Poor Braeden Friss gets called "Brandon" about 95% of the time by opponents' broadcasters.  But when it comes to D3 football I'm just happy there is live video available.  Call them whatever you like as long as the stream works!

Changing the topic...I know the OAC is down again, but the 4 freshmen QB's have combined to complete 69%, throw for 224 yds/gm and 19 TD to only 3 INT.  That's pretty impressive no matter what the state of the OAC is in 2016.

But Mount hasn't played a meaningful road game in 20+ years! (Thought I would post one for BadgerWarhawk) ;)

I don't see any reason they shouldn't be constantly playing at home.  They earn it.  If others want to see them on the road beat them for a change.  In the vast majority of cases Mount would beat the hell out of those teams whether they're playing at home, on the road or on a playground.

I know that I don't have any problem with us playing all of our postseason games at home and we've done pretty well on the road.

Sorry BadgerWarhawk - I mis-read it....it was WarhawkBadgers:

Fair enough, but the fans realize that MUC hasn't won a meaningful game on the road for 20 years.
Imagine if Ohio State, Wisconsin, or Michigan got to play EVERY game at home. We'd never lose to lesser schools from the SEC/ACC. We don't win every game, but we still beat top southern schools in the south that NEVER go on the road..
I challenge MUC to return to UWW. You did it in 2002, 2003 before UWW was a "power". I'm sure UWW would gladly schedule a home and home. We could beat the all-time single game attendance record again.
Top flight non-conference games are good for the sport. Playing a schedule full of creampuffs and then being guaranteed home field advantage for 20 straight years is not good for the sport.

Plus, isn't that from comments on articles? Even if the handle matches, there's no guarantee that's even the same person, you have to realize.

No problem.  I was just confused (easily done at my age) because I didn't recall ever mentioning a thing about it.

This isn't the first time I've been mistaken for WarhawkBadgers.    The last time comments that he (if it's the same person) had made upset a friend of mine who confronted me and I didn't have a clue what he was talking about.   That took some time to straighten it out.

A friend of mine asked me a few questions that I wasn't sure about:

In the last 10 years, has UMU ever played an away playoff game other than the final?

In the past 10 years has UMU ever played an away Semi-Final Game?

Has UMU had the softest route/bracket to the Semi's ? Year after year?

Thx for your info!

wally_wabash

I think the answers to all of those questions are no.

Well the first 2 questions are really the same question. I mean a Semi-final is not the final so it is simply a playoff game. The answer to it is - no. Mount has not played an away playoff game, including semi-finals but excluding the final game, in the past 10 years.

But - yes, Mount has the softest bracket (year-after-year) and easiest path to the final game until the contract they signed with the NCAA and Satan (not always the same as in this case) which does not expire until the year "infinity and beyond".

Of course the obvious answer can be found in the message board 'do's and don'ts' as posted by Pat - 'don't come and ask "a friend of mine" since it is obvious the friend is you.  ;D (BTW: Note an exact quote but check it and you'll find it)

For the record, Mount's last away playoff game (not including the finals) was in 1996. They went to Wisc. LAX for the semis and won 39-21.

For all things Mount: http://athletics.mountunion.edu/sports/fball/records/index it is the best source (ever since Ric stepped away).

Hmm... Weird.  If you ask people like Bootnote, you'd think Mount has never had to leave their campus for even the Stagg Bowl.  He's probably just upset his squad laid an egg in Belton earlier this year and will have to go back if they beat the SCIAC Champs.

Question for you guys:

Who has played the 2nd most NCAA Playoff Games at home since 2009, behind Mount Union, yet haven't appeared in the Stagg Bowl?

It feels like the answer should be Wesley, but that almost seems too obvious to be right.  Could be UMHB or Linfield.

The answer has to be one of UMHB, Wesley, Linfield or UWW. Doesn't it? My stab on this would be UWW. With the exception of the year they missed playoffs, they host alot.

But UWW has certainly been to a Stagg Bowl since 2009, so they'd be out.

Plus UWW gets hosed and has to travel ALL.  THE.  TIME.  in the tournament in case you haven't heard.

Since 2009 kicked off:
Wesley has played 15 of their 24 NCAA Tournament Games at home.
UMHB has played 15 of their 21 NCAA Tournament Games at home.
Linfield has played 13 of their 20 NCAA Tournament Games at home.

Whitewater would be a good answer, if I hadn't put the qualifier of not having made an appearance in the Stagg Bowl during the period.  They played 18 of 24 Tournament games at home.  And keep in mind they completely missed the 2012 Tournament with three losses before going 30-0 in the next two years.

EDIT:  I don't really know what Bluenote is carrying on about, his team of choice has played 65% of their games at home.  Highest percentage at home of the three.  I get the balancing act (or lack thereof) by the NCAA pairing them with the Texas sub-bracket winner.  Those are long trips for teams to the PNW.

So Whitewater actually gets to play tournament games at home more often than anybody in Division III other than Mount Union?  Wild.

Sorry missed the Stagg Bowl part. My Bad. So, according to your post....UWW doesn't have to travel everywhere for playoffs. Wow. And they lost 3 games....in the same year??? What - no that is understandable since the WIAC is the toughest conference that god ever created and includes not only UWW but god him/her self on the schedule.

No - the post had some good stuff. No offense to Linfield but the "61 consecutive winning season" thing reminds me of BW and the ol' streak of mediocrity. I mean it is a great streak...but when do you crack through?
