Is  Jasper Collins still trying to make a team? Last I heard he was in Cinci.

Got waived by the Bengals last fall.  Then he played for the Boston Brawlers of the FXFL

Technically Saintsfan said he'll be an All-American.  And Saintsfan's 1. not all there already and 2. got nothing to lose by saying that.  I personally happen to think Adam will do REALLY well.  And I do think he has the potential to be one of the best QB's around.

Regarding competition, we play in Division III in AZ.  Schools in Division III out here are between 1300-1700 students (9-12).  Three of the final four teams in the state tourney each of the last three years have been in our section so Adam has played against some of the best and held his own.

I stand by this from viewing his film... just a prediction.  I think he'll be great at Wabash.

Speaking of D3 in Pros, former Mount Union TE Kyle Miller was signed by the Chargers today.

Kyle just keeps finding ways onto different teams rosters every year. He's a hard worker and it couldn't happen to one of the better guys in recent Mount history. I thought for sure Jasper Collins would at least be on a practice squad eventually.

Whenever his playing days are done I would think Kyle Miller would also make a heck of a coach if he wanted to go down that path.  He seems like the type of guy you'd want your son to play for.  Just comes off as a very mature, good guy and he certainly has the pedigree from a football aspect.  Glad to see him continue his NFL career though!

He was offered and accepted a HS Head Coaching Job in Ohio a few years ago and then later that spring was signed to the Dolphins and had to resign from the coaching position.

That leads me to a question about coaching in general. In baseball if you want to coach college it is better to not take a HS gig. But to start out as an unpaid assistant or Graduate assistant at the college level. There are so many of those guys out there getting College level experience, that when a paid job opens up it is more likely that a guy who has been at the college level gets the job over a HS guy. Does the same hold true in College. Or do colleges, especially at this level, look to the HS level just as likely as the College level?

Speaking purely from my own observations, HS football coaches tend to stay in HS, most college coaches, including the D3 level, start off as a GA.  I'm sure there are exceptions who have a stint in HS, like Vince Kehres (shockingly), but that's my two cents.

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

Growing up as the Son of a D1 and CFL football coach, I knew that when I went into coaching I didn't want to go the college route.  Too much time away from the family.

IMO for the most part most of those who choose HS do it because they want to stay at that level.

If you have aspirations of being a College or Pro Coach, you most likely go the GA route or take a job at a smaller college and work your way up from there.

Just skimming that list I obviously don't know most of those kids even by name.  However, the kid from Perrysburg, Seth Durham, I have seen and he's a nice player.  Always exciting to see the new faces in camp come August.

Thank you Dracula for the Mount Union list. I'm aware of the concern there is about the lack of big linemen available and I see we got a few, but too few it seems. On another topic, I see Malone has decided to stay with D-2. This is a huge mistake. If they were D-3 the track/cross country teams would compete for a championship nearly every year. As it stands now Malone will compete against teams none of their fan base cares about, or hasn't heard of, at venues so far away their fans won't follow them. They will become the Akron U. of D-2 and cost the school increasingly large amounts of money on a football program not supported by the students or alumni, to the detriment of the entire University. I am certainly aware of the fact many Akron alumni find it difficult to justify giving to a school that looses hundreds of thousands of dollars every year on football.

Jake Hudson QB from East Lake HS in Tarpon Springs,FL is going to BWU.  His dad was his HS coach and they made it pretty deep into the playoffs the past two years.

Helped that he had George Campbell (FSU commit) and Artavis Scott (Fr. WR at Clemson) to throw the ball to the past couple of years.

Starting Freshman OL at Michigan Mason Cole was one of his OL as a Junior and one of his teammates this past season was an early enrollee LB at VTU (Carson Lydon).

Saw Jake play a few times.  Didn't wow me and had a lot of talent around him.

Well, that sure sounds like a BW QB.   ;D

Credit for the list goes to bceagle.  +k to him for all that work he did.

I wonder how much of Malone's decision was rooted in no better option in their mind?  D2 certainly doesn't seem to be working well for them to date, but as I said earlier I don't think D3 independent is any more appealing and that would likely be where they ended up if they dropped to D3.  Barring any changes to their current membership I can't see them getting in the OAC.  And the NCAC wouldn't take them for academic reasons even if they had a desire to add another school.
