Not going to fight this battle, but put Burke on JCU's team and I think they would be better than they are now.

Just out of curiousity how can they be better than undefeated?  ;)

Is it too early for me to start making Catholics vs Convicts jokes...and how that actually holds some truth this year?

HEY-OH!  I'll be here all week, two shows on Sunday.

Who is this team called JCU?  I checked their history and last time they were relevant was 11 years ago...

Has anyone ever seen purplesuit and theberg40 in the same room?

Just saying.

If they do, toss a grenade and close the door.

You're a D3 radio commentator, lets not act like you are the end all be all of D3 knowledge. I get the dozen or so OAC poster think that you are a D3 god and that might get to your head, but let's try not to be a douche

Re: Kmic playing in the NFL.  He could have done what Woodhead has done, but its just a result of Woodhead being lucky and getting a shot.  Kmic was that guy, but Woodhead found "that team" to give him a shot

Re: Mark Myers

shouldn't he be good at JCU?  He had a scholarship at BCS Pitt, is it shocking to think that he could be doing well at D3 JCU?  I would still take Burke>Myer with this O-Line.  Burke would be playing D-1 if he was 2-3 inches taller

Am I missing something or am I looking like as big of douche as HScoach? I mean I was a Purple Suit, can anyone confirm Mr. Grossman's coaching career?  He is such an expert on all things football, I find it hard to think he isn't still coaching.

There are plenty of reasons that someone might choose to stop coaching football, or never start.  Coaching is a grind - you have to have the time, job flexibility, and desire to do so.  Just because someone isn't coaching any more doesn't mean that they COULDN'T still be coaching; it could well be that they acknowledge their current lifestyle does not permit them to do the job well.  A lot of parents/coaches from my hometown thought I would go straight into coaching as a somewhat "cerebral" player, but I didn't really have the desire to go straight into it nor the time/flexibility in my life and career.  I don't want to speak for HScoach but I can imagine plenty of reasons why someone with a good amount of football knowledge is not coaching.

Re: Kmic, that's easy to say and hard to prove.  I do agree with you that a lot of getting to "The League" when you're a fringe prospect is just getting lucky, but there's a good saying (plenty of variations on this) that "If he was good enough to be playing the NFL, he would actually be playing in the NFL."  He probably could make a fair number of the plays Woodhead makes, yes, but it's too easy to watch a few plays and think "Nate could do that" without analyzing the total package of things (special teams play, blitz pickup, and so forth) that go into an undrafted RB making an NFL roster.

Re: Myers...well, yeah, he should be good at JCU.  No one has said they're surprised that he's good.  What is kind of surprising is how much he appears to have elevated Carroll overall this year, to the point where they look like a legitimate threat to Berg and Mount.

In your last statement, no, I don't think you're looking like as big of a douche as HScoach because he doesn't look like one at all.

Didn't Mount Union very recently have a BCS transfer try to play quarterback?  I don't know that having been at a BCS school means that you'll be good in D3 or vice versa.  You still have to work.

I think the only fair way to settle the Burke/Myers stalemate is to go sudden-death: The Braxton Miller High School Tiebreakā„¢.  Did Mark Myers beat Braxton Miller in a high school game one time several years ago?  Because, and I don't know if you've heard, but Kevin Burke did.  Kevin Burke('s team) beat Braxton Miller('s team) in high school.  He wins.

I can't speak with certainty about why HS Coach doesn't coach now, but his situation could be like mine.  I'm just too damn football smart to waste my time coaching just one team.       ;D

Not only that, but Braxton is friends with Lebron. Therefore, Kevin Burke would dominate Lebron in a game of one-on-one.

You didn't even make through your own post before you proved there's only one douche (as you so eloquently stated) here.  It's not about inflating egos or big heads.  But when you disrespect those that others DO respect in this forum, I'm not sure what you think that does for your own credibility or others' respect for you individually.

BTW, I haven't covered a game for D3 since 2006.  I do write when needed for the site though so I encourage you to check that out if and when you're bored.  Thanks for taking the time to become one of my fans though.  I try not to let it get to my head but as you can imagine, it's hard to stay grounded in such a glamorous and popular place like Division III athletics/media.  I feel bad that you took the time to learn a little about me and here I am, not caring at all about what you do or even the fabric blend of your lavender suit.

I do think it is highly entertaining that you think being a "purple suit" is somehow important to anyone besides you, the other "purple suits" or the thrift store you purchased yours from.

Take care.

* One last note...my son was recruited by the Berg.  They told him they had a new stadium that was going to open this year.  Funny...talking to senior parents yesterday, they said their sons were told the same thing 4 yrs ago.   Note to high school seniors...don't buy the "new stadium" line.

Groundbreaking on the "new stadium" at Heidelberg is going to happen this fall.

Great news motorman, Where is the new stadium going to be? Same location or someplace else? We walked across it during sons recruiting visit. Isn't Palm the AD now? If he is he will get things done.

wow I was just checking to see if anyone else was going to both games here in Columbus tomorrow and find a lot of trash talking. I love it, wish there was more in the MAC football forums.

Time Restraints.

He doesn't coach anymore because his kids were growing up and requiring more attention.

That said, I respect the hell out of Grossman and Schreel, even though I give both of them as much crap as I can (both on this thread and off).  Here's the kind of guy HsCoach is: when Pat Coleman first asked me to do color commentary, I asked for help from Grossman. He went out of his way to help someone he had only met once. He was detailed- what to expect, how to prepare and how to organize the depth charts so they can be indexed and read without sounding like an idiot on air. I don't know personally, but I believe he was a pretty good coach. To this day, I get my UMU info from him.

Realitycheck is the kind of guy that when I wanted to see an ONU game, he personally took me up there and showed me around. Even though he went to Chaminade-Julienne, he is knowledgeable and respected in Ada, which is a cow patty. He coaches at the Marvin Lewis Camp in June/July annually and I make sure that I'm free and able to show him around.

Both are good dudes that everyone in here would get along with outside of this thread. I can't speak to why they would have an issue with someone on this page (I'm much the same way as they'll probably tell you or skunkssidekick can also attest) so when they do, I tend to think its well within reason. Maybe it was the pot shots at a Whitewater program that has been every bit Mount Union's equal the last 7-8 years.

Anyhow, both of these guys are fat and bald and have flatulence issues. They both attended inferior schools all their lives, so maybe we should give them bibs, make sure the lids are tight on their cups, and dab the drool from the corners of their mouths when they show up here.

But seriously, these two are great examples of what's right with the d3 community. Helpful and self- policing.

Haven't been around much and wanted to let those of you who know Lyndsey and I know why. We are expecting our 1st child in late March/early April. We are super excited as you might imagine. Not sure the sex yet - we find out before Thanksgiving. If it's a girl, will definitely be hitting up HScoach and later on, RC, for advice..

We just got done with the first "everything is your fault, SaintsFAN" period, so I should be around more.
