I was just wondering how the recruiting process is going for everyone?

I expect big things from Cap this year. A lot of rumors coming from the Colerain area down here regarding some big names.

Thanks for the story link.  Is it just me or is Big Ben looking like Burger King's mascot in that picture?

:o        Canton paper says Louisville standout QB/WR Kuhn will play at Mt.   He is fast, talented, and appears to be very versatile.   This kid could play as a freshman.  Excellent football played at louisville high.  More homegrown talent stays in stark co.

Do any of you loyal MUC fans, or anyone else for that matter, know where I can get some Mount screensavers or downloads? The MUC site had one or two (one was Bruney as a senior) but I can't even find those anymore. Just curious.

Actually, Kuhn was quoted as saying: "I like Mount Union. If nothing comes through, I'll go there and be happy." If some of the signed recruits fail to make NCAA grade requirements,  D2 or maybe D1 MAC spots might open up. Mount will probably be overjoyed to have him but there are 7 1/2 months for someone else with a free ride to grab him.

Read that whole article about Kuhn and the others. I recognize that I'm highly prejudiced BUT, what I got out of what his coach and others were saying that he should be able to sneak into DII or DI somewhere. That may be so but what schools would be on that short list? I'm sorry but would you rather shine at Capital, Wittenberg or Mount Union OR would you like to go the Kent, Bowling Green or Ashland and never be heard of again.

Of course the money problem comes into this, but nobody is giving up a scholarship to someone just good enough or big enough or fast enough to take a chance on.

I guess I might be in the minority but I'd pick any of the latter over any of the former if the latter schools were offering me some sort of package.  I think a majority of the kids out there would rather go "big time" and take their chance instead of "settling" for division III schools.  Wouldn't some of those guys be the same ones that test the waters elsewhere and from time to time come down to us in D-III?

And for the record, it's a slap in the face to consider BG a team on the same level as Kent State.  They are 35-14 over the last four seasons.  Kent comes in at 14-32.  Ashland, while it has had some bad years, was very successful last season with a 9-2 record.  I know the point that was being made but still...

RC:  but the key with Kuhn is that he gets a free ride at MUC because his Mom works there.  So the $ side is the same between Kent and MUC.   The atmosphere and education aren't even close.  But MUC and Kuhn are a special case.

However as a parent, if I had to decide to spend $30,000/yr versus spending $0 so my kid could play college football, I know what I'd suggest ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

RC-You probably are in the majority and I'm sure I'd think differently if I was 18. Of course I did turn down a couple of partial rides at some NAIA schools to pay my way through Mount. Sorry I picked on BG but I was using examples of teams who don't have any players I can name, off the top of my bald head. :-*

As a parent I'm prepared for my kids to go to private schools, but my retirement will be a whole lot more fun if they get some help. ::)

I guess I'm just a small town guy, from a small college, who works at a small high school who doesn't understand the lure of the big campuses.

Points well taken.  I guess it also comes down to your own personal opinion as to what a "big campus" is.  I think BG was slightly more overwhelming than ONU with a huge emphasis on "slightly".  The only thing that made BG a big-time campus to me was Fricker's.  Reccespynav, I know you're out there and smiling at that one.

Of course, I hope Kuhn tests the waters at a bigger school.  He's way too talented to settle for Mount Union.  He could and should dominate in the MAC.  I wouldn't even take the time to consider an OAC school (unless maybe it's ONU).  It's just glorified high school ball at this level anyways.  If you're reading Kuhn, don't waste your time with Mount Union.  Division III is below you.   ;)

Nice try, but Mr. Kuhn won't be getting free tuition at ONU. If he goes DIII, he goes to the Raiders!!!  ;D
