Just looking at Adrian's Roster and they have 29 players from Florida.  Interesting...

Not to sound pejorative... but that tells me one thing, Adrian is not the most selective school academically.

Careful ... that's my sister's alma mater!   >:(

My apologies, as long as your sister did not go through the public schooling system in Florida proper, my slight was not aimed at her lol

Hiram has 23.

Hence our biggest gripe with our coach as alumni. Same thing every year, and at least half of those freshman will not make it academically by next fall.

Seriously?? Your biggest gripe is the number of kids from florida? You have 20 wins and 140 losses in the last 16 years and your biggest gripe is the number of kids from florida? Now I remember why I tear up all the Hiram alum crap that gets mailed to me - I never bought in to the Hiram "academic superiority complex".

Hahaha yes, perhaps proving my point; academics are taken far more seriously on the Hill.

And the jury is still out if this year was a fluke or not, but those kids that contributed from Florida have all been at study tables, and committed themselves to being a student first.

And best of luck to JCU and UMU, I would love to see three Ohio schools in the second round!

Nasty weather in Stark County right now with freezing rain planned for a few hours. I think we will see a lot of Mitchell/Nemeth/etc

Don't forget HCAlum - I I too am an hc alum. I know how seriously academics are taken on the hill but find it laughable that you think that makes hiram different. Academics are taken seriously at the majority of D3 schools...even those outside the vaunted NCAC (The North Coast Academic Conference - if I am correct) where the rest of our schools simply could only hope to survive (albeit barely) since we'all can barely read. Hiram has always had a superiority complex - had it when I was a student and had when I taught there.

I can report from about 15 miles west, and slightly north of University Heights that it is mid to high 30s, with freezing rain.  I, for one, am glad this game is on TV.  It's not raining in my living room.

I was thinking the same thing. This is the kind of weather that brings injuries with it - here's to a safe game y'all.

I did not compare it to any institution in the OAC academically. Nor did I hint at that assertion. This all started as a slight towards the major failure that is the public schooling system in the state of Florida.

And I hope all of the athletes have a safe game today! Pound the rock, play some BOHICA football, and get those Ohio teams a W!

I am told the 3 second no spiking the ball rule was changed in 2012. Is there any video of the game/situation that inspired this rule change? Inquiring minds want to know! Certainly the situation must have been totally unjust to inspire such a move. If I could see it for myself then maybe I can let it go. Anybody know how many games this rule has been invoked in? Can you imagine this rule affecting the outcome of a National Championship Game!!!!! The NCAA rules committee would be tar and feathered. I think it needs to be reconsidered and retracted.

Doe anyone know just how slippery the Mount field will get?  It's freezing rain here.  I just walked my dogs around the tailgaters and many are falling on their asses, not for their drink but for the footing, which is usually the opposite of things.  I suppose it will help Mount Union more than help Adrian. How good are a particular type of shoe in these conditions?

If you're referring to the cleats, the 1.5" is great for this weather, but most kids will have the Nike vapor series which runs at about an inch. In this kind of weather the field-turf gets a "crunch" to it, which can impede on footing without a deep enough spike. If you're talking pedestrian shoes, take out the boots. The heavier your footing the better.
