^^^ This.  I immediately thought of 2003 for many of the same reasons.  Strauch and Ciccone, Bruney (plus he rotated with Burghardt so they had the 2 QB thing).  But 2003 had Knapp at WR who was a stud.  2004 is closer to 2016.  Good call.

An option for the Coaches could be Poorman, Mitchell and Fulford at some point in the season in the right set-up.

When I watched the BW game I was thinking that the QBs weren't keeping the ball very much on the Zone/Read.  May be that the Play Calling is just to always give to the RB.  Coaches don't want QBs taking big hits when they aren't taking very good care of the football right now.

On Mitchell running inside, some of it may be that's where he sees the holes.  In a true Zone Blocking Scheme there is Inside Zone and Outside Zone.  Not a hole called each play, RB has to read the blocking and find the hole.  Could be Off tackle, could be bounce outside, could be cutback.

Good point on the read option Dr. A. I would like to put in the LK philosophy: players, formations, plays. Maybe read option is minimal because none of the QBs are ideally suited as Taurice and Burke were. Similarly we have wondered about a downhill, power runner - and maybe they don't have one. With that being said I have to wonder why they run BJ inside so often. I understand keep em' honest but inside is not BJs skill set. Cheers-

If I was calling the plays against an average or lesser team I'd be PURPOSELY calling plays and formations I never intend to use against a really good team.   Make the future opponents prepare for as much diversity as possible.   I'd even slant the frequency of which plays I called when and where against what my preference would be.   That's the advantage of the OAC being absolute crap right now.   The down side of conference weakness is you never find out if your bread & butter stuff really works because you never get tested physically, which leads me to my overall thoughts about the '16 team.   

It's still early and someone could emerge as a stud, but this team very much reminds me of the 2004 group with Zac Bruney at QB / Strauch and Ciccone at RBs.  Good team that rolled thru the regular season because the overall team was deeper and more talented as a whole than the rest of the OAC, but they didn't have a consistent passing game and no difference makers for crunch time or either O or D.   For those that are too young to remember, '04 was the team that allowed MHB to come back from 17 down in the 4th quarter because Bruney couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and the RB's were very average.   They'd have been in the Stagg against Linfield if they could have gotten a single first down in either of their last 2 drives. 

Or if free safety Jesse Clum hadn't gotten hurt in the 4th.   He'd have been nice to have playing center field against the answered prayer the MHB heaved into the endzone......

That was the last home game I attended.  I couldn't believe they caught that prayer in the endzone.  I was standing there behind the goal posts.

The one prior to that was the ONU loss.  I have been to some Stagg Bowls since then (wins and losses).

I am coming up for Homecoming this year.  Hope I'm not a jinx.

I like the way Muskingum is built into the hill.

BW is a fun place because it seems like the fans are very close to the action.

My favorite road trip was to St John Fisher.   The worst was Allegheny.

But I agree. Mount shouldn't have to travel as long as they keep winning. unlike how UWW was forced to travel in 2010 after being undefeated in the regular season and defending champs.*
