I just booked a room at the Comfort Inn -- Alliance.  Apparently the Holiday Inn is already totally booked for Friday night.  We are leaving Cincinnati at 4pm on Friday and coming straight up to wherever all of you will be.  We'll probably do margaritas on Saturday morning with the skunkssidekick crew.

Skunkssidekick/HScoach -- I've lost your numbers.  Can you PM them to me?

Raider 68

Just got on the computer, so I missed all the postings on the Mount game, etc.

A few thoughts on the game, although a bit late:

- Widener was a good team, that had some major breakdowns that you cannot
   have in the playoffs.

- Davis #5 is a talented player, but they needed more of them.

- The Raider D gave up a few big plays, but on balance played the game a good
game against a pass happy team (69 attempts)

-  When was the last time Mount faked a punt?

- K. Burke with another great performance.

- Now it is Mary Hardin Baylor for #1 against #2, it will be a great game! :)

Big day for Cecil today - seven catches and a TD.

Which leads to the following question:  Will any of this year's seniors from Mount be drawing at least a practice squad paycheck from an NFL team next year?

Diesul.  Maybe Driskill.

There were so earlier posts comparing Z. Bruney and K. Burke. While there are some attributes that are comparable, the greatest difference, IMHO, is that Kevin Burke has a much stronger arm. For awhile Bruney rotated with Burkart, who had a strong arm. Zack was no doubt successful, but K. Burke is part of a different level of comparison. The next game and hopefully two may enhance the discussion. The MHB defensive coordinator will have his hands full defending the Raider Offense and K. Burke. :), much like Coach V. Kehres will have against the MHB O an L. Bailey.

A legitimate, designed punt fake?  I can't remember one.

The first fake wasn't called, that was simply Widener falling asleep and not rushing the punter and letting Mathie jog to a first down.

The 2nd was a real fake.  Still can't believe LK called it.  Very out of character.  Must be putting it on film for MHB to waste time on.

I think Driskell will get the first look out of this year's squad. Dieuseul and Collins will get looks, but not sure if they'll stick. I also think Denton will get looks for a couple reasons (WR from Mount, his "look", and his Punt Return stats), but really don't think he has a chance.

Side Note: Question for the Mount historians. Will Borchert's ridiculous numbers, did he ever get a serious look from the NFL?

Blutarsky

What's the injury report for this week?  I know we've had some folks "dinged up" (Tate, etc.) over the past few weeks.  Are we back to full-strength?

^ to the best of my knowledge, Borchert never tried.  Maybe one of the really old guys knows differently

As much as I like the potential guys listed, I don't think any of them possess the freakish physical talent that Garcon & Shorts, and even Kyle Miller, possess.     They're great D3 players, but none of them are bigger, faster or stronger than the rest of D3 to really stand out like Pierre & Cecil did.

In regards to injuries, I think Tate and TE Stewart are both out.  As well as Denton, Moore, Burke, Skilliter, Driskill, Dieusuel, Fetchko, Scott, etc.   All didn't play the 4th quarter against Widener due to serious injuries.

Yeah, they injured the Mount Union scoreboard :)

I think that Driskill, Dieusel, Collins and Denton will all get looks. Should be a well attended Pro day - but that is WAAAY down the line. Let's get UMHB first. As far as Burke - he reminds me of a kid tossing the ball in the back yard. Look at the STO replays - especially the camera right behind the defense. They will show him take the snap, fake a hand-off, and toss the ball like he is throwing to his dad in the backyard. Like he is completely unaware of the pass rush. He reminds me Bruney and Micheli- but only because I only saw Borchert play ONCE. It was against Hiram - enough said. Burke has a better arm than Bruney (more like Micheli) and he reminds me of Bruney only in the sense that he is very effective running the ball. Micheli started off that way but became a dominant passer - easy to do with Kmic handling the run for you.

Now- I have to say it since no one says it anymore: Mount hasn't seen a team like UMHB. I am adding this because Mount has not seen a team that can dominate between the tackles. UMHB can line it up and power run  behind a big offensive line. I am curious to see how Mounts speed on D addresses this. Please don't crucify (reference to CRU not intended) me on this one.
