If purpled meant where is that physically located I believe the answer is hanging in the recruiting suite of the Capers press box.

Actually - you will find it hanging on the wall in the physical plant across from Glamorgan Castle. That is the one place on campus that has everything related to Mount Union football. The walls are like walking through history covering the last 25 years.

Spent most of the day re-watching Mount games and highlights (on youtube) from this past season. I feel pretty confident in saying the Wilmington was perhaps the dirtiest (in terms of cheap shots) team Mount played this year. Wow. They had some really nasty ones. Saw one on Namdar (around the 30 second mark) that I am still not sure how the kid didn't get ejected. Oh well.

Wilmington has always been the dirtiest team in the conference. In my opinion, they are the epitome of a team who knows they're going to lose, so they don't care if a penalty costs them 15 yards.

Wilm just isn't very competitive in much of anything.  They pretty much finish last or 2nd to last in the All-Sports standings for both men and women every year.  It's them and Musky battling for the basement almost every year.

Thanks guys...guess I need to visit the plant...I actually worked for the maintenance department for a summer in 1973...made $1.60/hr.

Exactly right. I cringe watching certain schools like Marietta and Wilmingtonp play UMU every time. This can also happen in early round playoff games. The Adrian College game comes to mind a couple of years ago, it turned ugly and made the Raiders play a little harder as well.

I'm interested to get everyone's thoughts on the strength of the conference in general from this past season since this is an OAC board and all. The past couple of years Raider fans hear people telling us how our conference sucks, and we wouldn't do that well in their conference....yada yada yada. I know people like to think they are always tougher and all, but I really felt this year the OAC was pretty good by the end of the season. UMU won it all. ONU won a playoff game (then got beat decently by UWO). I felt like JCU could've won at least one playoff game as well. Baldwin Wallace and Heidelberg were solid as well. Capital and Otterbein were ok, but not bad. The issue comes with Marietta, Muskingum and Wilmington being quite bad recently. I realize we are not the WIAC or MIAC, but I feel like the OAC would would provide some tough matchups for them even. If we gauge top to bottom, we are hurt by lack of quality with the bottom 3.

Now, next year I really feel like it's going to be a different, yet an interesting season with lots of key players being replaced. I'm not sure the OAC will be as good at the top next year because those teams replace some experienced players, but the games will be very entertaining. There are many holes at key positions for the top teams to fill, so new names will be popping up for every team to keep an eye on. It all starts with recruiting, so the spring is the most important time for these coaches with training current players while recruiting the new class.

I think this year the OAC was the best conference in D3, in my opinion. First, National Champion Mount Union speaks for itself, but with that the closet game UMU played before UWW and UST was JCU, and the first 3 round scores were reminiscent of what an usual 5-5 or 6-4 OAC team does against Mount. Also, ONU getting the win on the road against Franklin shows me that BW and JCU could also have won at least one playoff game as well, not to mention a 5-5 Heidelberg lost on the road to a Hail Mary to a Conference Champ who also got to the 2nd round. I argue that the Berg was far and away the best 5-5 team this year in D3. Add that to the fact that 2-8 Capital lost a very close game to a good Wittenberg team out of the NCAC. Of course the Mount still sits alone at the top, but I really believe the disparity between Mount and the next 3 teams have gotten closer, to the point where it is no longer just Mount Union, and whoever happens to finish 2nd. I really believe that in the next few years we will see some really competitive games between Mount, JCU, BW, ONU and even Heidelberg.

Yep, DR, I'm older than dirt.:)

The OAC was decent this season...I was surprised that the 'Berg got a playoff spot. It was evident, as it always is, that there's UMU and everybody else. It must be hell for the lower 9 to recruit quality players when you have one program playing for championships. I think that if a team is going to win an OAC other than UMU it will be JCU...Arth is an up and coming coach and is capable of recruiting quality kids. It seems like the others have had their shots in the past...Capital especially. And I wonder why some schools continue to field a football team.

As for next season...I'm going to enjoy #12 for quite some time before thinking about 2016.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Oh, did anyone watch the QB, Goff, from Cal yesterday? WOW!!

Want to make sure and wish you all a Happy New Year! To Pat and the D3football.com crew: Thanks for another great year on the site and for continuing to do all of this. Many of us still remember what it was like before this site launched. Finding even the simple things was incredibly difficult (try finding a Mount score in 1997 from Miami, Fl.). It is amazing to me that now I can find box scores and live stats not only for Mount games - but Hiram and everyone else as well. So thanks for all you guys do and here's looking forward to another great year!

Special New Years shout out to all the Mounties and OAC'ers (even the BW ones). Have fun and safe travels for all. See you next year....

I second the nomination of great work by Pat Coleman and all the other people he works with. Please know the work is very much appreciated.

Happy New Year to all the D3boarders!!

FYI: As a father of a current Mount Union football player, I can say he has rededicated himself to working hard in the offseason: lifting, techniques, making sure he knows what do on each assignment and so on. He will not let anything get in the way of being successful on the football field next year and helping his team repeat with another championship. I know he will do whatever he can to help lead his team. Next year should be very interesting!!
