typical D3 attitude.  I think if some people had their way D3 would be like little league baseball and everyone would have to play X amount of plays and we could all have snacks after the game.  Mount has been the preeminent team over the 20 years of the trophy, is it any shock that they would have multiple winners.  I guess Colin Klein should win the Heisman this year since K-State has never had a winner and ND has too many past winners.

Per the Gagliardi Trophy website, "premier individual award in Division III football, honoring excellence in athletics, academics and community service."  Driskill is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, winner of two national academic awards...must be his community service that is so subpar.  No disrespect to the finalists, but the voters dropped the ball.

Following the logic of your original post, the best player on Notre Dame's team should win the Heisman.  I, for one, hope not.  I'm pulling for Johnny Football.

I don't think anyone is saying anything about Driskol is subpar.  He's in some pretty darn good company, that's all.

I will take the "typical d3 attitude" comment as a compliment.  I do hope I have a typical d3 attitude.  Best division in college sports.

DAGGUMIT Purple Suit!  You need to contain yourself young man!!!!!   8-)

When I originally read the resumes of all the 10 finalists, quite honestly I thought Driskell's off the field endeavors were a bit light.  I really don't think there is any "anti-Mount bias", and let's just congratulate all the four finalists.

Besides........Mount and Mr. Driskell have bigger fish...errrr....crusaders to fry.   ;)

in other news, Mount has agreed with Bethany to open up the 2014 and 2015 seasons.  Meaning Bethany will become a national title contender shortly thereafter.

That would be a helluva leap for Bethany.  They lose their QB after this coming year, I believe and they'll be WV-Wilma.

I was really pleased to see Autenreib in the Final Four.  Talked to his dad quite a few times over the four years he's been on campus -- they are very good people.

I am sure Driskill would tell you it was an honor to be considered.  With his smarts and resume, he will do fine without the Gagliardi Award.  Good luck to the remaining finalists.
Driskill, I am also sure would rather win the Natl title anyway, and he will IMO, but I am biased obviously.

Cleve Plain Dealer reports that Tom Arth and Case Western Reserve coach are two favs for job...another real surprise.

You could have knocked me over with a feather when I read about Beilema (sp) leaving Wisconsin for Arkansas...Is this a move up?
Is it just me of does that guy look like Curly Howard of the original Three Stooges??

Colored me surprised but not shocked at this one.  He's going to the big bully conference.  The population is shifting south.  But, he won't have those big Norweigan-blooded Lineman prospects from Wisconsin anymore.

I'm sure he has pretty good connections to all the high school coaches in WI at this point; no reason he can't convince some of those kids to go south with him.

But those WI kids can't play in the SEC.  They're all too slow ::)
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I for one am looking forward to that Averett-Washington semifinal this weekend. ;D

The worst part about this time of year is people like umhb2001 think we give 2 cents what he has to say. A few more days and he can post on the "We'll be real good in 2013" board.

I am trying my best to make it Friday night. Can someone re-post place and time? Thx

Ric

RE: Bethany and SOS

On what date will the "The NCAA must want Mount Union to lose because they're sending us on the road" crying begin?

RE: Bethany

The good news is the trip will be shorter than to Marietta. But that is about the only positive I can think of about this. Knowing for a fact how hard MTU works to fill that opening, is must be getting tougher than ever.
