Reading on Twitter regarding the scrimmage:

- Burke and Lattimore started the scrimmage at QB and RB. TD on first drive. WR were Collins, Denton, and Moore. Stewart at TE

- Seaman came out for second drive

pradierguy

Seaman hit Collins on 40 yd. TD.

pradierguy,

Thanks for the info! :)

Also interesting that Skilliter started at CB and Favazzo at guard.

PurpleSuit

Favazzo was used at OL while at Kent, Modrak started at OT as well

HScoach

They've got much more quality depth at DL than they do at OL.  Glad to see Favazzo at guard.  He is a good DE, but could be a stud at G.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Agreed HScoach, the Favazzo move makes total sense.  The two things that raised my eyebrow were Skilliter, a guy who had the 2nd most carries on the team last year (I think), starting at CB and Burke getting the first series on O at QB.  Now the latter very well could mean nothing, but hey it's something to talk about on here until 9/1.  As for the former, is this setting up a Lattimore/Simon backfield?  I think that would have been the best bet heading into camp so it wouldn't be a surprise.

p.s. Kudos to Lenny for tweeting updates today from there.  The guy does all the little things.  Lucky to have him.

Even though they came up short today, it was cool to watch Trotwood on ESPN.  I coached a bunch of their linemen up for the last two years working the Bayless Camp in Dayton.  It's neat to see kids you've worked with on national television.  I wish them luck in spite of their tough start this season.

reality check

My new school won their first varsity contest 53-6 Friday night.  It was nice to be on the good side of a scoreboard for a change.  We open up JV play Thursday night in a tough one.

I've also accepted the varsity girls basketball position there and will be heading that program effective immediately.  I'm excited to have a program of my own after spending 4 years as the JV girls coach at my old school.  It is quite weird to be coaching in a different school/district than where I teach though.  That may end up changing soon too.

Spreads are posted ... thank you for your patience.  The first week is always my hardest.

Chess4Me won the regular season last year; B.W. jacket & gobash83 won the playoffs.  Time for the rest of you to get your revenge.

Please be aware we have a Friday game this year ... in Ireland.  Please get the John Carroll game pick to me before it starts or else I will ignore it.

Gentlemen and Ladies ... PLAY ON!!!

Congratulations RC. Looks like this are going well.

Game notes for the Franklin game are up including the 2 deep.  Always fun to see if any freshmen crack the 2 deep.  Looks like 3 on D.  DE Tom Lally, SS Alex Kochoff and LB Hank Spencer.  Lally was a stud at Ed's.  Not familiar with the other 2 guys.

As expected, seniors Seaman, Lattimore and Simon listed as starters in the backfield.  Oddly no Chris Denton at WR?  He's listed as the punt returner, but not at WR.  I find it hard to believe if he's healthy he's not in there at WR w/ Collins and Moore.

Blair Skilliter has indeed moved to D and is starting at CB.  Prendergast listed as the backup RB.

Franklin listed 13 Positions (5 OL, QB, FB, TB, TE, 2 WR, 2 SE) on their Offensive Depth Chart.  I guess they're going all out with their Spread Offense this year!  ;)

Any word on how Cecil's preseason has been going? I haven't heard much. His roster spot isn't in danger with all those other WR's is it?
