I'll take Nemeth over any RB in D3...ANY!! During the playoffs it was "Logan's Run."

The 12th feels just as good as the 1st!

Made the mistake of reading comments on the Sportscenter post announcing tonight's victory. This was the gem of the group...

"Dynasties at this level are not impressive or newsworthy. If this is such a football hotbed and attracts such good players, why didn't any of them make D1 or even D2 schools? Heck even FCS? My alma mater Slippery Rock would destroy them. I always thought this was ridiculous to celebrate."

Sometimes you just can't fix stupid

Shame with all of the great players in the game last night with their own great stories, that the Roberts-used-to-play-FCS-ball story sucked up all of the broadcast oxygen.  Didn't hear one word about Hank Spencer's Elite 90 Award (or any of the other jillion off-field excellence awards he's collected).  Not one word about David Simmet being a Gagliardi finalist.  Heck, they couldn't even squeeze in a word about Anthony King-Foreman's familial ties to the NFL, which seems like it would be in ESPN's wheelhouse.   I know it's not necessarily ESPN's obligation to shill for D3 and the awesome student-athletes we have, but they didn't even try last night which was disappointing.

Worst part might have been the halftime show. The game disappeared. If you were clicking through you would have thought it would have been an FBS bowl preview show. Nothing on either university, D3, or anything related to the first half of play

joelmama, New Tradition, theaprof, and raider-in-law all led the way with 21 of the 25 possible points this last week.  And rams1102 made a major move on our leaders with 19.

But it was Ladie's Night as PurplePanda held onto her single point lead over freshman bluestreak66 (and rams1102) to win the 2015 OAC Playoff Pick-Em.

I want to thank everyone for playing.  Have a safe and happy holidays and we'll see you again next year.

Wally:  great post.  I was disappointed in ESPN too, though thwork horible coverage has been the norm.  Those guys were so bad they made me wish for Pam Ward.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Still feeling all warm and fuzzy over last night (could be the bourbon still circulating through the blood), but would it be insane to say that I don't think Mount visits the Stagg Bowl next year?

^ I don't think so either.  They lose way too much, though they've rebuilt before.  What I find mildly upsetting is that we haven't seen many freshmen or sophomores this season.

Oh yes.  +k for that one.

K& J' Dad,

With this prompt, it is almost time for your 2 deep roster for the 2016 Raiders. who returns and where are the holes to fill.
It was not many years ago that the Raiders had only 6 starters returning but managed to win a title that year. Of course
Nate Kmic was one of those returning players. :)

As a (kinda) knowledgeable and experienced D3 fan and outsider, it's hard to convince me that there is any result in 2016 that does not lead to Mount in the Stagg Bowl once again. They may experience "relative" growing pains in the early season but that's just when you'll want them to happen. By the time the playoffs come around, I'm sure you'll find the machine fully operational.

HS:
I wouldn't go that far as she was pretty horrible.  I still cringe at remembering some of her statements.  However, like DBQ1965, I'll still give you a +k for the post!

As to Mount's possibility of getting back to the Stagg Bowl again next year, I would not bet against it.  Their roster is always loaded with the next persons who are ready and more than able to step  up to keep it going and as Raider68 and others have mentioned, they have proven that all too often.  Unless there is some implosion at some point during the season next year, I expect to see them back in Salem.

I think 2016 could have some growing pains.  Like 2013 only without Burke.

There will be some quality contributors on offense like the offensive line practically (most importantly), Mitchell and Johnson at RB, Hargrove, Kennedy and some intriguing young guys that will need at least one to step up. The biggest and most obvious question mark is QB. I see a competition brewing here for sure with the senior Peyakov (tall pocket passer), sophomore Lowry (short mobile, very quick) and a young freshman who will be enrolling a semester early. The young man is Luke Poorman and the skills from his highlights remind me of Micheli, but I'm not saying he is just like him. He's mobile enough and an accurate passer. I know there are other QBs that will be sophomores as well, but I don't know enough about them.

The one thing I'm not really worried about too much is Mounts defense. On the line they return Vidal, Berry, Gramt, Breyer and Jackson at Leo. Dear, Redmon, Deerr and some promising freshmen at linebacker. Corners in Berry, Groves and Sullins as well as Evans (unless he stays at running back). Defensive backs in Stewart, White.

The kicking part of our special teams has got to get better!

I think next year will be tough in the OAC, but I think we will win, get better by the end of the year and make the playoffs. I won't put any limitations on the team with how far they go. One thing I am worried about is our coaching staff. I hope Candle at Toledo doesn't pluck too many guys, there was a rumor on Ely going with him.

I'm sure that's not all of the guys that can make a name for themselves, so please fill in where I missed.

I am shocked that over the years we never get very many transfers like you would think this year mount has no idea who the QB will be you would think there would be a guy out there at a bigger school maybe a backup or just wanting to come to a winning program

My closest connection to the Stagg Bowl is MIT losing to Wesley last year in the second round, but I have to say it was one helluva game played by two great teams and Mount Union was a most deserving champion.  Whether the players are as big or athletic as FBS or NFL is beside the point.  This was just great football that was fun to watch.  No posturing, no nasty plays or cheap shots (I don't remember any personal fouls called), and teams and spectators so obviously into it.  Congratulations to the Purple Raiders.

(And just have to throw a shout out for Hank Spencer!  As one who majored in CS, or Course VI-3 as we call it at the 'tute, 30 years ago, I must give him props for that Academic All-American of the Year.)
