QuoteThis may be old news, but i wasn't aware of it til today.

Being a frequent poster one BIG reason you didn't know about it was d3football.com chose not to mention it.
It flashed on the WIAC board and left.

Nor have we mentioned other former players' off-field troubles at St. John's and at Mount Union, just as an example. What a former player does is not national news and we are not a tabloid.

I know that wasn't popular with you, and I see you are bringing it up again, but that's our decision. These kids get none of the D-I advantages of playing sports. Why should we give them the D-I disadvantages of shining a harsh spotlight on their mistakes?

I think as Mount fans, we have tempered our "can't be beat" talk over the past 7 or 8 years.

It all started in 2003 with SJU.  That 66-0 semi-final win against Bridgewater was the worst thing that ever happened to that team, and to us as fans.  After losing to SJU in 2003, the 2004 semi-final loss to UMHB, and the 2005 regular season loss to ONU really started to make us fans go hmmm......  (spoiled...I know)

Then Micheli & Kmic burst on the scene, and all was right with the world.  We figured 2007 was an glitch in the matrix, especially with the 2008 win.

And then.......09/10/11 happened.  Now I think that we as Mount fans are more humble (except for Purple Suit of course  ;D), and more appreciative of what this coach and team have been able to do for the last two decades.  I for one think they should be the favorite to win the Stagg Bowl this year, but certainly don't feel like it is a lock, or anything close to that.

Agree with the thoughts above, but, I think back to the off-season after losing, again, to UWW.  I expected that UWW would be very strong in 2012; maybe we could be on a par with them.  What happened?  UWW fell out of the D3 Football Top 25.  Very hard to imagine.  But, evidence of the MUC two decade legacy.  During the PurpleReign, have the Raiders been out of the top 5?  Quite spectacular-that.

Great and accurate reply Pat- thanks.

Well said Pat, and a sound policy.

No Way...LK was telling the refs not to yell at HIS cheerleaders!  Seriously now folks, Have you ever seen a Ref address a cheerleader during a game? I bet it was a taunting infraction, Not the players though, the Refs. Unless they were on the field of play by mistake, the Refs should not even notice the cheerleaders.

I believe you are talking about what happened after CNU's first touchdown. At first I thought they were saying something to the cheeleaders too. But then they got a policeman involved. The ref went behind the cheerleaders and pointed out someone to the officer. The officer went up into the endzone bleachers and escorted that person completely out of the stadium. I don't know if he was a student or not, but I would assume he was using abusive language or had thrown something. Couldn't really tell.

bambord,

Good points!

The 8 games on Saturday look to be pretty competitive and 2 of them are toss-ups. The region
finals will be even more competitive. For the Raiders, they just need to be consistent as they
have been through 11 games. I look for the game against Johns Hopkins to be very physical since
that is who they are.

Coming into the season, I did not think UWW would be quite as strong as 2011, since they lost
their big time offensive players QB Blanchard and RB Coppage. For the Raiders, it was the
question on who at QB and could the running game perform without Murray. Those questions
have been answered this season. If the Raiders have an edge to get to and win Salem, it will be
the seniors who want the title that has escaped them the past 3 years, but dedicated themselves
in the off-season to improve. We will know in the coming weeks, but one game at a time! :)

I agree the D3 admin handled all 3 incidents properly-now a hypothetical question, IF said infractions happened to a player on active roster in season, shouldn't it be more of a news issue?  Again not a TMZ paris hilton thing but it seems like a topic to be discussed-I know the potential for over the top nastiness might exist but you guys usually handle that well. These boards sure disperse a lot of info and if an active star player isn't injured and isn't playing I know I'd wonder-of course google makes it easy to get the gory detail

Welcome to the OAC board MUC80! :)

Thanks! I've been an avid fan of d3football.com for many, many years - I just haven't posted (obviously). I get to a playoff game once every 2 or 3 years with my dad (he's in Louisville, OH and I'm in Columbus).

It's funny, while I was watching the quarterbacks warming up on the track before the game, my dad and I were trying to figure out which one was Burke. I said that it couldn't be #10 because he's too small. haha! I was very surprised when I saw him line up at QB on the first possession. He quickly made me a believer when I saw him launching long passes and dropping them right into the receivers' hands without them breaking stride. A fun day of football!

On Mount to victory!

No explanation needed Pat, but thanks anyway.

QuoteIF said infractions happened to a player on active roster in season,

I think that balance is there because it was in d3 front page I learned about the Trinity quarterback down in San Antonio eons ago.
PC would have to fill you in on the details because I could not find archives of his hurting his team during the playoffs.
May be the UMU posters will remember because they beat Trinity in the Stagg without that quarterback, I believe. Been wrong once before.

He was an active player and that clearly had an effect on the events at hand. None of the situations I referenced above involved active players or former players coaching.

This is fairly clear to everyone else who has responded on this. I know now from past experience that you are going to keep complaining about this, perhaps for the next decade, so I am going to ask, now, that you stop.

Sorry that I brought it up at all.  I wasn't trying to make any trouble, just pass on some news that I heard.
