Measurements of Success....

WILM = win two
MAR = win two
CAP = win five
JCU = win eight or nine/possible play-offs

I think CAP has the highest possible upside due to location, facilities, school, etc...  If the new coach gets just a bit of support from the administration, there is no reason he can't turn that program around quickly.

Looks about right Skunks, correct me if I'm wrong though, wasn't the demise of Cap/ Coach Collins due in large part to a lack of support from academia/administration types? (and end of eligibility of a multi-multi year starting qb) Pretty sure that was what I recall reading from the better informed posters on here anyway.

That's been the rumor around town.  Basically boiling down to the current President, Dr. Bowman, wishing for a greater emphasis on academics with athletics serving as more of a participatory function in the overall student experience.  If the teams are good, that's wonderful.  But we're not devoting massive resources.  Talking to coaches there it's obvious that there is a gap between Cap and places like UMU, ONU, BW, etc. in terms of the money devoted to athletics, coaches pay, etc.  The Head Baseball Coach at Cap used to make less than an Asst. Coach at the "haves".  But I'm sure the same could be said for Wilm, Musky, etc.

Seems to be the same story but on a larger level at "The U" as my Miami fan neighbors have pointed out. Self destructive behavior by boosters aside, President Shalala seems content with an eviscerated athletic department, ZERO facilities, an hour plus ride to "home" games and no end to the NCAA investigation.  Not that you'll get my sympathies for Miami, but shows what happens when priorities change.

That multi-multi year QB is still on the team.. though, he's too old to play every down.  He is the PK holder now.

There are 2 interviews up on STO's website. One from today with Larry Kehres. The other from yesterday with Kevin Burke. Haven't watched the KB video yet, but the LK interview is wonderful! So many great quotes.

+K for you! I, as always, must be honest: I hate Bruce Drennan. To me he is fingernails on the chalkboard - Dick Vitale with a megaphone! However, the interview with Burke is good. Kevin seems like a very respectful, down to earth kid that wants to work on......#12! I like how he said, when asked about the seniors leaving, "it's a hole to fill, but at Mount that's what we do". Very good indeed. The LK interview is really good as well - and thank god Bruce didn't do the interview.

All right then - I am signing off permanently now. With the world ending tomorrow I just wanted to say that the last few years on this site have been great - all the insight and bantering on D3 football and especially THE MOUNT! I will see you all on the other side. Damn Mayans! 8-)

Liked the interview with LK.  Comes off as very humble, consistent with everything else I've read and seen.  And he did not use one cliche.   :)

I became a fan after the 2003 Stagg Bowl.  I was impressed by the grace and class he showed.  Didn't necessarily expect that from a guy who never loses.

Well I was amazed to wake-up! I am still here - and so are all of you I presume. Guess I have to find something to do today. Oh well. Roll Raiders - Again!

desertraider, I agree with you. I can't stand watching (and especially listening to) Bruce Drennan. I had gotten a post on Facebook from Mount Union that the interview was going to be on his show today. I had the show on but on mute. After an hour I had to leave home and the interview hadn't been aired yet, so I figured it would eventually post on STO's website.

Merry Christmas to all!

First time I'd seen Coach Kehres not chewing gum.

Interesting, you don't have to watch the whole nine minutes , but I see a comparision between HOF Coach Kehres and HOF Coach Rutschman in their deliveries.

Or maybe Bill Walsh selects Alex Karras in an alternative universe? ;)
