Seconded.  Adrian is going to have trouble moving the ball and Mount is going to score a ton.  This one is over by half Saturday.

There is really no way I can realistically compare the two teams, as I have only watch Adrian play this year, but when we play well, we play really well; when we don't, it looks ugly. Our offensive line play this year has been pretty solid and with two RBs averaging 6+ YPC. If they can run the ball and move the chains consistently, they can eat clock, which could help keep the game close.

I played at Adrian during the turnaround of the program in the early 2000's. And as we started to win more and more, I always wondered how much better a powerhouse, like Mt. Union, was. I guess we will find out this weekend.

Thanks for the insight, waxx.  +K

I am equally as uneducated as I have only seen Mount play.  My statement wasn't meant to be a knock on Adrian.  I hope it didn't come off that way as it wasn't my intention.

My thinking was that Mount has been historically (meaning this year and as far back as most of us can remember) very stout against the run.  While the D is traditionally excellent, it is specifically so against the run.  Looking at Adrian's stats I didn't see QB stats that made me think "If Mount stuffs the run this guy could still carve them up."  Poor completion %, a 1:1 TD to INT ratio and no rushing yards to speak of from the QB spot.  Higher yds/completion makes me think he doesn't dink and dunk though.  Could be wrong and maybe that one WR just makes a ton of yds after catch.  Either way I just didn't see anything on paper that made me think it'd be a close game.  But as they say...they don't play the games on paper.

Gentlemen, start your pencils ... the 2014 OAC Post-Season Pick-Em starts now.  The slates are wiped clean; all players are welcome.

Spreads have been posted.  Round 1 games are worth 1 point each; round 2 = 2, and so on.  The final round will include a number of 2-point side bets.

Good luck, all!   8-)

On the Mount Union Unis...these blacks look a bit classier than the old ones....I like the clean look of purple pants with white tops..they don't wear it a lot, but I like it.

Where are the John Carroll fans?  Nothing to say about your game with Centre?

They're all out still crying about being "robbed, cheated, or homered" out of the biggest win in their program's history.  The greatest injustice in the history of the NCAA occurred on Saturday, it might take them some time to recover.  The refs had the audacity to follow the rules even though St. Arth did not know the rule or time left on the clock, or whatever other excuse he can use.

I'm sure they'll be out in droves again if the streaks can reach round 3 for the second time in program history.  It's just like the Rocky Pentello years with Mount-Cap round 2 in the playoffs.  Rocky never beat Mount either.

I was waiting to see if HCAlum86 came in to post on the Mount/JCU game. He has annointed JCU as the best team in Ohio since week 4 or 5. I will say this - JCU should have won that game. Not the last drive - the rules are the rules and St. Arth did not know them (regardless what he says afterwards). They should have scored a TD on the FG drive. Sorry but JCU was pushing Mount all over the field in the 2nd half. You have the ball at Mounts 3, down by 3 and under 4 minutes to go?!? It is called testicular fortitude!! You have been weighed and measured and found wanting! On the verge of the biggest win in program history and you kick a FG from the 3? Makes no sense. Before the argument gets made that "they were probably figuring to get the ball back since the D was..blah blah blah" - then go for the TD from the 3 and if you don't get it Mount has the ball 1st and 10 at their own 3 yard line.

Given the chance again, which they may get, St. Arth will not make the same call. I guarantee it. My question is this: St. Arth was a QB (and a damn good one). Last night in the Steelers game Pittsburgh was calling to plays in the huddle in the 2nd half, reading the D then switching if needed to the other play. JCU has no time outs - under a minute to play and had clock stoppage for an out of bounds. Why didn't they huddle and call 2 plays OR at least have a go to play inside the 10? Myers should have running downfield to the 7 calling the go to play. That tells me Tommy did not know the rule.

It happened Saturday late at night and news of it broke Sunday but with everything else going on Sunday in D3, it got a little lost in the shuffle.  Sad news indeed.

Let's refer to JCU's coach as "Saint Arth" some more and then act puzzled or start finger-pointing when outsiders or non-Mount fans say that some of the Raider faithful have the ability to be jerks when they could take the high road.  Come on guys.  The guy that says "win with class - lose with dignity" should look in the mirror.

So no St. Arth, no Heidi, or Wilma since they sound feminine. I guess then questioning the testicular fortitude is out of bounds as well? I hate it when everything in here gets taken so serious. No one came in here name calling or rubbing anyones nose in it. No one has taken any cheap shots or low blows. Oh well. From now on he will be refferred to by his full name and title:
"Head Coach Thomas Edward Arth of the John Carroll University Blue Streaks" - wouldn't want to add any color to the commentary.  :-X

No.  None of that stuff you try to deflect to.  I teach high school kids every day but it's sure is refreshing to converse with a presumably grown man who goes with the "fine, I'll go to the other end of the spectrum with my references to someone" as a form of objection or retaliation to being called out for name-calling, nicknaming, whatever you wish to call it.  You can call him Arth, Coach Arth, Tom Arth, JCU's coach, anything.  Likewise, you can obviously call him something a little more childish as you chose to, which doesn't add any "color" to the conversation.  And to be fair, you're not the only one that did it so I want to give credit to others for such clever wordplay.  This "do no wrong" attitude is an example of the unflattering behavior many outsiders comment on with some (minority) of the UMU fanbase.  I am willing to bet Dr. Acula, hscoach, rscl70, theaprof, etc., etc.. don't log in, read this stuff and think to themselves, "thank goodness that was said by someone in our fanbase."

At least purplesuit knows he's a jerk and owns it.  That's not an excuse, but he seems to relish in his role and understands and owns his often regrettable trash-talking.   ;)
