Sorry it took me so long to post, but I too would like to say thanks to everyone in Salem for a great time--especially Stone Station for the wonderful chicken (o-line-mom--did you really have to point out that i was first in line???)  BTW-despite the fact that I helped to carry the brownies, I didn't get any of them--have to catch some next year.  Also thanks to mtfan and hurfmuc for the road report as I was driving down as well as the tailgate before the game.  Seventiesraider, kevin and I had a great trip back--it is definately an easier ride when your team is victorious.  Met several UWWW fans in Princeton WV when we stopped for dinner--they were all very gracious.

Congrats to Justin Beaver for the getting the record--I wouldn't be surprised to see Kmic take it away by the time he is a senior.

Wow, What a game!!

I saw LK tonight at a MUC holiday gathering--he had nothing but great things to say about UWWW--in fact he told us that he was having to draw up plays on the sidelines--he has lots of respect for the UWWW players and team.  Congrats to them for a fantastic season.

Wow, what a game!!

This was one of the best Stagg Bowls I have had the pleasure to experience--all the way from the tailgating through the game and the post game as well.

As Bob Hope used to say--Thanks for the Memories!!

I, too, would love to get a DVD of the game--message me and we can make arrangements.  Thanks.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

D O.C.

jdean, thanks for continuing to post throughout the game.

No problem. Someone posted before the game that they wanted it so I was glad to do it.

Hey, theaprof,  it was Pat Cummings who said you got the first piece of chicken!  I was still cutting up the brownies.  I'm really sorry you didn't get any.  But why?  We were awash in them.  Knee-deep.  I spent almost the whole tailgate time dividing the brownies into a box for the Mount Union players and a box for the Whitewater players.  Maybe one of them can tell you if they were OK.  I didn't get to meet Coach Kehres.  I imagine he was still talking to the press when I was back near the buses.  But I did meet the baseball coach who took the brownies for the guys.  He knows our Athletic Director and baseball coach and I'm also the baseball mom so that was all good.  I really enjoyed meeting all of you posters and only wished I could have spent more time talking and less time cutting.  Next year I've already planned to come the day before, with all the brownies already cut up and boxed so I can take part in all the festivities.  Thanks so much for helping me with the brownies.  Your team was AWESOME.  That D-line was unbelievable!!  Jorris --Garcon--Qu"est-ce qu'il est excellent!!--Kmick --there are no words, except maybe "dèjà vu with the Chuck Moore run", just extremely well coached.  The 2 red zone defensive stands did the trick IMHO.  Next time I want to meet the coach! :)
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

I have read a few "what if's" and they really have no place. The game was played between two teams that made it through the brackets and MUC rose to the top. This is why D3 is so great - the playoffs take the "what if's" out of it.

As long as your invited. See you in Ada next year.

While I realize that many of my fellow educators are done for this year and away from their school computers and a lot of the rest of you will be posting one last post before you go on with your holidays, I hope everyone takes a moment or two and shares a special thought or memory of this team and the Stagg Bowl before we go our separate ways again. And anyway, I'm stuck in the classroon till noon Thursday :-\
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

As a D3 fan and a former Utica Pioneer, I want to congratulate MUC on their 8th title in 13 seasons.
Your team always seems to not re-build, but re-load. Hopefully, my alma mater will be challenging you guys one day.

Just a little vignette from the weekend.  My wife and I were leaving our room to go to dinner Friday night and when we reached the elevator we saw a very tired looking man sitting on a bench by the elevator.  We looked and it was Larry Kehres.  My wife and I graduated with Larry in 1971, so even though he looked beat we said high.  He informed us he was just taking a power nap!

I think we forget what the coaches and team go through off of the field.  They came down several days earlier and as I remember arriving fairly late.  The coaches have the responsibility for watching all these young men.  Not to say that they are not adults and can not take care of themselves, and yet, they know that they are just young men and may need some reminders occassionally.  I have never heard of a problem with the MUC players while down there.  The team gets more attention than they have all year.  Members find themselves being interviewed by ESPN and other members of the media.  Certainly something that does not happen a lot during the regular season.

Another vignette.  I was impressed, inspired and awed as the team departed for the game to be in the fan line up wishing them off.  The line stretched on both sides from the buses to the elevator (which if you have been to the Wyndham you know is a long way).  The fans applauded them and wished them well.  I saw one player kissed by his mother (probably much to his embarrasment).  You could just tell these people were behind them, win or lose.

Another vignette.  Being put back in your place after the game when a waitress asked who played at the Stagg Bowl and did we win?

Hat's off to the Raiders for making it number 8.
