From what I've read here about the qb situation is that they have similiar styles so a team preparing for Mount doesn't need to worry about preparing for 2 different qb's unlike Bruney/Burghart. Correct?

Playing separate halves is one thing but to run them in and out during the whole game can be a hindrance to the team as a whole. That's my story and I'm sticking by it.  ;D

Is Mount the byproduct of a Massive Football Program? YES  ;)  Will the Academic Card question be brought up by Shotty, I mean , Scotty due to the honest answer given by HS coach in reguards to Bugara? probably (real soon) OOPS --walked into that won  (SP) for smedIndy and OAC spelling  this week.  [ Don't  type fast or poorly on the NCAC board] it reflects poorly on the OAC ;)   Listening to PurpleRaider games via the internet does deprive me of the first hand  factual comments made by so-in-so's cousin said / and the dumb ass sitting next to me said  :o      HS-- The 2 Qb conversation is interesting. I am wondering if this is just the way things are at Mount and a few other programs? or if this is a thing of the future? I certainly do not mean to use this as an excuse for Purple, but with the rise in injuries at seemingly younger ages at the QB position, (at all levels) (except Brett Favre), this appears to be more common.  Since the odds of two QB's being significantly alike are slim, does this add an intentional dimension to ponder for D-coords?     MMMM--Love that cheese!

The reason for two(2) qb's is that neither qb has yet shown that he can be the starter. Both played last week, both played well, (not great), both had a int. in the red zone  etc. Neither said by their play that they are the one !

At this point I don't think any of us is in a position to be second guessing LK on "his decision" to play six QB's if he wants to.
I believe his desire is to win as many games as possible and to make the choices to accomplish that goal is his main concern. Does anyone believe there is a better choice at QB and LK is just ignoring that choice for some unknown reason?
My desire is to see him win any way he can. Legally.

If we have a stud next year great.

I think we are going to see two QB's tomorrow night at OSU and I think Tressel knows what he is doing too. Same goal different level win the national championship, even if D1 has no clue how to do it the right way.

I'm just thankful D3 has a way of doing it so we remove all speculation. Anyone else agree?

Raiderguy,
Can't agree with you more!! There definitely needs to be a playoff set up for D1 and it wouldnt even have to disrupt the bowl (money) set up. Just take the top 4 bowls  with a lottery drawing pairing the winners , ex. Rose Bowl winner vs Orange bowl winner etc .  two weekends in jan. and its settled the same weekend on saturday that the super bowl is played in the NFL.  just my opinion!  ::)

Obviously I'm in the minority when it comes to using 2 qb's in a game and that's ok. That's what this board is for...discussing thoughts and ideas. I am not second guessing LK in his decision to use 2 qb's rather if it hurts a team or helps it.

Does anyone know if there has been a college team, any division, who has won a national title using 2 qb's?

Most of MUC's champioship teams had a two qb offense.  First QB tore it up, second one came in for mop-up duty.   ;)

Hope web site says they were intercepted 6 times and JCU won 38-13.

JCU rolls as jdean said, 38-13.  6 interceptions, 5 in the first half.  Anthony Fanelli had 3 (he also had an 87 yard punt return for a TD), a freshman named Melragno (or something like that, and all I did was say his name all afternoon) had 2 including one for a TD.  Preseason All American Joe Motley was out with a sprained ankle.
Offensively the team looked pretty good.  Phillips had a 49 yard TD run (he ended up with 101 yds), and a nice fade for a TD pass.  Oing had 85 yards.  Based on this game this team should generate a little more excitement against Mount than last year's team did.

Toph:
What's the OU for # of interceps in JCU's next game?

After losing the first game 54-0, Witt started todays game with an opening kick return of one yd to the 4! Witt's TB then runs 96 for a TD and Witt led Dayton at the half 20-13. Dayton won 41-23  but still that is quite some turnaround from last weeks humiliation.

QuoteWhat's the OU for # of interceps in JCU's next game?

If you actually want to play, I'll toss out an OU of 2.  We all knew the corners would be good (they're back from last year).  Losing 2 great safeties was a worry, but this frosh and Catania (who had a couple of really hard hits) looked very good.  With Motley hopefully in next week I hope that the D can keep Carroll in it.

Also, Doug Phillips looked more comfortable at QB than he did last year (and he beat BW and Capital).  I think there's a reason to get excited about this team.

Congrats to you JCU posters on the win against our Dutchmen.  Obviously, JCU appears improved from last year.  Hope's offense appeared decent in last weekend's final annual intra-squad Blue/Orange scrimmage, however, 6 INTs doesn't cut it.  As I predicted, our defense needs much work.  Anyway, good luck the rest of the season.

All this early season pushing and shoving is fine, but could we finally get some good old OAC football going on. I survived yesterday with my Pee-Wee's losing, Mogadore HS getting embarrassed and OSU blowing their lead. I've had my black Saturday and I'm ready for the sun to come out. (Or perhaps the moon to come out in University Heights.)See you there.

Read today on blue-gray sky.blogspot.com:
Texas is very good, but one touchdown at the 'shoe, tOSU? Playing two quarterbacks is like dating Angelina Jolie. Seems like a great idea at the time, but you soon realize that managing multiple personalities ain't worth the trouble. Maybe Purdue will win the Big 1?.   :D
