Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

skunks_sidekick

It's been an "interesting" football spectating year for me this year.  First time in forever Jr. wasn't playing, and I promised my wife we would do more couple stuff since it was just us.  For me, that meant no high school football on Friday nights (no biggie, I was ready to move on), only the two JCU games on Saturdays, but firmly in front of the TV for Browns games on Sunday.

Having said that, I will NOT be able to make wings night on Friday night.  My wife reminded me that I firmly told her not to schedule anything on Saturdays in December, because I was anticipating Mount having play-off games.  So what did she do, scheduled a holiday dinner with relatives at our house this coming Friday night.  Sigh......

SF - Skunk will not be around this weekend.  He has to work Saturday, and I believe he said he can't make it over Friday night either.  IF (big if), I can get Jr. up on time this Saturday, he will be with me.  Since he has to get up at 5 AM three times a week at OU, I think he can make a 9:15 AM curtain call.

I know Raiderguy had a medical thing going on (not life threatening or anything), so I am unsure if he will make it or not.  Jay, call me and let me know if you are in, and how you are doing please?

I will see any & all that can make it to Pancho's on Saturday.  I am looking forward to a really great game against Wesley, and I was very encouraged by what I saw last week with both lines, and with Mount's play overall.

Ok - All region Kicker stuff aside - it is Wesley week. I have one concern with Wesley (ok I have a few, but one HUGE concern):

Steve Koudossou
Guy torched the D last year for 273 and 2 TDs. I know the D is better - but this kid is a beast. Do you think Mount puts Tre Jones on him (he has shut down just about everyone else), or do they not adjust for him and just play it as normal? Does Jones have the speed to match Koudossou? Thoughts?
Did Jones guard him last year? I knew he picked off Callahan twice last year but wasn't there some issues with him covering receivers last year? I'm sure he has improved, or was it someone else?

To answer your question, I think if Mount devotes extra resources to Koudossou, Wesley is going to hit Shade, Bundy, Wiggs, and Kyle George (TE) and they have big play capability as well. Those 3 receivers are perhaps the fastest in D3 aside from Steve. IMO Mount Union will have to do a little more on D than shut down Koudossou to stop the offense.

Last week on the WIAC Board I read that Wartburg was the Fastest team in D3...  Are you saying Wesley is FASTER:o  ;)

It's hard to compare both teams but I was more trying to make the point that it is not just Koudossou that is fast and can make plays.

Question to the D3 staff...
You are most likely the only folks to have seen Mount and Wesley.. In your informed opinions, what is the speed differential, if any, between Mount and Wesley?
I know you will be making predictions, however, would love to hear your take on this one source of discussion.
Thanks
RP

Pat Coleman

I have seen neither team in person in 2014. Keith has seen Wesley in person and has watched a good amount of Mount Union video, though.

To be fair it was 2 weeks ago and the post about Wartburg's speed was written by a Wheaton fan who saw them online and is known for posting interesting opinions.

Ok its that time for the annual wings and brew night this friday night at Reys 7:00 . I hope wesleydad is planning on making the trip along with the rest of the Raider contingent from the board. Saintsfan hope you're making the trip as well. I need a rough head count so if you can make it send me a PM and plan on seeing you all friday!

Count me out this year.   My daughter is getting married this Saturday which means I miss the semi-final as well as the annual wingfest. I can't believe my own flesh and blood scheduled something so trivial as a wedding during football season.  Semi-final weekend no less.   She was in diapers that last time Mount failed to make a semi-final.    Ugh.   I obviously have failed as a parent!

Have a good one without me.

mtfan, I can not get there on Friday night, too much stuff going on here.  I will be leaving dark and early on Saturday so that I can get to Panchos in time for Breakfast.  Hope to see all of you at some point at breakfast or at the game.

Congratulations!

I am still in trouble with my wife for missing MY cousin's wedding to coach a football game.  She held it on a FRIDAY during HS football season.  My team earned our school's 1st Varsity Win that night (our first season of football).  I missed the post game celebration because I was speeding down to Clearwater beach to meet my wife and kids at the hotel.  When I arrived, they were already asleep.

Life comes full circle coach.  Last time they missed a semi-final she was in diapers.  Mount will eventually miss another semi-final and you'll probably  be in diapers for that one.
