I guess before we get too excited for Hiram and Kenyon, it appears Allegheny really sucks. But it was fun while it lasted.  ::)

Fact.  I don't see a game that Allegheny should win from here on out.  We'll see how many bodies Oberlin has for that game on 10/19, but if Oberlin is anywhere near full strength, they'll paste Allegheny.

^^^ I'd think you'll see good progress from week to week with the offense.  We have to remember that not only are they installing a totally new offense to them in college, but also most likely a totally foreign one to them period.  There aren't even a lot of high schools running that offense any more.  Candeto may need to introduce himself to Keith Wakefield at Perry assuming Wake brought the Wing-T back there with him!  They're a dying breed with all the spread offenses.

The quarterback who started this week is a freshman but played in the triple option in high school.  He did a good job and you could tell that a lot of it came natural to him.

It's good to see the resurgence of JCU. They will be expected to win the rest of their games and may even be favored in the Mount  game. Can you imagine how bad Arth would like to beat the Raiders?  Arth played super at quarterback against but lost to really great Mount Union teams, and our winningest quarterbacks of all time in Rob Adamson and Gary Smeck,my personal fav

I know it was against Marietta, but Capital got the triple option rolling last Saturday racking up nearly 600 yds of total offense.  They're not where they'd like to be yet, but the offense had some rhythm and at times looked really smooth.   Obviously the difference between Thomas More and Marietta had something to do with it, but I truly believe they are starting to "get it" and if they played TM again the offense would look better than they did in week one.

I watched the video stream of the game, and I agree Cap looked pretty good the second half.

Raider 68

I'm missed the Raider game completely, in a remote location in NC. My concern for the O line did not improve after just reading everyone's posts. I do think that we will see improvement however. Glad the defense returned to it's stellar play again. John Carroll has started off well but we will see how it shakes out

How did you get the video stream to work?  Every time I click on the link marked "video" on the website, I get a blank screen.

Just Do It!
Leave the leaf raking, the shoring up the awning, the soccer game and take the wife to Cleveland to shop while you get a peek at The Stalker playing Case Western Reserve.
Then back to Alliance where the whole family falls into the tailgate routine and life in general.

I suppose most of the UMU fans have had a chance to see the top two teams play the same weekend because you are that. The distances out West aren't so convenient.

Do it because I want to read about it.  :)

The spreads for Week # 4 are posted.

All Saturday games, so take your time and let's pick safely out there!

I would be shocked if Mount and Linfield did not have people at each others game this Sat.  Mount's lack of a running game is going to be a concern in games where the opponent has a good defense.  This gives the def. an advantage.  The running backs are very good and the lack of production, without Burkes stats. are really bad.  My hope is for the line to pass block way better then they run block or else this train may not make it to the station.

I haven't watched either game so far, but we are 2-0 after beating a Playoff Caliber Team in Franklin and Shut out Muskingum 37-0 on a Rainy day with 457 yards on Offense (with 3 fumbles and 3 interceptions).

We haven't really had a Go To RB since Kmic, so I am not worried about the lack of running game right now.

We also had only ONE returning starter on Offense, so it is going to take a while to come together there.

Maybe our expectations are too high?  Or maybe we do have something to worry about with the close game vs. Franklin and the sloppy play on Offense.

At least this season hasn't been boring so far.

I think it's a little of both.  Of course most teams would kill to start 2-0 with a win over a ranked team (and one that looks very tough at that, if their result against FCS Butler is any indication) and a 37-0 win, but Mount isn't most teams; you're not evaluating Mount with the question "Are they good enough to win our conference title?" but rather "Are they good enough to win the national title?"

Although I haven't seen either game, it seems that the answer is - right now, probably not.  Germany Woods running for 26 yards on his first 16 carries against an OAC bottom-feeder, plus Burke throwing three picks, is certainly not an ideal offensive performance, even if the game was never really in doubt.  Again, we're typically grading Mount on a different standard.  Fortunately, teams do change and grow over the course of a season, and as you said the offense will take some time to come together.  I think that the "sky is falling" talk is somewhat unfounded but I do think it's fair to point out flaws when they exist - that's how a program stays on top for so long, by ALWAYS looking for the flaws and squashing them!

I followed the video link from D3's Scores page.  The game was streaming live, and was a broadcast by a local TV station.  I don't know if it is still available.

I would not be surprised if curiosity put LK in Cleveland Saturday.
I know were going to hold up our end of the mystery dance and venture south Saturday night.

Mount after the first game replaced the RG, RT, and LG for the second game.  These same 5 are slated to start on sat.  With more time together there may be some improvement on the way.   This is very rare to see this amount of change.
