Pat, thanks for the clarification on the Heidelberg ranking. Perfect logic.   It is amazing to me that you keep all that stuff straight.  I can't remember the middle names of my children...
Btw, the Mount second offensive line got a lot of minutes Saturday, and with the JV schedule, they will be ready for the future,  I also cannot quit reflecting on the post by HS Coach about LK's movement of players and the difference it has made.  This is obviously LK stirring the pot for a Stagg run and win...He appears to REALLY want that trophy back...gotta love it as a Raider..

So....this year, Coach Larry REALLY wants that trophy back.  I guess we UW-W fans should be thankful that whole thing didn't kick in for the last three years.  ;)

Obviously, did not mean he did not want to win, nor take anything away from WWW and their deserved championships, but when you get it handed to you three years in a row by a superior team, and you are the competitor that he is, I believe he has made a concerted effort to evaluate and make changes in areas that he saw might be keeping him from being successful against WWW...time will tell.

The spreads for Week 6 are posted.  Good luck!

Absolutely. I get it. Was just messing with you a bit.  LK is a legend without a doubt.  And without a doubt, the changes he made are IMPRESSIVE. He has a pretty amazing way of seeing things others simply don't see.  While obviously I'm very proud of what UW-W has accomplished, what Mount Union has done for all these years has been RIDICULOUS! Good luck the rest of the way.  I have no doubt there will be Mount Union purple in the Stagg again this year.  Hopefully, UW-W will progress and give LK the chance at direct redemption/revenge or whatever it may be called.

Pat,

Your insights/posts to the OAC are appreciated.  Especially, considering how busy you are, attending 3 of 4 UWW games.  That info info from a recent WIAC post.

I recall someone asking you why you don't attend MUC games.  You're reply was something to the effect that, "There will be time enough for that during the play-offs.")  Were your 3 UWW games play-off games?  Do you expect UWW not to be  a play-off team?

PT

I actually explained this unusual circumstance in the podcast, but I'll boil it down for you.

Game 1: Friday night, easy choice since I was already planning to be in Chicago on Thursday.
Game 2: $89 each way on Delta to O'Hare and I saw a second game on that trip.
Game 3: Wasn't in the original plans, but the first four weeks of the season made this a necessity from a news perspective.

I am sure that if Mount Union had already lost a game and was then playing a ranked team four and a half hours from me, I would go see that game, too. In fact, I saw Mount Union at UW-Oshkosh in 2010 in basically the exact same circumstance.

Any questions?

Yes I have one question.  Can you transfer me any of those $89 tickets you have for Delta??

Does anyone know if there was any special significance to the two teams huddling up at the end of the game for what looked like a group prayer?  Was it the multiple sclerosis issue or something else?

Don't they do that after every game? I know it happens after each game at Ohio Northern. Just a general group prayer.
Gary.

Saturday was coaches for a cure for MD and Mount Union hosted a family with a child who suffered from this horrible disease.  He was on the sideline with his family and perhaps the huddles had something to do with that...just a thought..

Doesn't usually happen after our games.  I was just curious.

Actually, a case can be made that coach LK has put more emphasis on winning the Stagg this year.  Didn't he say after losing the Stagg in 2010 that he was going to have to come back and win the next 3 out of 4?  Since Mt lost last year as well, that puts the pressure on to win 3 in a row.  No wonder he's juggling the line up like he is- definately on a mission.

On a non-related DIII note...did anyone see the guy from Canada win $725 K on his pro football betting ledger? He was 15 for 15! He had the Seahawks over the Packers! And his daughter helped him with the pick...so the replacement refs were good for something after all!  :o

Didn't see that - but what about the 24 year old college student that made over $275,000 playing fantasy football in the new daily leagues! Sorry - I think I hear that radio spot 5 times a day while driving.

Welp, this week's slate of games...well...it kinda stinks.  mr_mom's spreads confirmed that as I think every game has at least a 2 TD spread this week.  So what's the most likely upset?  I'd have to say BW @ ONU.  Sure Northern lacks offense.  But guess what?  So does Musky and they almost pulled off the feat.  I think ONU is better than Musky.  So maybe they cause a couple turnovers and surprise us.  Other than that I just don't see any of the other games being very close.  This is definitely a week to listen to the Witt/Wabash game instead or something.

For the Raiders the only questions are things like "Will all 4 QB's play?" and "Will Prendergast have more carries than Lattimore and Skilliter combined?" and "Will Nichols be the leading receiver?"

Dr. Acula,

IMHO, the Raider starters will play most if all the first half. The 2nd team line will go for most all the second half, since the travel roster is very reduced from home games. I doubt Mount will bring 4 QB's and we will see a wide variation at RB. The key is get the game under control early, give the 2nd O line as much PT as possible, control field position, work on the kicking game
as much as possible and avoid any injuries. The outcome and score will be the by-product of those mentioned. :)
