I have no suggestions.  I just want to hear the "no Nike" story.

Long story - short version. I saw a factory where Nike shoes were being made. Deplorable. One of the worst things I have seen, and I have seen a lot. A number of companies are similar but I try to stay with those that don't have as bad of a record in third world nations. Even before seeing that I stayed away from Nike because of poor quality (primarily shoes).

Appreicate the help with the visor. I have been to the alliance wal-mart and found a few things in the last year or two (would probably find more if they cleaned it now and then). But living in westlake, I don't get there much anymore. I agree on the bookstore. I got a great Gear black zip up jacket last year - but the past few years have been poor hunting.

What is the name brand of shoes you have on right now??

I emailed Lindsay Miller from the OAC and she said that they will not be web streaming tomorrow's media day, but that many schools are recording the interviews and posting on their websites.

Desertraider, This company is who we order our ONU gear from and they have been very reliable: http://www.prepsportswear.com/product/us/Ohio/Ohio-Northern-University-Polar-Bears-Ada/-Embroidered-Brushed-Bull-Denim-Sun-Visor.aspx?schoolid=2126219&productid=5168&pc=black&category=684&d=44065&up_ss2=fb
That looks awesome. I am trying to contact them and see if I can get a black visor from the ONU section and have a Mount logo. Don't understand why Mount doesn't have any on that site.

I would be very surprised if ONU Football ends up 3rd in the division (OAC Media) and shocked if we end up 4th (OAC Coaches Poll).

Desertraider,
Try this:
http://www.prepsportswear.com/college/us/Ohio/University-of-Mount-Union-Purple-Raiders-Alliance.aspx?schoolid=2583718

Got it. What I meant was the ONU section (for example) has visors and you can select from several options for logo design. The Mount Union section has NO VISORS. Thanks though-

Looked at the OAC media day write up and have to say the Mount looks good moving into this year (sorry for the Captain Obvious statement). Burke is a tough one to replace but with either Scott or Namdar, or even Pyakov/Burkes, they have so much talent around the QB it may not matter. RB seems to be settled and back to a stable of backs with Mitchell, Johnson and Nemeth. I like the WR corps with Namdar, Hargrove, Kennedy and Ruth - but would love to have Scott in that group with either Pyakov or Burkes at QB. I know Scott is a QB but he was great to have on the field at WR last year. I did not realize the D was as loaded as it is with Kocheff, Lally, Alarms, Gonnell....nice to have that coming back. In addition - the O-line returns a core of starters. Of course what I am excited to see is.....who on the roster is the next Kennedy or Hargrove? Mount seems to always have 2 or 3 guys on O or D, sometimes both, that all of a sudden POP in week 3 or 4.

I don't know how deep JC is but they are losing a ton. Myers is the obvious but also Greenwood, strippy, and Michaels on Offense (that was 60% of their total Offense in the regular season against Mount). On D they lose Pines, Zangaro, Gibbons and King. As always - baffled by ONU. Never sure what to expect from the Polar Bears. No offense intended but they seem just as likely to go 6-4 as they do to go 8-2/9-1.

I like Pumas.  My point is that all shoe companies are a little dirty.  Now, had you said that you don't buy Nike because its an evil empire, then I'd have been 100% on board.

FYI This is why that hippy realitycheck goes barefoot most of the time.

Desertraider, I think you are exactly right about the the toss up nature of ONU. Even with many Sr. leaders coming back, there are a lot of questions. DP is a question mark as to how will his knee hold up. Our defense has been leaky for the last several seasons, but I have heard we recruited a couple of players for the defense, one particular from La Jolla, CA, Da'Jour Tims at the safety position. And lastly the entire offense has been recruited and reworked to take advantage of RJ3. How quickly will he pick up the offense? How quickly will the offense adjust from a run first QB to a true duel-threat pass first QB? If it all comes together we will be a very scary team to face. If not, another middle of the road season is possible.

I have agree we are going to see some young men step up. Sure, there could a star in the making in an incoming freshman. However, I think we are going to see multiple sophomores make significant contributions over what they did last year. What I mean is these guys are growing up, getting to know more about themselves and there abilities. My son is stronger, faster, leaner with more muscle mass and knows Mount Union's systems better. I know he has teammates who are getting better as well. Like you said, after a few games we are going see who the impact players are who grew into their roles. I am really interested to see who they are and how they do it.

I saw the class for the M Club HOF was announced.  I'm happy to see Kris Bugara getting the nod.  Kid was a ball hawk in the secondary and he was dangerous after he picked it off too.  He and Mark Black were a couple Alliance kids on those early title teams that brought big play ability to the D.  Both were excellent players.  Congrats to Kris.
