A shame Garcon had to pull that stunt. After his time in the league, one would think he would know how to act.  IMO he made an ass of himself, and I hope he is fined, or at least reprimanded by coach or league.

Honestly, it is only a pre-season game and I believe that the coaches spoke to him in film or even on the sideline during the game and made sure that it was known that this wouldn't be allowed in the regular season. As for making a fool for himself or being fined, I don't think he did or deserves to be, it actually spark some life into the Redskin faithful here in the mid-atlantic. As for the league to penalize him over this, it is trivial for a pre-season game. NFL have bigger issues to deal with than paying attention to a flip in the endzone for a WR in a Pre-season game. Just my opinion of course.

Garcon's actions were completely out of control. He should have showed more class and hid a cell phone inside the padding of the field goal post. Well there it is, clear as day, the difference between a D3 and a D1 football background. ::)

Cecil with another Purple Raider preseason TD tonight

I have to disagree with the headline regarding Mount loses two key pieces...IMHO Murry didn't want to play that bad or he would not have put himself in that position and with MP, and I was a fan of his, he didn't quite make it to his potential. For Mount to win another title the QB must be better and you have to have the All-American running back...Murry was not. LK has done his best but I believe even he knew he was playing with less than a full deck with regards to a QB and RB.

Spin it as you like but these guys each started in the Stagg Bowl last year and combined to start about 22 games. It doesn't change my opinion of how the season goes for Mount Union but at the very least, it affects the depth at each position.

dlippiel

Dlip agrees, to say they are not key pieces really isnt accurate. Both players may not have been Cecil Shorts or Nate Kmic but both, as Pat mentioned, started in the Stagg and were significant parts of the Mighty Mount. They probably don't break the season for UMU, but dlip feels they will be missed in some capacity.

Saints WR Joe Horn pulled the cell phone celebration.  He played at Itawamba Community College before going to the CFL and never played a down in D1.  Come on dlip!

Both Cecil Shorts and Kyle Miller on second team of the depth charts for the Jags and Colts. Hope they both see considerable playing time! :)

I see Chris Favazzo listed on the roster now.  Anyone hear anything on that?  I'm sure Lenny is in the midst of editing the roster since camp just started so it could be a typo.  If not, a nice bonus for the DL.

PurpleSuit

I had heard that Favazzo was returning not too long after last season ended.  It was shocking not to see him listed on the roster.  I would bet that it is not a typo. It will be nice to have three starting DL returning with Diesel moving to LB.  TJ Lattimore was added to the roster as well, should be the beginning of a lot of updates by Lenny.

I've got Mount at 184, with 99 freshmen

Dr. Acula

Thanks, Suit.  I updated my post.

I always like to do the state breakdown every year.  Kids from 13 states in the freshmen class.  No surprise OH and FL are best represented again.  Seems FL has overtaken PA for good on that.  I also wonder if we'll start to see GA and/or TX overtake the other border states in numbers.

54 - OH
15 - FL
6 - PA
4 - NY, TX
3 - GA, IL, IN
2 - CA, MI
1 - MD, TN, VA

Good god  :o

Out of curiosity, how many will they keep? Doesn't mount fill out 2-3 JV teams?
