Ballard by a mile, then Adamson, and the rest....
I had an official who was the umpire in a Mount game tell me that Ballard threw a ball from one hash to the opposite sideline directly over his head...he had to duck, and the sound was something that he will never forget... He said he has done DII AND DIII games his career and has never seen that pass thrown with so much velocity, let alone heard the thing whiz by....
Reminds me of an old Pirate announcer, Bob Prince, he challenged a hitter to hit Sandy Koufax's "radio ball"  (you could hear it but could not see it...haha)

just noticed that 'Berg is currently second in the nation in scoring defense, only giving up 57 total points.  Which is more likely, Mount matching 'Berg's season total or the Student Princes matching Mount's 7 points given up?

PurpleSuit,

Good question! Last year it was 56-7 at Heidelberg. Based upon mr_mom's spread of +31.5, I would say it will be closer to the points the 'berg has given up already. If the game is one of big plays early for the Raiders then a 45-52 score is possible. IMHO, Heidelberg will score this week, but the  question is how often. Another punt return TD or a pick TD early, then it could be a long afternoon. I remember, not that long ago, a good JCU (Arth team) and a Cap (Pentello team)
came to Alliance undefeated, We'll see! :)

57 - 7 sounds very possible.  This Berg team is better than last year, but this Mount team is much better than last year.

In my less than humble opinion, I think 57-7 is too high.  Turnovers or special teams scores could slant the final result, but I would think it's more likely to be in the 49-20 or 41-17 range.   I will be very, VERY shocked if H'Berg doesn't score more than 14 points, 250+ yards of offense and doesn't severely test the Raider defense for the first time this season.

I realize H'Berg hasn't played anyone of note yet anymore than Mount has, but they've done exactly what you'd expect a good team to do.  They rank #10 in total offense, #11 in scoring offense and Cartel Brooks is the #3 rusher in the nation at 156 yds/game.

I knew they would have a good offense coming into the season, but the most impressive stats to me is their defensive numbers:
#2 scoring D
#5 pass efficiency D
#14 rushing D
#3 in sacks
#7 in tackles for loss
18 total interceptions

I fully expect Mount to win, and to do it rather comfortably at the end, but I surely don't expect another 57-7 blowout.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

And H'Berg should be even better in the near future as almost their entire offense is sophomores.

Former Stark County Player of the Year and Purple Raider Marcus Coldsnow passes away at age 35: http://fridaynightohio.com/news/former-stark-player-year-marcus-coldsnow-dies-cancer

Dr. Acula

Wow that's awful.  I knew Marcus.  We went to Mount at the same time (I was a year behind him) and I was friends with his suite mates.  Truly one of the nicest guys I met during college.  Far too young for a guy like that to pass.  Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family.

As a former Duke, our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Coldsnow family. Marcus followed his father's passion for coaching as well and was admired by so many. Seems the Lord needed a young coach to join his team, deepest sympathies to the Coldsnow family and friends.

Was LK on Mount's 1972 team? Can't remember. 1972 was the last time the "Berg won in Alliance.

As someone who lost his Dad to cancer when only 8 years old, the news of Coldsnow leaving behind a 5 year old child was especially biting.  May the Good Lord above comfort and bless his family. :'(
