Mount Union has played 6 teams this year that could have or should have  beaten them.  None did due to the QB on Mount.  If Kevin does not win the trophy the player that does should walk over and hand it to him.

If the award were just based on performance in the filed, I don't think anyone would disagree. The Galiardi trophy is based on both on field and off field performance, however.  KB may still win it but not soley based on his on field merit.

Excellent review of ESPN film Youngstown Boys. The movie is an extremely well done account of Maurice Clarett and well worth seeing.

Congrats to Pierre Garcon on setting a new franchise record for receptions today and having another 100yd day. PG has 96 recpetions and 1146 yards on the season. Granted it was a loss - but that is okay. I hate the Redskins but I love to see PG and Cecil put up great numbers.

For what it is worth.

@JeffZupReview: Mount Union has never played North Central. @purpleraiders are 31-1 vs first-time opp in playoffs since 1993. Avg. score is 46-13
Beermeister, I'll take the under on that 33 point spread this coming weekend for $100.  At the same time, I'll take the over on NCC's total points being higher than 13 for another $100.  Exactly how confident are you in the Raiders?

Bust
I suggest you donate your losses to charity since it is Christmas time.

I think he won both bets. NCC lost by far less than 33 and NCC scored more than 13.  ;)

I wanted to start by thanking all of the folks at UMU for their fantastic efforts yesterday... Between inviting the North Central fans to the morning brunch, to the hospitality we all received before and during the game, to the fantastic efforts by UMU employees and students to keep the field clean during the game.  I, for one, enjoyed my first trip to Alliance, and can't wait until the Cardinals have the opportunity to return the favor by hosting the Raiders in Naperville next year (:)).

I had plenty of time to think about the woulda, coulda, shoulda plays on my long drive home last night (as the roads were horrid in northwestern Ohio), but the bottom line is that you have to "beat the best to be the best", and the Cardinals failed to capitalize when they needed to while the Raiders did exactly what they had to.  In 2007, North Central picked up its first playoff win over Concordia, WI and was not satisfied.  In 2010, the North Central lost by 10 to eventual National Champion UWW in the Regional Finals and was not satisfied.  Yesterday, North Central lost by 1 point to UMU in the National Semifinals and is still not satisfied.  The folks in Naperville will continue to do the hard work that needs to be done to build a program the right way... dare I say "the Mount Union way".  Only when North Central has tasted success in Salem one or more times will the Cardinal faithful all start to feel satisfaction.

Best of luck to the Raiders and their loyal and rabid fans on their quest for #12 next week in Salem.  I look forward to seeing you all again same time next year!!

Since Mr. Mom is on record as ALWAYS taking the good defense over the good offense, I predict his line will be Whitewater minus one quarter of one point.

Or less.

Wait and see ...   :o

Thanks for the kind words. I was impressed with your fans energy considering the weather. Better to clap you hands than sit on them so to speak.

It might not be next year that we meet.....but in two years Mount will be looking for a Game 1 opponent for two years to start the season. We have Bethany for the next two but I assume they are open after that. Could make for an interesting series. Just saying.

Congratulations on a terrific season and look forward to seeing you guys in the furture. :)

Is anyone in the AD's office reading this?  Much rather see the Cardinals or another good CCIW team then Bethany.  That's just not a very exciting match up.  On the other hand, if most others are like the former Wooster coach, Bethany may have been the only choice.

With the number of Pool C slots shrinking-I don't think that would happen-but what a way to start the season if it did!! I was so glad I made the trip Saturday. What a game! Good luck on Friday-would love to see Mount bring home #12!

The off the field that hurts Burke is that he's a junior at the U of Mount Union.  If he doesn't win the Gag back to back, its a crock. But we know that already Mr Garcon, Kmic and Shorts aren't worthy.
