I don't think there another MU quarterback I would take to start the Stagg game over Scott, even The Great Number 7.

Big statement, but with this team, against this opponent, I don't disagree.

I mean I guess I would be ok with Micheli  8-)

As I was walking into the stadium several of the guys who wear the purple suits were behind me. One or two were particularly profane, using the F... word a lot, very loud, using it in conjunction with WWW. Then the S... word a lot, very loudly again in conjunction with WWW. I think I've seen every WWW vs MU game and the WWW fans have been nothing if not gracious and classy, like their players on the field have been and like their coaches. I could see a nice lady and her young daughter were walking near me and mom seemed chagrined for her daughter, so I turned to the purple suits and said , in my most menacing lawyer "TRY ME" voice to "watch your language." They shut up.  I don't think there another MU quarterback I would take to start the Stagg game over Scott, even The Great Number 7.

Drunk college kids are going to behave like drunk college kids.  I'm sure no one ever swears in Wisconsin...unless they run out of deep fried cheese and sausage.

Ah no, we don't swear. We are all wholesome angels.  ;) UNLESS we run out of beer. Then watch out...

Good luck Friday guys. I hope the guys in PURPLE win it all!
Proud to have worn the Purple 1991-1994

Gary Smeck, I don't think he ever lost a game. Very high QB-- IQ.

Always thought Smeck was under appreciated, or at least got lost amongst Ballard, Borchert, Burke, Micheli etc..

I wish Kurt Rocco could have came a few years after Micheli. Would have  been nice to see the numbers he could of put up if he had started more then 1 season.

Borchert.  Ballard.  Micheli.  In that order.  After them there's a debate, but not the top 3.

Still like to replay the '14 Stagg with Nemeth as the full time RB and a more seasoned coaching staff......
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Very true.  He'd have been a huge upgrade over Seaman and Piloto.

Good for you for speaking up.  You're a good example for the rest of us.  I agree with you about Taurice.  I just wish he was born a couple years later so he didn't overlap with Burke and we'd have a couple more years.

I agree with your top three, but still believe Ballard was the best.  I saw a a bunch of Ballard's games his three years as the starter and was never disappointed.  His performance in the mud against the Johnnies in the '93 semi-final was legendary.  Before moving south I got to see Borchert's first year as a starter and was impressed by his ability to operate the offense efficiently, although he didn't have the arm strength of Ballard.  By his second year he became so efficient as a passer, seeming to always find an open receiver and lead his receivers into openings where they could break big plays.  Michelli was a magician and true dual threat, but he really benefitted by having Kmic to hand the ball to and #1 was a decent weapon as a receiver.
Ballard is also the one who popped the semi-final cherry and got Mount to the Stagg Bowl.  There's something to be said about being first.

MUCRaker

Gary Smeck was an outstanding QB, however, I believe he lost to Rowan in 1999 in the semi's at home.
Go Raiders!!!

Borchert over Ballard all day for me. You're right, he didn't have Ballard's arm strength. But where Ballard was a bomber, Borchert was a surgeon. He was like Tom Brady out there. He almost always put the ball in the perfect spot.

Skunks...you still don't believe do you? That will soon change!!!

ROLL RAIDERS ROLL!!!

Purpled...I am a believer with what I saw last Saturday.  Now the men just need to finish the deal, and it will be a great way for these seniors to go out.

(Best Case Scenario)  Mount has the ball, a 10 point lead with 3 seconds left, and Scott fakes the kneel-down and throws a strike to Namdar for a TD!
But Skunks, didn't you say that STT would win? :)

Where in the HECK did I say that?  Purpled you need to simmer down a bit my man, as I don't believe I said anywhere that the Tommies were going to win.  I think they COULD win, but I think Mount would/should be the favorite.

I don't know how he rates in terms of talent, but  Scott Gindelsberger (sp?) has always been my favorite.  In 1986,  I saw him quarterback the team to a 42-36 playoff win at Dayton and there wasn't much doubt that Dayton was the superior team (esp in speed and athleticism) by far.  I remember it as a track meet and every time Dayton scored and it looked like Mount would crack, Gindelsberger would engineer another scoring drive.    Mount was getting good then,  but Gindelsberger didn't have anywhere near the talent around him that the later quarterbacks had.  To be fair, the only other quarterback I saw in person was Smeck and it was a miserable (rainy, wet) day in Salem (2000) and I don't remember either quarterback doing much in a 10-7 game.  The offense must've been subdued, because I couldn't remember it was Smeck until I looked it up.
