I had a chance to catch berg today. They sure looked good. After a slow start they sure turned it on. I am more impressed now with Mt. after watching the student princes play then I was when I saw the raiders beat marietta and otterbein. Had a great time at a really nice little stadium. Met a lot of great folks from both Heidelberg and John Carroll. I can cross one more school off my list of colleges that play varsity football in ohio I haven't visited. Heidelberg was one of my best experiences.  Now the question I need to ask and sorry if this has been addressed before but is there any chance of Heidelberg hosting in the playoffs? I tend to think not myself. As much as I like watching a game there(standing up on the hill was fun) it just seems too small when it comes to seating. I don't know what the ncaa looks for when it picks sites other then the strongest team so maybe someone else has some idea if it is possible. Maybe Berg could host a game but at the other stadium.
Heidelberg does have plans in place to build a stadium at the site where they are now playing games... projected for 2013. If they do get to host a playoff game this year, I would think they might play it at the high school stadium, which is where they always played their game until two years ago when they moved them on campus. But just getting to the playoffs would be huge for the program and the school.

+1 for your second post.  I hate to see someone with no karma at all.  Welcome to the boards, and best of luck to the Berg.  Smack down BW, then hope the playoff gods are kind.

Yeah, I'd think they'd play at Frost-Kalnow if they did end up hosting this year.  While it's not on campus that's a nice field now.  And you're right, making the playoffs would be a big step.  Check that big one off the list and then you focus on hosting a game in your brand new place next year.

My memory may be faulty, but it seems to me that in the past when Cap and JCU went deep into the playoffs they played all of their games on the road, so it does not seem likely that the Berg would get to host one this year.  I think they are going to have to win the OAC to be assured of a home game.
12-0 = 13

Dr. Acula

It would be more a product of what's happened in the CCIW and NCAC than anything to do with the Berg.  Their resume will be basically the same as those OAC teams you mentioned, but that resume will stack up much better this year than most others because of the results in the other conferences (namely NC and Bash not going 9-1).

^ not with all the carnage that occurred on Saturday at NCC and Wabash, Heidelberg is very likely to get a home game.  Below is last weeks regional rankings:

NORTH
1    Mount Union    8-0    8-0 (Likely replaced with Oshkosh in North to move Mount east again and to split up the West's 3 10-0's)
2    Concordia-Chicago    8-0    8-0  (possibly the #2, even though they'll get drilled!)
3    North Central (Ill.)    7-1    7-1 (lost to Wheaton, but will still get the AQ)
4    Wabash    5-1    7-1    (lost to Oberlin, yikes)
5    Elmhurst    7-1    7-1  (probable #3 or #4 seed?)
6    Heidelberg    7-1    7-1  (probable #3 or #4 seed?)
7    Wittenberg    7-1    7-1   (can't imagine Witt passes Berg with the boost Berg will get in SoS against BW)
8    Adrian    7-1    7-1
9    Ohio Wesleyan    6-1    7-1
10    Franklin    6-1    6-2

If I was H'Berg, the only teams I'd be afraid of in the North Region are Oshkosh and North Central.  All the others are very beatable.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Didn't Ohio Northern host a game against Wittenberg a couple of years ago? I believe Wittenberg was the league champion and I know ONU was not.

Final week spreads are up.

Now is the time for someone to step up and spare me the embarrassment of winning my own contest.   :-[

Interesting slate this week.  UMU is going to get pushed a little by JCU.  Don't confuse that with a close game.  I just mean this isn't Wilm.  Myers will be airing it out.  The Streaks statistically have a good run defense.  There are a couple facets that should be challenged.  Or at least challenged more than they will be the following week.  I think the Raiders coast, but an evening affair in UH isn't a bad way to end the regular season.

Berg obviously has the most to play for as we've discussed.  It'll be very interesting to see how they respond to this last hurdle.  They'll obviously be ready to go.  The question is will BW?  I know they will at the outset.  But if they fall behind are they going to fold and Berg pulls away?

The ONU/Ott game is kind of interesting too.  Ott has shuffled between two unproven QB's all year pretty much.  Their best player has battled some injuries too.  They can't run the ball at all.  And yet they're a winnable game away from going 8-2.  I know they caught a break with Myers being out, but they deserved at least one break!  I didn't think 8-2 was on the radar for them in the first yr. of a new HC.  If they take care of business that's a very solid effort in my book.  Meanwhile ONU is trying to avoid their first losing season in 9 yrs.

Hey,I missed the "twittergate" matter concerning the BW player allegedly running his mouth. What was that all about? Or is it so irrelevant I should forget about it.

In all the mess with rescheduled Halloween, school conferences for my kids, and this whole election thing - I missed twittergate! Even if it is irrelevent I know I would like more info. WTH the seasons almost over and then we will have nothing to talk about except - "So if Mount Union played God on a neutral site, with Borchert at QB and Garcon, Shorts, Kmic, Moore and Pugh - could God keep em under 500 pts?"

On the Mount v. JCU game - I have always had this feeling that LK didn't like JCU. I don't know why I get that feeling, I just do. True or not doesn't matter - but the last 6+ games with JCU are pretty consistent:
2011- 58-7
2010- 51-7
2009- 56-7
2008- 41-7
2007- 53-0
2006- 31-14 (plague of toads that year?)
2005- 70-0
Seeing as this is the final tune-up before the playoffs I see this game getting out of hand in a heartbeat. I am thinking the final will be somewhere around 62-10. Of course Mount would have the 62. I think JCU gets on the board in 1st qtr and then the D wakes up like they did against BW and Berg.

Eh....."stuff" happened a while ago.  LK is no fan of Scafe.  That said...it's probably a little less harsh, but then again JCU has pretty much sucked for a while.

Now that Jr. has ended his season (with a very hard fought, tough loss to McKinley), Skunk & I will definitely be there for the play-off run, and what that will bring.

So with UWW gone, it means Linfield/UMHB/UST might come into the picture.  I say.....NICE!  There is some revenge/coulda-woulda/might have been factors going on.

See some of you around the old ball yard.

On the Raider/JCU game this weekend- first the weather is going to be warm. The Raiders will see
an aerial game, which will help them in the playoffs. JCU has given up 19 pts. per game, so I look the another high scoring day with hopefully no injuries.

As posted earlier by HSCoach, the looks like the Raiders will be in the East region with maybe a few north region teams. Depending on the bracket set-up, could we see Mary Hardin Baylor or UW-Osh again in Alliance or will it be Salem (if the Raiders get there). Sunday will tell the tale! :)

ONU traveled to Hanover, Wittenberg and Mount in the 99 playoffs.  We hosted Millikin in 2000 before going to Mount.  So it has happened that a second place OAC team has hosted but it's been the exception and not the rule.
