Did I just read that right?  Mount had zero penalties today?   :o

And NO FUMBLES :o ???
No penalties, not fumbles in ONE game. Shoulda been an easy never mind...

We had a called shot this weekend as desertraider declared "This is the week that I put it all together for the playoff push!" and actually followed through.  He had a strong 11 points, along with reality check, wally_wabash, and Kira & Jason's Dad.  But matblake squeezed by the quartet by a point, taking Week 9 honors with twelve.

reality check's eleven points allowed him to leapfrog bashbrother to take the overall lead.  That makes four different leaders in the last four weeks.

Week 10 spreads come out Monday night.

Yes! I called it.........granted I called about every other time too and failed - but maybe the Babe called a bunch of shots and missed as well.

Can someone refresh me on the rule for game film exchange for the playoffs?  I only ask because I thought the play calling Saturday was pretty conservative.  It popped into my head that it may be because the last 3 games are exchanged.  It could also be because Mount was pretty much scoring at will so there was no need for anything fancy!  Win the surest way.

I think it is the last 3 games. But I am sure Mount sends only JV film, which is why they don't want the JV film on youtube listed as "JV". Its a conspiracy!!!

Regarding the Mount-OTT game. I was very pleased with the defense. Aside from the 1st 2 series by OTT and the garbage time in the 4th qtr, the D was swarming to the ball and looked great.

Probably pretty irrelevant for the first round opponent I would think.  Whatever team gets sacrificed to Alliance in Week 12 could have all 10 game tapes, plus a script of Mount Union's first 50 plays for that specific game and I don't think it would matter much.

Regarding OTT, a few notes.
1) Logan Stepp came in averaging 304 yds total offense, 202 passing. Mounts young D limited him to 143 total and 122 passing.
2) Hunter Joseph averaged 94 yds per game receiving and was held to 63 yds and 0 in the second half.
3) Julian Lowe was limited to 2 receptions after the half and 7 yards and finished with 6 receptions and 68 yds.

OTTs passing attack insn't Joe Callahan and Wesley - but they are a talented group. I think the DBs did a good job on coverage but the pressure on Stepp came from everywhere. That is a definite help.

On Mounts O:
1) BJ looked pedestrian.
2) Aaron looked good.
3) After watching the game twice yesterday - I was impressed with Nero running the ball inside. Not as fast as Logan in getting to the second level, but a big plus running inside.
4) Davis throws the best looking deep ball out of all the QBs I have seen this year.
5) Justin Hill. Wow. Kid made some great plays.

Question- Musky this week, sorry but I could start at QB for Mount and pull off a 66-0 win. However - who starts against JCU? I assume Poorman is/will be healthy. Is it back to Poorman or does Mount roll with Davis?

At this point it has to be roll with Davis, right?  Although I suppose we've seen the multiple QB thing done all the way to Salem so it's not unheard of.  Davis seems to be getting better each week though.

Piggybacking on the Hill comment....they're going to be very dangerous next year.  Hill, Friss and Ruth are all big play threats.

Very true.  It's usually pretty irrelevant the first 2 rounds I guess.

Hahaha. +K. This is true for a round or two. I'm not sure I'd stop at 50 plays either. I think the opponent could get the calls from Mount's coordinators at each play, both sides of the ball, and still get beaten by athletes and execution.

Normally I would say through 2 rounds for sure, but there are some interesting possibilities for a round 2 game at Mount Union that might really illuminate how much back to the pack this young Mount Union team is (or is not...I'm not sure we really know).

Not that I am looking ahead to next year (the Browns approach since 1999) but that is something to think about. Hill, Friss, Ruth at WR with Aaron/Evans Morris/Nero, and Davis/Fulford/Poorman. The offense looks good moving forward.

Good point. I try to never make assumptions with the post season but it is hard when the last playoff loss before the Semi-finals was in the quarter finals at LAX in 95 (or was that the semis then?) or the second round loss at Albion in 94. Sorry - but just staggering to think we have to go back that far to find a playoff loss before the semi finals...especially since they have been in the playoffs every year.

Almost forgot - major Kudos to Jason Hall, the best LB I ever saw play (in person) and the HC at Westlake HS. After 2 years at Westlake he has the Demons in the playoffs. I told my daughter (who has him for phys ed) when he got hired - "give him 2 years and Westlake will be in the playoffs". Huge turn around.

Also - I saw the QB for Solon is a kid with the familiar last name of "Bubonics". Any relation? Wonder if he will head to Mount?

Ed is a Teacher/Coach at Solon and the Age is right.  I'm fairly confident Joe Boubonics is Ed's Son.  Joe is a 5'9" 170 LB Senior QB.
