O.K.  The Christmas party is over.  My all-purple apparel theme was well received.  Everyone at my table walked away with a cheap bottle of champaign with a purple foil top (Andre Cold Duck actually made it that way) to celebrate a Purple Raider day.

With respect to Cortland State...  While my good buddy Reality Check made some accurate comments (he always does...he is far too sober on too many Saturday afternoons), he did not hit the nail on the head.
So here goes...  You know how teams/fans want to say that "We were beat by the team that went on to win it all/the national championship?"  Well, if I got this right, and as insignificant that it might be, they (Cortland State) can say, "We were beat by the team that was beat by the team that was beat by the team that was beat by the team  that was beat by the team that was beat by the team that was beat by the team
that was beat by the team that was beat by the team that was beat by the team that won the national championship."  (Maybe I got one or two too many "we were beat by the team that..." references in there.)

On the flip side, Johns Hopkins has the distinction of starting the down-hill slide where everyone lost there next game.

If my memory serves me correct, your Stagg bowl winning teams in 02, and runner up in 03. Could not stop us from getting a 100 yds rushing, and wed were completely one dimensional. Why do you think you could stop a better RB in a better offense? Is this team better then those?  I don't think MUC D is going to be able to stop the UWW Offense.

Whitewater 17  MUC  35 is more like it

Game 1 of a 14 game schedule is a lot different than game 14. We also put a "Monkey Stomp" on you both of those years.

So to summarize, if it takes Beaver to get 100+ yds rushing and break the single season rushing record for us to get our 8th Ring, I'll take it.

I'd like to hear his explanation of how he got his handle. It obviously had nothing to do with D3 football.

MUC Returning Offensive Players for 2006 from Stagg 2-deep:

QB: Mike Jorris
TB: Nate Kmic, Aaron Robinson
FB: Terrence Morring
WR: Pierre Garcon, Maxwell Smith, Brandon Boehm
TE: Anthony  Antonucci
OL: Jason Lewis, Josh Henninger, Geoff Dartt, Eric Safran, PJ Giordimania, Derek Blanchard, Bryan Hubler, Ryan Creachbaum

Main losses are Casto, Ibeh, Goodwill, Campbell and Manning. Nice to see 3 starting O-Linemen coming back with Jorris, Kmic and Garcon!!

Looks like our O will be more of a strenght from the beginning next year.

I know, I know, enjoy this one now and quit looking ahead, but we got some play makers coming back on O next year.

To all Mount fans,

I was not able to attend the game as my youngest son graduated from Kent yesterday and for some reason my vhs player failed to tape the game. Does anyone out there have a copy? Please, please help me!! I have every other title game on tape.

Hey Purpled -

I'll cut you a copy ... do you prefer DVD or VHS?

To have Jorris for one more year, Garcon for two more and Kmic for three, well as Dick Enberg says..."OH MY!!"

Congrats to Mt. Union on another Championship.  You certainly proved a lot us (me included) wrong with the result of the game.  My only correct prediction was that it was a relatively high score though I was certainly concerned about that in the first half when both D's played so strongly.  Anyway, good season for both teams.  Hope to see my Wildcats reload and maybe get to match up against the Raiders next season! :)
Go Cats!

mr_mom,

I sent you a PM but I would prefer dvd. Thanks!!

I talked to a couple Salem-ites at the game and they said that artificial surface is going into Salem Stadium this spring...don't know how official they were...
they also said that there were some folks from Texas at the game that are considering bidding on the Stagg..

Been watching Mt. football for 30years...missed only a handful along the way...I have NEVER seen LK as animated as he was on the sideline...the fans were loving it..I think it showed just how much this "underdog" has achieved and I think LK loves being considered the "dog" and that he loves this team.

.Quote in the Canton Rep this morning..."This is one of the top games one of my teams has ever played in terms of 60 minutes.  They played their finest game of the season today against the best opponent we've faced."--.LK

Rumored LK quote at pre-Stagg practice..."Jeez you guys are terrible, no wonder we're 19 point underdogs."...

Congrats Mount and WWW...a great game..looking at roster, WWW returning loaded for next season...

Jorris stepped up more than not many thought he could....Beaver is awesome, and Kmic is in the same mould...#47 WWW LB is also a stud...

Thanks mount players and coaches for the thrilling ride...one that was not necessarily anticipated...

Still shaking my head this morning over Kmic's performance yesterday--my what a freshman!  Again, congrats to all connected with the MUC program for a great Stagg Bowl win.

Nice list of offense returnees Kirasdad.  Along with those guys, don't be surprised if a certain quarterback turned punter, gets reps during the games next year a la Bruney/Burghardt in Adamson's last year.  He will need to keep learning and improving, but word is he is HIGH on a certain coach'es list.

With all the injuries in the defensive backfield, I was pleasantly surprised with how the younger kids played down the stretch.  And trust me, Matt Rees will take over for Gibbons quite well.  The kid just runs to the ball amazingly well.  Oh, and 22 stepped in admirably for Buddy Wolf when he went down for a while yesterday.  I think the D will need to grow, but they are far from depleted.

Ahhhhhh......things are good in Raiderland.   ;D

Great time in Salem!

Congrat to our Purple Raiders!!!! ;D It was going to take a great effort to win and they came up with it. LK and the boys are doing things that may never be duplicated again.

I for one believe this was LK's greatest coaching job. A young team, new young coaches, new offensive scheme, loss of Monty and yet another Natl Championship!WOW!
