I certainly defer to HSCoach; but I think this is a great offense in the making. No one they play will be able to stop,or even slow, the passing attack. This group of receivers are really good. It's going to be bombs away. It would take a supremely talented group of dbs to hang with these guys, and Mount Union won't play all year a group like that. Franklin won't be close,it will be as bad as VK wants to make it.

I wouldn't do that. He knows more about youth soccer than football these days.

Andy Studebaker appears to have survived the final cuts for the Jaguars and will join Cecil Shorts on the roster as the D3 reps in Jacksonville. Congrats to Andy

Sad.  But true......
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I'm anxious to hear HScoach's thoughts, especially on the O line.

I watched the whole thing too and was less than impressed.   Especially the O-line.   Minnich had no room to run and Woods made his own yards.   Pass protection was adequate, but when factoring in it was against W&J who has NEVER been  strong up front, was not happy.

Then factor in their best D-lineman playing LT on offense and you have the makings of a very questionable O-line for 2013.

My early prediction for Week 1 is a much tougher game than anyone in A-town is ready for.

HScoach – would you mind posting this on the "North Region Fan Poll" board?

A few weeks ago I kindly stated to those voters that I was surprised that they all voted Mount Union #1 in their preseason poll, especially with all the changes Mount was going to have to work through this year.

You wouldn't believe some of the remarks that were cast at me... you would have thought I had suggested that Heidelberg should be ranked #1.... Oh wait, I did!  ;)

I watched the scrimmage and came away with the same assessment as HSC. The "O" line looked average at best and certainly below prior UMU lines. Offensive lines take time to gel and become a cohesive unit. Hopefully the talent is there and they improve as the season goes on.

We need to remember that this is a very young team (only 1 offensive starter back) and VK will certainly need to coach them up. The one thing they do have is speed and lots of it. On the 7 on 7 drills the WRs were consistently separating from the WJ secondary.  I thought Namdar looked especially good at WR and has adjusted well to the position.

Woods looks like the real deal but he needs holes to run through and Burke will need time to pass. He has to be protected or this season will fall far short of our expectations and all of this falls on the backs of our "O" line. They are really the key as to how far this year's team goes.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

the offensive line will get better, because if the five guys starting out do not , then they open the door for some one else to take their place.  i have seen this happen, yet not often.  Mount has good depth in the line, it may be young, but the starting five guys are new also.

Congrats to the 2013 captains...Burke, Meacham, Fechko, Bridges and Spencer.  I'm guessing Spencer is in rare company as a soph captain.

I must admit that I left the scrimmage thinking the WR group is not only going to be okay, but good and there's depth there too.  Namdar is just flat out fast. He's a legit deep threat.  And you can tell he played WR in HS just by how he adjusted to a couple of the deep balls in both the 7 on 7 and full scrimmage.

I'm very high on the skill guys across the board.  With 10 new starters I guess I should be glass half full and say if the O line with 5 new starters is my only concern I should be happy. Trust in the talent and coaching.  As amonachino said, if any of them don't do the job there's a young guy gunning for their job daily.

Great sign, I look forward to seeing how he will help my Browns, we look poised to make a good turnaround this year.

Lot of orange colored glasses on Twitter as well -- tonight from an apparently former assistant coach who changed his bio after I called him out on it.
