Merry Christmas to all my OAC poster friends here too from this MIAA guy.  Hope you all have a blessed time with your families whatever your doing, wherever you are.

Also, Craft Beermeister, sorry to hear that and I hope you feel better soon.  Indeed, that is one problem with the flu shots since they are usually one season behind the viruses going around.  I never used to get them for that reason, however, the last 4 years I have, which I think does help to some degree.  Regardless, that experience is obviously horrible no matter when it occurs, yet especially worse when it happens on a holiday.  I know what you mean as we, too, have had the same experience right now.  Late Wed night/early AM Christmas Eve, my wife got food poisoning and we spent most of yesterday in the ER.  They sent her home once that got under control only to have us return again about 4 hours later when she developed a severe migraine and we spent much of Christmas Eve day back there.  This cancelled plans for today and we're both "wiped out" (her more than me, of course), so we are laying very low today.  I'll probably just watch the Bowl games.  Anyway, again, hope you feel better soon.  And remember to drink lots of fluid (water, 7-up)! :)

I feel for ya. Crafty. My wife got a flu shot and got sick. I made fun of her because she is an ER nurse and gets exposed to everything and never catches anything. Then I got one a month later  and felt like crap fot a week. Whats in that sh.t?      Rejoice in the season everybody! Revel in the championship Raider fans.

It has been about 44 hours since I started feeling the flu like symptoms (stomach pains, nauseated,  and chills) which made sleeping the first night difficult.  I'm starting to feel better now.  I think I ended up having something called stomach flu.

formaldehyde is actually in them( embalming fluid) a low percentage and the strains of bacteria they think are going to be most prominent this year. So they make you sick to build up immunities ..Ill never get one....

WOW formaldehyde in flu vaccines.  I had to check into that.

FDA reports   "Formaldehyde has a long history of safe use in the manufacture of certain viral and bacterial vaccines. It is used to inactivate viruses so that they don't cause disease." The web page also states "Formaldehyde is also produced naturally in the human body as a part of normal functions of the body to produce energy and build the basic materials needed for important life processes. This includes making amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins that the body needs."

I checked another site to try to find out how much formaldehyde is in a flu shot and found out that not all manufactures of flu shots use formaldehyde with the highest dosage of those that do being 100 µg per dose for Fluzone. Is that a lot?  A typical pear contains about 8,600 to 13,200 µg of formaldehyde.

Everyone should make their own choose, but I think I wont give up eating pears and other food containing formaldehyde nor give up annual flu shots.

Yeah, I always get a flu shot.  There has never been a claim of 100% effectiveness (as you found to your dismay), in part for basic reasons of biology, in part because it is annually just an educated guess as to which strains of flu to immunize against.  But according to what I've read, even if you get the flu after a shot, it will probably be less serious than it would have been if you had had no shot at all.

I hope all had a great Christmas Holiday! I was able to spend time with the grandkids...the 4 year olds are truly a gift! Watching them open their presents makes for a Blessed Christmas.

Has there been any word when the Championship banquet will be held?

Should anyone have a spare copy of the title game, please email me at purpleraider@gmail.com

I don't have a copy - would love one for the collection - but have watched this on youtube 5 times since the game:

I re-watched the Stagg Bowl last night.  One of the biggest throws of the season was in the 2nd quarter of that game.  Down 14-0 on 3rd and 4 Scott rifled a ball perfectly in stride to Namdar for 8 yards on a slant to avoid a 3 and out.  Mount went on to score a TD to make it 14-7 on that drive.  That was a HUGE play.  They needed to put points up and slow UST's momentum a little bit and they did.

Also, I have to say that the Gould fumble recovery TD should have never happened.  That PI flag on Jones on 2nd and 26 before that was absolutely atrocious.  If that's PI then they should have thrown a flag on every single pass play of the game.

Finally, the 2nd half was an offensive clinic.  UST had no answers defensively.  The UWW game was so impressive, but the 2nd half of the UST game was absolutely dominant by the O line.  The last first down summed it up perfectly when Scott just ran a QB sweep behind the left side of the line on 4th and 4 and it was just a big rugby scrum pushing the pile 8 yards downfield.

I agree 100%. The PI flag was a terrible call and then the same thing happened on the opposite side of the field to Namdar in the 4th and no call. That is why the "fumble TD" was a fluke. If not for that terrible call UST has to punt from inside their 20 (I believe it was 3rd down not 2nd) and Mount has a short field. That is why I choose to see the score as Mount 56/63 UST 28. Not a Tommie knock - just the way my mind sees it. Mount downed the ball out having it 1st and 10 at the Tommie 12 yard line on that last drive. No one can argue that Mount would not have scored had they chosen to go for it instead of taking a knee.

If they wanted to punch in a slap-in-the-face score on that final drive they could have without question.  Thankfully they opted not to do so.  There was certainly no need for that.
