I may have missed it in the summer slumber, but how are the 4 Purple Raiders that signed NFL contracts doing? I do think I remember seeing Diesel (sp) was released. Any other news?

The only thing I know at this time is Charles is now listed as a new Raiders coach for the upcoming season. :)

Maybe we can sneak him in a game under a different number??......just a thought.

No way that is going to work, he would stand out right away, he was huge.

Denton was released by the Bucs

Driskill is no longer with the Colts.

Jasper is still with the Dolphins, who have had a ton of injuries at WR.  He should see a good deal of playing time in Sunday's Hall of Fame game.

**** edit****
Jasper was just waived/injured by the Dolphins.  If he clears waivers he will end up on the Injured List for Miami or he will be given an injury settlement and be released

Kyle Miller is with the Dolphins as well.  He is currently listed as the 3rd string TE and is backup to the Dolphins' pro bowl LS.

Cecil is becoming a fixture in Jacksonville and of course Pierre is in Washington.  Seems like there are articles written daily about one of these two.

Judd Harrold was signed by the Chicago Rush of the Arena League in early July.  Harrold is joing Kurt Rocco in the AFL.  Rocco is currently with the New Orleans VooDoo.

I think that about wraps up the Raiders in major professional football.

2012 Stagg Bowl re-broadcast ESPNU tomorrow 7 pm EDT

For those that don't get ESPNU - you can always search for 2012 Satgg Bowl video on google and follow through the espn webpages. I can not actually remember how I found it - but I watched the UMHB semi-final game and the Stagg on rebroadcast online 2 weeks ago. The semi-final game was even more awesome than I remembered. Man I can't wait for kickoff!!!

It was unfortunate to hear about Jasper (as well as the other Raiders). I read some of the coaches comments in a training camp blog and it sounds like he did everything they wanted and they liked his skills - commented that he had great hands, ran great routes, and understood the offense - as well as being able to return kicks/punts. Sounded like he had a leg up on a few others - I was hoping he would get a shot in the HoF game. On the positive - it wasn't like he could not cut it. Sounded like they just had too many WRs and had to start chopping early. I still remember Tony Dungy saying PG probably would not have made the squad if they had to cut down as quick as they do now (or something to that effect). Unfortunate for Junior.

Here hoping that's not the last TD ball Kyle has on his mantle. He has work very hard to get this chance.

In other news, looking at the schedule and the calendar, I'm guessing the troops report on the 17th

Thanks for the update on the former Mount Union players in the NFL and/or those trying to make it there.  Good to see that Denton is getting another shot at it this year (BTW, didn't he go to the CFL or perhaps I am confusing him with another player?).

As far as one alum from our MIAA, Albion's Chris Greenwood is still with the Detroit Lions and from recent sportswriter's articles, reportedly has a very good chance at seeing some P.T. and/or even a starting spot after spending his rookie season last year on Injured Reserve with the Lions.  Some sources are considering this his "rookie" year because he was hurt (abdominal muscle pull) so early in the pre-season last year (he was good enough that the Lions kept him on IR and on-contract-almost considered activating him late in the season in December), although technically/truly this is his second year.  We'll see what happens.  Keep us posted on the Mount Union guys also.

Interesting that there was an OAC coach who picked 'Berg over Mount as the preseason favorite.

Honestly, I'm surprised Berg didn't get more votes than they did with LK retiring and the limited numbers Mount has returning overall.
