's beat writer.

QuoteColts sign TE Kyle Miller. He's 6-5, 257 and raw, but adds a body to position of need. Product of Mount Union, which produced Pierre Garcon

That makes at least two D-III alums with the Colts right now because former UMHB player Jerrell Freeman posted a photo of his locker on Facebook yesterday.

I ran into two guys from D3 backgrounds in Charlotte Amalie USVI last week.. one had recently graduated from Illinois Wesleyan (played basketball) the other had played at Wheaton and knew Coach Swider.  As we were talking another guy piped in that he had attended Marietta.  Small world.

How's he going to balance this with being the head coach at Columbus Grove HS?

Congrats to Kyle Miller - hope he makes the roster (should have made in Jacksonville). Saw a thing on Pierre (bleacherreport). I don't know who Gordie Gold (aside from the one responible for writing the piece) but what an idiot. He states that "Garcon is getting paid almost double what Moss is paid, yet you could easily make the argument that Moss is the better wide receiver. Over the past three seasons, Garcon has had 184 receptions, 2,496 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. In that same span, Moss has had 209 receptions, 2,601 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns."

I mean with the stats being equal (PG avgs 13.6yd/rec and Moss is at 12.4)- how can one easily make any argument other than PG has been as good as Moss AND is 5 years younger? This is the kind of crap that makes me wonder (sometimes aloud) how in god's name a jackwagon can get hired using this type of logic? BTW it is Santana Moss - not Randy  ;D
