Whitewater has the hardest hitting kicker in the nation.

Burke's been high so often tonight

Another tough defeat at the hands of Whitewater.  Every time Mount made a move, UWWwas right there to answer and pull it out.

How happy is Kehres that Leipold is moving on to Buffalo?

Congrats to UWW on a very hard fought victory. Well deserved. Mount stubbed their toe all night at the worst times and UWW was right there to capitalize.

Going to be strange to not see #10 behind center next fall. What a career for Kevin Burke. Really wish he didn't have to walk off the field with his head down.

Time for VK to regroup and come back again next year.

Wow, what a great game that was.  Mount had their chances, but UW-W was resilient.  Congratulations to both teams.  I also hope all the injured players' injuries are not serious.

2014 is over and the season was a very good one.  The team played their hearts out and did their best.  It was not the outcome we wanted.  14-1 is nothing to sneeze at.  Mount will do what is has to do.  Get back to the drawing board and get better.  To all the seniors thank you for 4 outstanding yrs.  we could not have accomplished this without you.  To the team coming back never forget why you came to Mount.  Football as in life goes on even when there are setbacks.  For the winner it drives them to get that goal and for the non-winner it saps his competitiveness.  This program is great due to the high goals that are set and nearly attained every year.  I for one am looking forward to next year for #12.  GO MOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arg.  The ESPN image of the inconsolable Burke was hard to watch.

Last year, as we waited for the team to come down to the hotel conference room to meet the [well fed] fans, only Kevin and two other folks showed up initially.  We jumped up to give them a standing ovation and I thought all three of them were going to cry on the spot.

Last year they were beaten by a better team, and we loved them for it anyway.

This year, I [personally] thought they were the better team, but the other team played with less penalties, less turnovers, less mistakes.  Which made them the better team.  And if I were in Salem this year -- God, I hate these Friday Night games!!! -- we would have praised them again.

I can't get mad at UWW.  Over the years, I have watched them decide they wanted to be the best, mold themselves after MUC, and eventually the student became the master.  Although LL is taking his coaches with them, he has left them loaded with talent.

So I fully expect to see them again next year.  And I hopefully expect the result will be different.

Congrats, Warhawks!  Until next year...

I was really hoping for Mount to pull it out -- even with 5 minutes left, I thought there was a chance.  But the 2 TDs called back, the other penalties, the overturned completion on 3rd down on the sidelines (you can't tell me he didn't make a football move before he lost the ball out of bounds -- but maybe that was the payback for the totally botched TD catch that wasn't at the beginning of the game), and the INTs were a killer.  On the other hand, the dropped INT by Mount in the 3rd Quarter that would have been a sure Pick-6 didn't help either.

But I will say one thing -- you can sure learn a lot about D3 Football, and how well it is played by watching teams like Mount and UWW.

Why do you think he didn't show for the post game press conference this year? Journalists were promised he would:

Tom @Haudricourt
  ยท   46분  46분 전
@jaypo1961 @WarhawkFootball No Kevin Burke after the game either as promised. As two-time Gagliardi winner, he should have showed up.

Tom Haudricourt is a writer from the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal reporting from Salem.

WOW!!!! Mr. Mom your thoughts were excellent to put what happened last yr. and this yr.  Thanks I needed that.  As to why Kevin did not show up.  If he said he would then he should have been there.  It also tells me how disappointed he was in his performance and let us not kid ourselves, he plays better we still had a chance to win the game.  I'm sure he felt he let all of us and for sure his team down last night.  He wanted this win more then all of his other wins and he and the team came up short.  Tom the reporter is not happy about it.  He will get over it and so will Mount nation get on with seeking to get #12.  What was he to say he was devastated.  When you Tom or anyone has walked in his shoes let him speak up and clear the air.  All I will say is Thanks Kevin for coming to and being another GREAT Mount QB.  If this is the worse thing you do in your life you have succeed far beyond 99% of the others. In the end I too wanted you to play another solid game. It does change anything about your career.  Without you we never make it to 2013 Stagg, without you never win the 2012 Stagg.  Without you never make it to the 2014 Stagg.  With tongue in cheek can we move the Stagg to another city soon.

This game was lost in the trenches again. WWW created mayhem for Burke and forced bad throws, Receivers had no idea where the ball was going and the defense played opportunistic football. Surprisingly the running game clicked in the 3rd quarter. Too bad we couldnt make more out of it. On defense it looked like UMU was treating a 0-0 score like a lead and refused to play aggressive defense. Given no real backfield pressure and plenty of time for receivers to find weak spots in our stupid ass loose zone defense, WWW made it look easy to convert 3rd down plays. BECAUSE IT WAS! Tre J was at a huge disadvantage physically and the safeties were late to help out all night  so cudos to WWW for exploiting that. A little pocket pressure might have made a difference, but there was very little of it. Thats not what got UMU to the party so I guess the coaches thought we had to change it up.  When it comes down to the fundamentals of blocking and tackling WWW just was better at it. Their game plan was superior also IMHO. I believe UMU has more overall skill players but WWWs physicality and aggressiveness never allowed it to be fully utilized. We just got bullied all night.

It was a short night for BJ again. Is he dinged up or is everybody just on to him now? We need a blocking fullback again! What goes with Williams injury?

Congrats to UWW on another title.  Last year was obvious.    This one was there for the taking.  Oh well,  LK won many a game over the years that he shouldn't have won.  Guess it's time to even the ledger out a bit.

Was hoping my last Mount game was a better result.

I was in a lousy mood when I woke up this morning then I turned on the TV and there is old KC Keeler coaching another bowl game on my screen. Hes winning too.  >:(

Actually, his team got blasted by the 3 time defending Div I FCS national champions NDSU.  NDSU plays in front of capacity crowds in their nearly 30,000 seat FargoDome.  Their attendance regularly tops many FBS teams such as the MAC schools.  Amazing.  NDSU will probably be the favorites in the championship game next week versus the winner of the Illinois State/New Hampshire game today.  New Hampshire is ranked #1 in the country, however, they struggled a bit in their quarterfinal game win.  The game is on ESPNU today, same channel as the Stagg Bowl.

BTW, I couldn't find in the listings the channel on which the DII championship game is to be televised.  Does anyone know?  Thanks.
