Olinemom,

Thanks for taking care of the boys. If we make it next year I am going to roadtrip it with b4uknewit up to Salem for sure. Hopefully we can meet up with you then.

That would be excellent!!  We certainly had a lot of fun.  Theaprof seventiesraiders and the chip off the block were there for the chicken and brownies.  In fact, there were tons of people who came to the tailgate.  It was first come, first served and the chicken didn't last.  You can only bring so much.  But thanks to d3football.com we got the word out and it was an EVENT!!  So we had 2 nice social events in 1 day, the tailgate and the game.  I think both went very well.  The defensive stands that turned WW away twice inside the 10 made the difference!!  Tradition means you know how to get it done and the guys got it done.  That Kmic is the REAL DEAL  Props to him!!  and a freshman who just started to be the man due to an injury.  So both teams have a young running back that are fabulous!!  Kmick's run reminded me of Chuck Moore's run except that Kmick's was on the sideline and Chuck's was up the middle. And Chuck got to be on the Jay Leno Show.  I know I'm not dreaming that he got to go on the show, because he was graduating at midyear and he was going to work in a business, though which one I don't remember.  It has been great, all the repartee throughout the playoffs.  Let's do it all over again, say next year?  Our problem is that we have 30 seniors graduating.  That'll make it really tough on us.  But we have talent coming up and if it matures, then all should be well.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Olinemom, Llama and all the Stone Station crew thanks for the gracious hospitality. Theaprof and I talked about it all the way home. It was a highlight of a day filled with them.

BTW We're Back

And I can prove Kevin was there as he is in the D3Football gameday photo gallery standing on that mountain of snow by your tailgate.

Now, can I get a little help with this Karma deal?
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

The Final Countdown

We're leaving together
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
To earth, who can tell?

I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?
It's the final countdown...

We're heading for
Salem and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found

I'm sure that we'll all miss her so It's the final countdown...
The final countdown...

70'sRaider&(mini-70's), theaprof, Ajwassup, HurfMUC, WCLegacy and others!

Glad you could join us tailgating, hope everyone got their fill on the Angus burgers, brauts, shrimp and trimmings!! What an excellent day weatherwise too, compared to some of the previous 8 Staggs, WOW, after hearing how the weather was less than 2 days before gotta believe Salem was blessed with some real good Karma, and the community does one helluva job hosting this DivIII event! I guess it was my consulation at hitting the final score of 35-28 ;D when I otherwise bombed :( in the playoff pick'ems! And actually what was even funnier, I said to my brother when Mount was on the 4yd line that this was where the call comes for "Bridgewater Right" right meaning going over RG ala Chuck Moore,(though I'd have to see Chuck's run again to see if it was RG he went through. lol) and WHAM! Pierre running with Kmic downfield and cutting the safety and one other guy off that had great angles on Kmic was key to that whole play! Just a tremendous all out effort by the players to not only get the win but to manage the ebb and flow of momentum that went with this game!!(GOD! I HATE TV TIMEOUTS!! ::)) One great call in having the instant replay, 3 reviews in one half! But none lasting more than a minute and reassuring the correct call, however the clock, hmmmmm, that might be a different story all together!
Olinemom,
Wish I could have met ya and gotta to some of those brownies, but grilling was keeping me occupied pretty much. Do you mail order those goodies? LOL
Llamaguy
Glad to finally meet up with you as well, that's one phenomenal "Stone Station" set up your crew has got going! WOW! Hope we're back next year and can tailgate STAGG_STYLE  again!
Thanks Raiders, cheerleaders, band, LK & coaching staff  for a terrific year, Stickley and the other few players on the sideline at the end of the halftime intermission, thanks for the role models you play for those kids being recognized at the halftime festivities and for that matter all the young kids so influence with the MOUNT TRADITION! You could see in those kids eyes :o how much of an impression you made on their day with the hand shakes and high fives! It didnt go unnoticed, as well as the rest of the team recognizing the fans and letting everyone share the moment!

#8 is Great, thank NATE!!
thanks PURPLE RAIDERS on a terrific year!!!

OK, I know that I'm about a day late posting my praise, but I finally just got home this afternoon.

Purple Raiders: You've definitely just earned yourselves another follower! :D That game was amazing, and MUC played with all the guts and determination I've been hearing about these past few years. This was the first time I got to see the dynasty play in person, and man was it worth it!! The Raiders are explosive, and most of all, they're playmakers. UWW seemed to have lots of strength and had lots of good drives, but Mount really made the big plays when they mattered -- and that's what it took!

My tix just happened to be on the UWW side of the stadium, but I'm guessing that I was one of the few people in the West Stands to be smiling each time Mount reached the endzone! I relished looking across the field and seeing the Mount fans erupt in cheers. Also, the MUC folk are a class bunch. Everything from clapping when the injured Whitewater player got up and looked like he was all right -- to the fans (mtfan, theaprof, etc) who let me and my girlfriend chow on some great tailgate food. Thanks all.

What a awesome day for football -- and an awesome outcome.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Congrats Mount Union

If you take out the 3rd quarter this was a really close game on both sides...

I know we would love to have taken out a couple of third quarters by Mount over the years too.  That's why they have 8 national titles.  LK and his staff have historically outcoached almost everyone they have played and if there is one thing I fear, it is the Purple Raider second half adjustments.

Finally got time to go over the MUC Returning Defensive Players for 2006 from Stagg 2-deep:

DT: Dan Gund, and Patrick McCullough
DE: None
LB: Matt Rees, Tony DeRiggi, and Kyle Dustin Speight,
CB: Cameron Rose, Anthony Ursetti, and Alan Duignan
S: Chris Kappas, Matt Kostelnik, Nick Barren, and Alex Jamison

Bigger holes to fill up front. Losing Stickley, Wells, Wolf and Brauer. Gibbons is also gone with Watson, and McDavid.

Ryan Fehl (Junior CB that started until injured in the National Semi-Finals) also looks to have another year if he can come back from the knee injury.

Time for the next group of men to step up on the front line!!!

I really liked having the Two-Deep Flipchart for the game. Hope that the SIDs at D3 schools will start doing that more.

First, Congratulations to MUC on a great season.  I had a wedding, so I was only able to watch the first half of the game, but it was some of the best football I saw all season.  Both teams have excellent teams, and MUC was definitely underrated by most everyone except for their faithful.  I admit that my prediction was wrong..I think i said 30-something to 17, UWW wins.  With the players coming back for both teams, I would not be suprised to see another all purple stagg bowl next year.  Again, congrats to both teams, you represented D3 well.

Also, I am hoping that all of the crazy rankings being thrown around are for humor and not truthful.  If reality check's "theory" holds true, then how about this one?

UWW>Central>Augustana>North Central>MIllikin>Franklin>Olivet>Hope
>Kalamazoo>Kenyon>Wooster>Muskingum>Baldwin Wallace>John Carrol>ONU>MUC

I guess that means UWW is back on top, with ONU being #15 and MUC #16...

Theory's are meant to be disproven.  I guess that is why they play the game, and the two best in the country played this past Saturday.  After #1, does it matter if you are #2, 3, or 4?  But if it makes you sleep better at night, you can be number 2 on my (imaginary) ballot!

Cheers

Post Season Quiz:

If Mount hangs 19 on Rowan,
Whitewater hangs 44 on Linfield,
and Mount hangs 35 on Whitewater,
what might Rowan hang on Linfield?

Considering that Mount Union and Whitewater have pretty formidable offenses...I'd say the Beast of the Least would at MINIMUM double their offensive output from the last time they played Linfield! ;)

Bluenote, I'll respond to your ignorant posts in here because it is my home.  You said some pretty ****ty things about Mount Union last week and gave their football program no respect.  Since you haven't been man enough to say you were wrong I'll say it for you so don't bother.  Your comments last week and over the years prove to me you have zero credibility when it comes to what is going on around the nation in Division III football.  Basically my opinion is you have no clue.  The Purple Raiders proved you wrong yesterday.  Mount Union has not won eight national championships in the last 13 years with smoke and mirrors.  They've done it by being the best Division III football team in the nation!
