Sir Battlescars

Does anyone know the non-conference schedule for the OAC for next season? I think Otterbein's deal with SJF is over and I also heard Heidelberg and Alma won't be playing each other next season either, but haven't heard who they've been replaced with. Curious about the other teams too.

Mount Union plays Bethany at home next year.  In 2016/2017 Mount plays North Carolina Wesleyan in an away/home series then in 2018/2019 plays Rose-Hulman from Indiana in a home/away series.

BW is playing Bluffton again in their opener.

I think last season was the first go 'round for Cap and Earlham, so that's probably happening again too.

According to a Berg player, they open up with Cortland State.

^^^ That would be a good step up in competition for them.  Good move.

Pretty sure my response wasn't just focused on Pool C winners and whatnot as has been expressed.  Brockport St was listed as an "asset" in the E8's claims.  That's a 5-5 team this year that's had 2 winning seasons in the last 6.  Is that really a good argument for a conference's strength?  Buff State was listed.  They had a winning season this year.  That gives them 2 winning seasons in the last six as well.  My point was, in part, that some less-than-impressive schools were listed as teams of strength in the argument.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Well, the new year is started and the off-season will start in earnest soon for all D3 Football players.

I know that my son has analyzed what he was doing this past season and is planning to speak to his coaches to get additional input and what he, specifically, can do to get better. It seems that pad height is a big thing for him and he plans on playing lower this upcoming season. Every inch he plays lower but can still move well and with great agility, will make his blocking both more effective and dynamic. He figures when blocking Tom Lally and other first team defenders in practice next year, the power in his quads and hamstrings he has developed through a dedicated squat program, will show through with more powerful hits and completed blocks both in the run game and in pass protection. He is working to do what he did for his legs with the upper body and plans to deliver blows that both stagger opponents and frustrate them as well as using hand quickness and foot speed to counter defensive linemen moves. This is going to be a huge growth year for him both mentally and physically. His plan is to challenge the varsity starters and gain playing time as a sophomore.

Good post bceagle80.  It sounds like your son has the right attitude and approach for continuingly improving at a sport he loves.  I look forward to reading about his progress.

My two favorite college teams are/were in a National Championship game, one the Raiders did not get it done but should have, the other Ohio State has a good shot. GO BUCKS! :)

Your Buckeyes looked real good tonight Raider. I'm not normally a big OSU fan (a leftover from my childhood days in Madison oh so many years ago) but somebody needed to take those Oregon guys down a peg. Congratulations.

Oddly enough, I felt Ohio State looked like UW-Whitewater and Oregon looked like Mount Union when comparing teams. I think one team relied on a great QB and an awesome system, while the other relied on pounding and using big plays down field and playing great defense.

Also, one has a coach that's been around awhile, and knows a thing or two about winning big games...while the other is new on the scene.

Great comparison though +K

I thinking the exact same thing.  The only difference I saw really was that OSU uses the QB running the ball far more often (and intentionally) than UWW.  Mount definitely mirrors Oregon right down to the actual plays (like that read option move where the QB starts to run then throws it down the LOS to the WR right before the QB crosses the LOS).
