Canton repository said they set the record for the ncaa of 6 shutouts in a row.  They could have been wrong.  They were wrong,  Yale has the record of 35 shutouts in a row  from 11/27/1890 to 11/07/1893.  Oh well six in a row is still amazing.

I did a google search for "NCAA football record for most consecutive shutouts" and got Tennessee with 17 from Nov. 5th 1938 to Oct. 12th 1940. I removed "record for" and got Michigans 11 game streak starting in 1901; Tuskegee with 7 from 1908-09...but alas I see Yale with 35. Sounds good to me. OK Raiders only 30 more and the record is yours!!! On second thought I would just settle for #11 and call it a day.

Cecil gets his first start today and shows he should have been starting all along! 2 receptions, 61 yards and a 42 yard TD! 3 more quarters to play. Congrats to Cecil. Unfortunatly PG was inactive against the Giants. Maybe next week.

Word on Pierre is he has a torn tendon in his foot rather than an "inflamed capsule on his toe." If so, he may not play for a couple more weeks.

Berg moves up a couple spots to #17 this week.

I was glad to see that Wilm went out and won that game.  Put together a nice drive to get the go ahead FG and then sealed it with a pick.  Good for them.  Can't imagine suffering through a losing streak like that and trying to keep grinding every week in practice.

Maybe it was only me, but while I knew Oshkosh was good I still thought UWW would find a way to win.  I don't know I guess it's just me thinking "Hey, it's UWW.  This may not be their best squad, but they're winners.  Leipold is a great coach.  They want that AQ.  They'll figure out a way to beat Oshkosh just like they did Platteville."  But all credit to Oshkosh.  They got it done.  I'm not educated enough to know what UWW's pool C chances are, but I'd think they'd want Berg to lose twice and the same with the CCIW crew so there are fewer 9-1 candidates in good conferences.

I think, because of their history, that the NCAA will find someplace in the playoffs for UWW at  8-2.
12-0 = 13

He started well but tough way for him to end...fumbled the ball in OT to set up he Raiders' winning field goal.

rscl, if there are enough teams that have better criteria than uww they should not get in history or not.  i agree, they need to hope as many 1 loss teams lose as possible, but it has been broken down rather well by wallywabash on the pool c thread.  their work is cut out for them.

Anyone care to rank the following five Mt. Union quarterbacks purely on ARM STRENGTH?

Ballard-Borchert-Micheli-Burke-Namdar

Thanks!

HScoach

I don't remember any before Ballard, so in the last 20 years I'd rank arm strength as follows:

1.  Ballard - great arm allowed him to cut the gusting winds in Salem in '93 without missing a beat
2.  Borchert - best deep ball thrower of any Mount QB and much more athletic than most remember
3.  Adamson - very talented arm that was over shadowed by his RB's
4.  Jorris - you asked about arm strength, not accuracy or decision making.....Mike had a BIG arm
5.  Burke  -  Micheli is close, but Kevin has a better arm as a sophomore than Greg did as a sophomore.  I'm assuming Burke will grow into it just like Greg did with time in the weight room

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

It will be very difficult for WW to make it to the finals. You have to also take into consideration the fact that in Buff State conf, they have lost to several 2 lost teams .ie Alfred. How do you take WW over Alfred if the records are the same. There will also be several teams out there on the board with a better record and stronger strength of schedule.

HScoach

Mount gets some press from ESPN and it isn't Greg Easterhack running his yap.

Having seen most since Jimbo...

1  Ballard, by a mile
2  Adamson
3 Swivle-hips Borchert  (Adamson stronger arm, Borchert better touch, quicker delivery)
A kid who never played, but had a very strong arm, Joe Nairn.  Million dollar arm, .10c head

Congrats again to Coach Kehres on passing The Bear and very much in sight of Pop Warner. Also in maintaining the highest winning % status as welL
Great call on the game today HScoach and Ric, even when the to PA system had a tendency to bury your calls, your perspectives are refreshing when i'm unable to attend.
387-7 ...wow getting scary :o

And that was with the crowd mic unplugged and the windows shut.

Otterbein's PA system completely ruins the best pressbox in the OAC.  The setting is beautiful, the radio booths are isolated from each other and the site lines are great.  But the volume of the PA is just crazy which makes it the worst place to broadcast from.  Makes me wish for the old, open, almost falling down pressbox at Marietta.

This response is a bit late, but count your blessings. We (WRMU student radio) had to call the game from the scoreboard operator's booth!

mr_mom

OAC Pick-Em spreads are up.

Not many close games ... 185 points spread over 11 games.  [HCAC has 170 over seven ... it's a rough week!]

Praiderguy is still leading but within reach with three weeks to play.
