The Magistrate Judge of the Alliance Municipal Court issued a decision today finding Roman Namdar Not Guilty  of Assault and Not Guilty of Obstructing Official Business. I was not in the least surprised by the verdict.

Wndering if the news will publish that news as fast as the arrest???????

You are obviously unfamiliar with 'modern' news (though I suspect it has always been thus).

I'm happy for Roman.  I wonder if we'll see him on the field again.

I certainly was not talking about you (and suspect HScoach would say the same) - we were talking about the non-sports newspapers and TV.  Crimes and arrests (in major cases, or noteworthy suspects) make the front page; dismissals and acquittals make page 16 (unless they are highly controversial/unpopular).

Pat, I like your Twitter page. Have you ever thought of trying to sneak the D3 logo on there somewhere?  ;D

I just wanted to point out that sometimes news breaks on Twitter. :)

Mount Union football player found not guilty of assault

By STEPHANIE UJHELYIsujhelyi@the-review.com Published: October 26, 2013 3:00AM

An Alliance Municipal Court magistrate found a former University of Mount Union football player not guilty of assaulting a female student and obstructing official business after finding there was reasonable doubt.

In her decision released Thursday afternoon, Jean Madden cited that she wasn't "firmly convinced" of the truth behind the charges filed against Roman Namdar, a backup quarterback for the Purple Raiders who was accused of sucker-punching the woman, who allegedly intervened in a verbal dispute that threatened to turn violent. Madden questioned whether patrolman John Capper, who yanked Namdar out of his car after he didn't exit the vehicle quick enough, was justified in filing an obstruction count. Citing the lack of a warrant or catching an alleged perpetrator in the act of actually committing the crime, Madden ruled that the victim's written statement alone was not enough to establish reasonable grounds for the arrest.

"The officers conducted no investigation other than the (victim's) statement and that of (her roommate), who did not see the offense being committed," the magistrate wrote in her decision, adding approximately eight hours later was when the defendant was seen by an officer and arrested without a warrant. "Suspicion and good faith are not sufficient to justify a warrantless arrest in this instance," especially since the victim gave different versions of the incident.

Namdar's defense attorney, Jeff Jakmides, wasn't surprised when he learned of the decision, saying that he was confident after the testimony. He called it a strike for justice. It is unknown if prosecutors will file an objection to Madden's ruling within 14 days, before the case will be forwarded to a court judge for final judgment.
Want to leave your comments?         What a waste of time for this player.  with 8 games to go, let's get him back on the field.  Why couldn't this have been done sooner?

Expected line up change is 25 minutes away.  Stay tuned.

I can barely hear Ric and Mark, but I can definitely make out someone in the foreground burping and clearing his throat.  I'm assuming someone in the control room needs to turn off his mike.

Anyone else having difficulty in hearing Ric & Mark?
Best that I can get is a low whisper.
Student station is loud and clear, but every tackle (historically) has been "'dropped' at the XX yard line."
