Mount Union in Sports Illustrated:
The Best of 2005, The Year in Sports, Special Double Issue with Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart on the cover (Dec 26-Jan 2 issue).
See page 36: Who's Hot and Who's Not.
I'm told the picture appears to be reversed. (appears to be backwards)

Unless Kmic was wearing 63, then the pic is not reversed.  Someone posted the "Who's Hot, Who's Not" thing a couple weeks ago so I bought the issue for a train ride back from NYC.  It's cool for anything D-III to show up in SI.  In the "Best of College Football" section they were partly right.  They cited Oct. 15 "Best Day of Football" but they forgot to mention the biggest moment of all: 21-14.

Thought I would pass along this email from the Mount Union Bookstore Staff:

We will have videos for you in early February.  They will be in vhs & dvd format.  They will cost $25 for each playoff game tape.  The Stagg Bowl is one of those five. If you buy all five playoff games ($125), you get the highlight video (We're Back) free.  If you want to buy just the highlight video you can do that for $25.

QuoteI guess that naming Coach B to Coach of the Year is a fitting tribute to a man who was visibly shaken at the Stagg Bowl. Nobody in that stadium was more confident that WW was going to win than him, which is good.

Let's see...FACT or OPINION, let karma be your guide.

I suppose the whole post comes with the bragging rights.

Has the D3football.com Year in Review been released yet?  I know KMack was soliciting opinions at some point in the playoffs for categories like "Best Moment", "Biggest Upset", etc.  Just wondering if I might have missed it or if it is about to be released.

I guess coach B from WW  got he award this year for beating Linfield at the cat dome.  No small task!  However, of all the Mt. seasons I've witnessed, this year was one that coach K  upstaged all the rest.  I believe his coaching skills shown brightest this year of any I can remember.  Credit to his staff that I am sure learned alot along the way to the championship.  I am also sure that Coach k would be the first to say that Coach B from WW deserves it more.   Win or lose, its hard to upstage total class.  Coach K will always win my vote for coach of the year.

I'm not sure why all the up roar over LK not getting COY.  I think the COY awards should go the coach that had the most surprisingly good season.  I think WWW fits that description.

In previous years it seemed like they blindly gave it to the caoch of the champion.  Ala, LK won it in each of his previous 7 title years.  Do you really think LK deserved it in 1997?  That team was talented enough that I could have coached it to Salem.

Now I do think LK did a great job with this group of guys.  No doubt he maximized their production.  I'd put this title right up there with 1998 as the "most surprising championships".    Which is direct reflection on his ability as a coach.  LK would have been a great choice for COY because those of us close to the program know how surprising this team's championship was.  But nationally, MUC winning the title is ho-hum.  And since the national opinion is that MUC should win it, WWW's season was more surprising to them.

Overall, I'm glad Coach B got it.  At least it shows their thinking a little bit and not jsut blindly giving it to the winning coach.

HS Coach,

I agree.  Now if they were talking about the coach of the era I don't think there is anybody that knows anything about d3 that would dispute that going to LK.

ace

I think it is safe to say LK would rather have the National Championship anyway. Long live the King.

raiderpa

Wholeheartedly agree with the posts that support that this was LK's best coaching job.
For me personally, it was as exciting as the first championship, only because I had some doubts going into the season about the QB position, but Jorris really proved himself.
I think this championship, with this team, further solidifies the fact that LK is one of the greatest college football coaches.  No disrespect to Gagliardi or anyone else, but upon his retirement they should consider the Stagg/Kehres Bowl...

Ric

The Coach of the Year was outcoached badly in the game that mattered.

Wow.  A karma of 37?  Someone needs to let go of Ric's nuts......... ;D

I just read on the cciw board that LK didn't even get COY in the  north region.  They said that Collins of capital got the honor.  If this  is true, Iam beginning to feel like rodney dangerfield as a Mt. fan.  Didn't we win both of those games against Capital ?    Following this logic, did Regis Scafe win COY in his region when his team won the east a few years back?
