Hey KS?  Do you think they will take some pity on us since UWW did win the last three?   ;)

I don't think Mount winning this Stagg will make LK decide to call it a career, but one never knows.

If LK promises to retire, I'll put in a word for MU. (on behalf of the rest of the OAC, the East Region, and everyone else he's pummeled regularly)  8-)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

My point about St Johns is their fans show up and have to travel a decent distance to get there because Collegeville is out in the middle of nowhere. Their away games are  usually in the Twin Cities and they out draw most of the home teams they play

...

And as always .......The Tommies continue to SUCK! ;)

They do ?!? Maybe at Hamline and Carleton (but what MIAC team doesn't bring more fans for a game at Carleton or Hamline??). But when they play teams like Bethel, St. Olaf, UST or Concordia on the road they aren't the majority of the fans. They do 'travel' well. But keep in mind a ton of their alumni live in the Twin Cities, where an SJU 'away' game is actually closer to the front door. Not to take anything away from the SJU fan support (they bring in big numbers, no one can argue that), but they aren't outdrawing most home teams on the road. And many SJU fans take issue with the lack of 'vocal' support from the crowd. I think several SJU posters have maligned the complacency of the masses in Collegeville.

And yes, Tommies do SUCK. But Johnnies also BLOW  8-) ;D

After further review the play on the field stands amended! I have attend many, many St. Johns away games and I was always impressed by the number of Johnnie fans in attendance.  I will stand by my comments with regards to the Augies and the UM YA YAs. Bethel has always had  terrific fan support with all the good teams they have had over the years. When it comes to the Tommies ,who still SUCK, I felt St Johns had a better showing until Glenn Caruso took over. Now they get the fan support you would expect. Best fans that MONEY can buy. ;)

The fact remains they have a fan base that supports the team no matter the location or the opponent. Winning the attendence award year after year. Pretty good when most travel 60-90 +miles just to see a "home game"   It really isn't the game though.....it's the burgers before the game that pulls them in. Thanks Judge Johnnie Red. ;D

So in conclusion The Tommies still SUCK. A tradition that has continued since 1885.

Since you mentioned Blowing.......would someone please, please, please show Glenn Caruso what or where some Kleenex are located. I tried to watch, sniff, the St Thomas, snort, news conference snort, snort after the game Saturday sniff sniff. Not bad enough but it was amplified by the mic in front of him.... Wow. ::)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Is there any word yet which ESPN will be broadcasting the Stagg Bowl?

From ESPN website: http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/seasontype/3/week/1/group/35

They have the ESPNU logo - but the replay of the Semis also shows ESPNU (on the mic's) even though game was on ESPN3.

BTW: We need a name for the Semis with UMHB. If a Mount guy mentions "The Game" we all know what game. We need something better than 'The turnover laden, offensively disappointing, defensively dominating, last minute heart pounding Mount semifinal victory against UMHB in 2012'. Suggestions?
i think it has to be named  12th MAN RISES!!

In the 30+ years i've been going to Mount games i have never seen the crowd wake up like they did. From about mid way
through the 3rd quarter a few players started to prompted the crowd to STEP UP and gradually by the end of the 3rd quarter
the place was rockin! Then the 4th was just incredible, the fans just willed the Mount D and the frenzy was on! WOW what a time! helmet to helmet or
to date myself even more, like a Haglar/Hearns fight! MAJOR KUDOS to the fans, for getting the aluminum off their arses and becoming the true 12th man!

Cru, you guys were everything you were billed to be! One helluva team! Congrats on a tremendous season!! For anyone to think
this loss is a setback to your program is badly fooled. It's only a setback for yourselves if you let it be and i know you won't.
This Mount team for the past 3 years has had the season end the same way and never have they let it be a setback but only their
motivation. I'm sure you will do the same! Again, congrats on your terrific season and i'm sure we'll be meeting again.

On to Salem! Once again I will be setting up our RAIDERS/GATERS SALEM TAILGATE!! I hope you d3 posters, D3 crew, Pat, Keith, and our
Mount fans will come join in the fun. For once it looks as though the football gods are negotiating well with mother nature and right now
promising i wont have to worry about the snow shovel or snorkel equipment. i will plan to actually have some name tags for you
d3 guys that you can write to d3names on so we can put a face to all our" internet football friends". We also will try
about 4pm if possible to get a group photo of the D3 faithful at our tailgate. Safe travels to all and ROLL RAIDERS ROLL!!!

Sorry for the delay, but the OAC Pick-Em spreads are in place.

As hinted before, almost anyone can win this as there are 29 points up for grabs.

Remember, you response has to be time-stamped by 7:00 PM on Friday!

Good Luck and see y'all in Salem!

I think we should side bet on the uniform combination. I see Mount listed as Home team. I wonder: black on black; purple jersey & black; white pants....I want to see a SEA of PURPLE!!! Break out the Purple pants and Jerseys!

desertraider,

My vote (Home team) would be the traditional playoff unis, Black jersey w/numerals and purple pants. Those were worn for the second playoff game, I believe. :). My favorite ( away) is the white jersey/purple pants.

I think the players like the new Purple Nike Jerseys.  I used to like the Black over Purple, but don't really like the Big Circle Logo on the Shoulder Pads.  I think the new Purple Nike Jerseys are more form fitting, and lighter weight material too.

I think we are home this year and would not be surprised to see Purple Over White, or maybe Purple over Black.

I am the opposite. I like the black jersey because of the logos on the shoulders. However, the Stagg from a few years ago (it is so hard to remember which one  ;D) where Mount wore all Purple - I remember Justin Stickley making a tackle and the sun hitting the all purple was blinding. The Nike unis are OK - but I hate Nike with a passion. I want to see Mount in the all Purple or the Black nasty jersey with the Purple. No white!!! Fear the Purple!

Dr. Acula

I wonder which way the superstitious types will lean....purple jerseys/black pants because they wore it last week and beat UMHB?  Or anything but that because they wore it last week and turned it over 5 times?

I'm partial to the black nasties because when I was in school those really meant "big game".  Seeing those babies come out in the playoffs was fun.  I too dislike the logo on the shoulders though.  I'd like to see them tweaked in a way that tips the cap to the past like going with black jerseys with block "Raiders" on the chest.  Not stitched small font like the new ones, I mean the old printed bigger block letters.  Basically the "old" white and purple jerseys from the 90's but in black.  But with "Raiders" on the leg of the black pants they might want "Mount Union" on the jersey.

desertraider,

If you recall, Mount wore all purple in the 1993 Title game, but back then they only had (4) combinations! :) I do agree with K & J Dad on the round patches on the black jersey. At the end of the day, they can wear practice uniforms and hopefully the win the Walnut & Bronze! :)

(from which I forgot to log out...). ;D

Does Michigan wear black and blue? No - they are the Maize and Blue!
Does Ohio State were black and scarlet? No - they are the scarlet and gray!

We are not the Purple and White Raiders, or the Black Raiders - or even The Raiders!!! We are the PURPLE RAIDERS! Embrace the Purple - Fear the Purple! I read a sign the other day urging to "Put the 'chirst' back in Christmas" - well put the PURPLE back in Purple Raiders!

And now - before this turn into something resembling Project Runway or a fashion blog - I am done on uniforms!
