Frank-
JCU has women.  Women were admitted as full time students for the first time in 1969.

JCU fans are in for a real treat Saturday at Don Shula.A great Mount Union defence will be in action. There are six First Team All-OAC players on this defence. The special teams are of championship caliber. This new kicker should be adopted by Wojo. The offence may find itself but I think they need a few games together.

What is "offence/defence"?

JCU also got something else since you last lived in Cleveland....

That's what they play in the Canadian Football League.

what six players do you think are first team all-oac?

That is a good question too.  I don't know much about the talent around the league but I would put good money on the fact that ONU's Hostetler and Midlam, and the Hausler's have the four DB spots pretty much locked up.  You have to think that Trusnick has a D-line spot already seeing that he is a returning POY.  So I guess that means MUC has the other three d-linemen and all three LB's wrapped up in his opinion.

Way too early to call it on anyone, although one would think ONU has some "shoe ins". For Mount's D , I'd have to say Gibbons, Wells and Watson are the best bets....still way too much football to play to specualte on anyone.

Here are my thoughts on Saturday night's contest in U Heights...
Let me preface this with the fact that these are completely biased, uneducated, and uninformed opinions.  That said, here I go:
My feeling is that JCU can keep this close and make it interesting down the stretch.  A loud and excited home field crowd can make a HUGE difference (remember 1999 as well as the Bedford game).  JCU's defense sounds like it is clicking.  This is understandable because Scott "Triple Word Score" Niedzwiecki has now had ample time to put his mark on that group.  If they can slow down the Norwich Cadet WR, they'll be right in this one.  It is my understanding that MUC is not as dominant up front as they have been in the past.  If true, we're looking at a game that will revolve around field position, special teams (too bad Dave Ziegler is coaching and not playing), and turnovers.  Since, according to this board, the All-OAC defensive team has already been selected, JCU players should have plenty of motivation because they are not represented.  Watching the Eagles/Falcons pre-game reminded me of the 1996 incident at JCU before the game.  It reaffirmed me how much fun this game can be.  For JCU, they know they get one shot at destroying the conferences longest winning STREAK.  Why not?  What makes the Purple People Eaters better?  If Monty Python was a big part of the equation, we'll find out at some point this season!  Why not this weekend?
From far away, there is JCU pride, Nation-wide...

I suspect that when it is all said and done, Ross Watson will probably be 1st Team OAC

Purple has a tendancy to exaggerate to make a point.  There is no way MUC has six 1st Team All-OAC defenders.  They might have 6 guys that make 1st, 2nd and Honorable Mention combined.  I would have to agree that Gibbons, Wells and Watson are the only guys on paper that MUC has right now that could be even considered All-OAC, let alone get it.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Something which is always enjoyable to do with this rivalry is to determine the players who have made it great.  If it were up to me, here are the five guys I'd put back in Blue that could change this game...
London Fletcher (LB)
Dave Ziegler (Return Specialist)
Tom Arth (QB)
Ryan Haley (Punter)
Larry Holmes (WR)

The five guys I'm happy aren't wearing Purple this weekend...
Jason Hall (LB)
Mark Black (LB)
Bill Borchert or Jim Ballard-- pick your poison (QB)
Adam Marino (WR)
Chuck Moore (RB)

Note that I put Haley and Zigs on the list b/c of my belief that special teams will play a huge role in this one.

FYI, I moved the pick-ems into a separate board under the General Football topic, just to keep them all in one place.

There's a second reason, but I can't go into it here. Just know that it was considered necessary.

Great to see 4u getting fired up once again.  It's also great to see the campus creating a little bit of buzz about this game (I guess that's what a big opening win will do for you).  There hasn't been this kind of excitement around here since Tom Arth was suited up in blue and gold.

As always, the broadcast will be on www.wjcu.org starting at 6:30.
