PM me if your planning to come so I can get a count for wings and things! See you guys then!

Won't be able to make Friday night for sure - working on a plan for Saturday.

I don't know, maybe I am just too simple to understand the why/how that is going into our defense.

If the same guy seems to be getting beat play after play, I think maybe you change his coverage rules to the following.

1.  No more press coverage.  Play 5-7 yards off, and err on the side of NOT GETTING BEAT DEEP.

2.  Have the rest of the defense yell BALL!!!!! when the ball is in the air, and when said defensive back hears that...TURN AROUND.

Those are my very insightful, detail-oriented coaching points for this week.   ;D

3. Replace him in the lineup. You're Mount Union and have a couple DBs waiting on a shot

You can't just pass the ball and beat Mount.  If 633 and 8 doesn't win, that should tell you something.  The team that runs the ball more effectively and doesn't turn it over will win this week.  Running effectively keeps the other QB off the field. That's the formula for success IMO

I think the game this week had little to do with the lack of running and more to do with the 6 turnovers.  Int return for a TD was the difference.  If the game had been close, 31-0 lead to all the passing, then I agree that you have to be able to run the ball some.

The worry that Mount should have is that they knew that Wesley was throwing and could not stop it.

Isn't it possible if Wesley was able to run the ball more effectively they may not have had 6 turnovers? Maybe the pick 6 would have been a run vs a pass? If you have 20 less passes in a game it stands to reason the turnovers attributed to passing would be proportionately lower?  That's my point. If you can run, you pass when you want to, not when you have to.

Usee, you are talking in general and I am talking in specifice to this weeks game.  The pick 6 did not occur when Wesely was down 31-0, it occured earlier and led to the 31-0.  The play called made sense, just a bad pass.  We can nit pick all day when it comes to should plays have been called.  I agreed with you that in general it is good if you can run.  The fact that Wesley could not run had little to do with the score at that time.  They actually ran the ball with some success, 3 - 4 yds a carry, but not consistantly early.  Then the score is out of hand and you change plans.

Just watched the game again (home due to ice).  Didn't realize that Larry K. was the executive producer of the STO broadcast.  A man of many hats.

DID notice him stick his head in the final huddle and bark something.  Sunday lunch with the family must have been interesting.

mr_mom,

I was surprised, then not so surprised to see the appearance of former Coach Kehres there on the field. Bet he makes a few visits to practice this week also! ;D

When I saw him in the huddle during the game I wondered if it was the right thing for him to do.  After all, it is not his team any longer (technically at least), but watching the replay it appears he may have spoken to Vince before entering the huddle, so maybe the coach gave him permission.  ;)

Watched again?? Where?? How???

I watched the highlight reel on YouTube, but Wesley lost that game 62-0.

Would love to see a bit more in my free time.

Had to laugh, because I watched the same reel. While watching it I said to myself "I'm pretty sure Wesley scores at some point in this game".

Wesley needs to hit the drawing board with their tackling....yikes.  :o

Also, Burke looked dangerous as hell

...just like Jason Garret gives his GM permission to be on the sidelines!

To Mount Union, a Wesley touchdown is not a highlight!   ;D

Sure, I get that. However, both Johns Hopkins and UNC-Charlotte put up highlights of both teams in home loses.  I see that as a function of the SID office. Kind of like a video press release. But Maybe not at Mount. Could be a student thing?

If it is a SID thing, I think a classier production is in order considering who Mount is on a national stage. Just my opinion.

I will add that this year's Mount Union team is in a reload and rebuilt mode this year and that they have achieved much more this year than those in the know expected.

This statement surprises me. Who do you mean by "in the know"? From what I remember, after LK retired a couple of pretty knowledgeable posters referred to the Purple Raiders as "loaded". Maybe it was just about the offense or the defense, but I thought the overall tone was that LK handed over the team in good shape for VK to continue the Stagg Bowl run. What were the expectations by those in the know? To lose an OAC game? To get eliminated in the second round?

I was assuming just the opposite. It seems to me like this is a big game for VK. This week seems like a classic case of a game LK would find a way to win.
