If the following games were THIS Saturday, what would the spreads be? Just curious what everyone thinks.

- Mount Union vs. JCU
- Mount Union vs. Berg
- Berg vs. JCU

RC- hilarious.

If we aren't playing these games in succession...as a bettor picker, I would need Mount Union to lay 21 to bite on Heidelberg or JCU.  Heidelberg vs. JCU...I would think slight lean to the Streaks, but it's basically a coin flip.

reality check

If they got to play without this silly triple-header format I would throw my two cents in as follows:

- Mount Union vs. JCU (+17.5)
- Mount Union vs. Berg (+20.5)
- Berg vs. JCU (whomever is at home gives 3.5 points)

This could all change in the next ten minutes.  That's how firmly I stand behind my spreads.

Wow.  You guys are giving Mount too much credit.    I'll take the dog in a second.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I might not go that far ... The Berg has had the lightest schedule of the three ... opponents have a total of 7 wins.  MUC 9 (but Franklin carries extra weight), JCU 15 (impressive, but w/ Norbert accounting for a weak 6).

Good thing I don't have to set the spreads ... oh, wait!   ???

Good luck with those spreads! ;)  These DO seem to be the most formidable pair of opponents in 'forever' (the 'near reign' of Cap and the upset by ONU were just one team threatening), so I fully understand the trepidation of HScoach; at the same time, as a long-time follower, beating both by 3+ TDs would not surprise me.  We shall (fairly) soon see.

Not too much credit, Coach.  Respect.  Until they get beat, the king stay the king.

And why is HScoach worried about the Hiram Terriers at this point of the season? :o ;D :P

To clarify,  I'm not suggesting Mount isn't the favorite.    I just think the 3 TD's suggested is too high.    I would have thought 6.5 would be perfect, but knowing most pickers are Mount fans I'd have set it at 8.5 or 9.5 to get action on both sides.

Just my 2 cents.

And I value HSCoach's 2 cents equivalent to a quarter!

Good morning you crazy OAC bastages!

SaintsFan.....congrats!  Tell your lovely wife me & the Mrs. said hello and good health.

Word from Alliance is that the "Germany Woods experiment" just might be over.  I think the up and coming freshman might start getting more and more playing time.

UMU vs. Heidi - UMU a 3 point favorite
UMU vs. JCU - UMU a 7 point favorite
JCU vs. Heidi - Pickem

That's all I got!

You guys are not accounting properly for "belief in the One True God" in setting the spreads.  As our man, Most Supreme Pontiff Urban II said in 1095, "Let this be your war-cry in combats, because this word is given to you by God.  When an armed attack is made upon the enemy, let this one cry be raised by all soldiers of God:  'It is the will of God!  It is the will of God!  It is the will of God!'"

That's good for at least 3.5 points for the Catholics.

Did anybody see this?

Yeah, I saw it.  I've become strangely fascinated with defending the "bully" in cases like this because often the final score doesn't tell the whole store.  There was a similar game a few weeks ago where the winning team ran 14 plays in the second half, two were penalties, the remaining 12 were the same inside-zone run with the second-and-third team offense in, and the winning team was still accused of running up the score.  Ludicrous.  There are times when a team is clearly rubbing the opponent's nose in it, but just because the final score was lopsided doesn't mean that was the case (here, for example, it was 91-0 and honestly there does not appear to be any bad sportsmanship, except on the part of the parent who brought the complaint).  I think it's even more insulting for the winning team to stop playing the game and start kneeling on first down, or punting, or whatever.  Let the backups play regular football, just rein in the play-calling and ditch any sort of "hurry up" offense, and I think you're fine regardless of what the final score ends up.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Interesting stat from that game.  Winning Team had 7 minutes Time of Possession.
