BW is currently on probation with the NCAA for lack of institutional control involving improper benefits for student athletes.  Let's not pretend they are all books and no sports.  They are mediocre and will be until something changes within the program.  If JCU and Berg can sustain/build on their recent success, 6-4 will be tougher to get as BW fades to the lower part of OAC football.

The academic component of D3 is much different than D1, but athletically, regardless of D1 or D3, if you don't give everything you have to getting better and winning, don't play.   Stick to intramurals.

no question...those kids at bw put their football pants on and play hard just like the kids at Alabama, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, and Mount...just not as fast...

The first regional rankings are out.  No surprise with Mount at #1.  JCU checks in at #2 and Berg at #7.

Skimming the stats for BW and it's hard not to draw some similarities to the Ott game last week.  Decent defense, a passing game that's not going to scare you, etc.  But BW almost always plays Mount closer than they should.  It was only 2 years ago that it took a Denton highlight reel catch to beat the Flaming Pile on the way to a title.  The Raiders always get their best punch.  The problem is playing them "closer than they should" this year might be losing by 50 instead of 60. 

Things that make me think it could get very ugly:

BW had 9 points, 12 first downs and 294 yards in a loss to Ott.  They were 2-11 on 3rd downs.  Ott is solid on D, but I'd like to think Mount is better than the Cards.

Etta did the following to BW's D:  33 points, 412 yards and an obscene 12-19 on 3rd down.  Marietta did that! 

In 2 of their 3 losses they had the lead at half, but got beat up in the 2nd half.  Ott skunked them 20-0 in the 2nd half to win 20-9 and ONU charged back from down 28-14 to outscore them 23-7 in the final 2 qtrs and win 37-35.  Why that translates to getting ugly tomorrow is because it sure doesn't seem like BW is a "make adjustments at half and mount a comeback" team.  They won't roll over no matter the score, but it just doesn't seem like they have the horses on either side of the ball to keep this close tomorrow.
